Issue flashing ROM - Thunderbolt General

I rooted my TB with Captainkrtek's method and everything works great. Superuser is running properly and not having any issues. But when I use cwm to try to flash a rom or kernel it tries to fastboot and fails. But it shows at the top "s-on" then says PG05img not located and fails. How could I have used his root method and still have s-on? Any hep would be great. Thanks!

I'm rooted I think on 2.3.3 but I'm not???

I have no idea what happened I ran the new revolutionary tool on my wife's evo. The phone when I go to the bootloader screen it says revolutionary 2.15 hboot ect. S-off. I tried running terminal but it says access denied. When I ran the tool it went through but I forgot to flash the recovery. What do I do can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Is your superuser working? From what I understand using the terminal requires you to use su key (superuser)
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Finish the steps provided with revolutionary, flash recovery, then either flash a custom rom or the Su files.
No I tried putting su in and it said access denied.

If it is S-Off then get AmonRa as a PC36IMG.zip and flash recovery through the bootloader. Check my signature for a link. Directions in the OP.
Then flash a rooted ROM, stock or whichever ROM you want. Or else I think that you can flash a Superuser.zip in recovery mode. I have never done so, because I like flashing ROMs and kernels

So download that and rename it then flash and then i can flash over any rom right
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
When you download the PC36IMG.zip from Amon_RA it will downlaod as PC36IMG.zip. So you don't have to rename it. Keep it on the root of your sd card and go into your bootloader and let it scan for the zip. When asked to update select yes and when it ask to reboot just select no. Go into your new recovery and flash a rom or you can flash the superuser from the recovery. That last part is up to you.
I think I got it.

Stuck in boot loop

I was flashing Supercharged V5 Rom and followed all the instructions step by step, everything went fine until I rebooted and now I'm stuck in the boot loop.
I can't access CWM no matter what methods I try.
How can I get out of this so I can re-flash my back up and get to stock again?
first off it sounds like you need to flash the FXZ to get your phone back.
here is a link for that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607083
when you did the restore, did you wipe/factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik?
Yes I did all that it said to do, I'm not sure where went wrong. I never had an issue with rom's on my OG Atrix.
Thank you so much for the FXZ, I couldn't find it anywhere and that's all I need. Just a soft brick
Your welcome.

I'd flash the the cwm on boot mod so you can always restore. I speak from experience. Ive been where you are before

I have used the other one without problems too bu this should work. You will always boot into cwm so you can restore if softbricked. Hit reboot to boot normallu

Okay so I'm using the script method described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539167
However I find it unclear of what exactly to do with the script?
I'd rather use this before using RSD.
Its the same thing essentially. Never used it though
Sent from my MB865 using XDA
So using the method you posted, how am I supposed to access those two apps needed in order for it to work?
If you are still bricked you have no choice but to fzx back to stock. Then root and install the bootstrap. Backup. Do the cwm on boot stuff. Flash your desired rom. Now if you bootloop you can pull the battery a.d your back un cwm to restore a backup or reflash

Okay yeah I was confused for a minute. I'm just waiting for the FXZ to finish downloading.
Good luck and backup often. Dont forget the thanks button exists if ive helped

Thank you very much!
Now my problem is RSD doesn't want to recognize my phone. I have all the latest drivers, current version of RSD and everything. Running as administrator as well.

Cant make a nandroid in recovery

Yesterday I rooted my 8013 note with UEALGB software and tried to make a nandroid in high on android cwm. It would reboot recovery everytime i started the backup process. So i flashed TWRP through goo manager app then tried to make a nandroid and the same thing would happen. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Edit: I just tried to flash the stock recovery and it seems like I am stuck with cwm or twrp. I flashed stock recovery through Odin and it said it was successful but when I reboot into recovery I still have custom recovery.
Edit: Seems to only happen when I try to backup the system partition.

Zeodmaxs root without recovery first then I went back and flashed high on android cwm through Odin later in the night because I wanted to start playing around with stuff.

The root injected image causes problems. I think you're gonna have to ODIN the original image back on it to fix it. Search around, it's here somewhere.
Go for method #2 next time. Roots without an issue.
Did you flash the the Superuser.zip file after flashing Zedomaxs cwm.tar fie in odin? This is needed to get true root priveleges.
Not sure why you can't reflash a stock rom though, that's how I've always gotten rid of root access to revert back to stock...

