Does anyone have an solution to cover/protect the camera lens on the phone?
Not so much from scratches, but mostly lint/dust.
I seem to have this problem with most phones (not just the Optiums V), and it seems to be a function of manufacturers recessing the lens to protect it from scratches, or surrounding it with a bezel.
Crap just accumulates against the edges, and I find I have to clean it out every so often or the picture quality suffers.
Wrap your shirt around your pinky and shove it in there man. Lol

Lol yep, the simple solution! If I ever remember, I like to put some alcohol or some sort of cleaning fluid and wipe around with a cotton swab.
I just cleaned mine the other day with a damp q-tip. Then used the dry side to wipe off the little bit of water left on the cover.
I am going to do this about once a week or so just to keep crap outta there!
ok guys, this is the cleaning thread for the P500 - i'm right?
so, here is my question: how do you clean the particles between the lcd board and the glass over it? is there a way to do that or must we life with that?
the dust underneath? would love an answer to this

My p500 suffers from this, the only solution is to take it apart from what i've gathered, which will void your warranty. :/
sent my phone in with the dust problem, rooted and running cm7 and they repaced the lcd, changed the plastic screen front for gorrilla glass free of charge. tested resestance withe a swiss cooking knife.

Well bricked actually.. So they probably just hooked it up to the kdz. The problem with it though is when the phone heats up the moisture on the screen heats up and dries and scrolling is unbearable.

I am creating this thread to talk about when