[Q] Rooted my verizon s3 with instructions on this forum and now I'm am stuck

Everything was fine with the root however I used a font app installer that got the phone stuck in a boot loop (on the rainbow screen). How do I get back to rooted JB?
Did you do a back up of your original rom? You need to get back into recovery...
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No I didn't. I didn't see that in the instructions or I missed it. Any thoughts on how to get back to rooted JB?
Well if the font app got you into the boot loop then I don't think you lost root, I would get back into recovery wipe cache and hit reboot... See if that works... Good luck
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately, I tried that. I think I did an accidental factory reset too but nothing has brought it back from the boot rainbow screen.
Did you unlock using EZ Unlock v1.2? You only mentioned that you rooted.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No, I didn't use that. I followed the instructions to root found here (worked no problem until I met that $&#^%#& app) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 I think I can reset using Odin I just don't know what to use
Aight, well did you unlock the bootloader? Your response dictates the suggested route to resolve this.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I did follow the instructions to unlock the bootloader
If that's the case then you just need to boot into recovery and flash a rom. If you were running just stock rooted & unlocked VRBLK3, it's easier to just flash a rooted stock rom like the official VRBLK3 leak here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034118
Try just flashing that, without wiping, then boot into the rom.
or
If you were on a custom rom, just reflash that rom via recovery and you'll be fine. Unfortunately you lose all your settings of you wipe data in recovery so try reflashing either option without wiping if you absolutely need to try recovering whatever data already exists in your current rom. If this doesn't work, format data, wipe cache then flash the rom.

I will give it a shot and let you know. Thanks so much! I was on stock ROM btw.
Cool, this should work

Ok, this is a zip file. Does it have to be on the phone? If so, how do I put it there?

Yes it does need to be there. If you have an sdcard just drag and drop onto it directly then flash in your custom recovery. Conversely, you should be able to boot into recovery and try connecting your phone to the laptop then dragging the zip over.
The longer method will be to Odin flash VRBLK3 and start all over from there.

I don't use CWM but did you go to Mounts and Storage and select "Mount /sdcard"? Does it connect now?

Aight well since that failed, you have to do this the long way: Odin flash the VRBLK3 rooted image from your laptop onto your phone. Choose one of the two images for VRBLK3 and follow the directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436
Edit: I realize I didn't ask but do you have an sd card?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
That worked! Thanks so much. Now, what is the best practice for backing things up so that I don't have this problem again? Should I root first then backup? Do I still have to unlock bootloader? Just wanting to handle this properly from this point forward.
It should be rooted already if you installed the Odin files from MrRobinson thread. It should come with either SuperSU or SuperUser correct? You also should still be unlocked but you can re-unlock using EZ Unlock v.1.2 from the following thread and you're undeniably unlocked. You'll hear a brief audio message if it worked.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/
Also, please perform a nandroid back in CWM so you have something stable to return to if something goes awry in the future. That backup would have cut all this down to one simple step. You don't need to be unlocked to perform a nandroid however you do need to be rooted with a custom recovery.
Lastly, perform an IMEI backup using the "Comprehensive IMEI Backup" thread in the dev section. Do this and save the resulting Synergy zip from backup methods A and B in more than one place not on your phone. This is more so a precaution because flashing things in recovery can and may result in a complete loss of connection with Verizon.

Which root method to use?

Hi. Forgive me if I am in the wrong section. I want to door my Rogers one x. I went to the Rogers one x compilation and could not find the right one. My firmware is 3.17.631.2. Can I use the root method listed for 3.18? I do not want to mess things up. I previously used Hassoons toolkit to unlock the boot loader. Now when I use it to install tarp, I do not think it recognizes my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Think you.

All you need to do is go to htcdev and unlock your bootloader there, then you can flash TWRP 2.6, and flash a custom ROM, smooth sailing!

I have already unlocked my bootloader previously. It is flashing twrp that I am having problems with.

I had downloaded a twrp zip file and unzipped it as well as an SU file. From there I am unsure how to flash them onto my phone. I did plug my phone into my PC and tried to locate the internal SD but could not. If you could give me any clearer directions, that would be great. Thank you.

I know you were able to install TWRP using Goo Manager. But the proper way to install using your PC, would be using fastboot, with the command:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
Where "filename" is the actual name of the recovery .img file.
Another thing to note, you don't need to unzip the recovery zip file.
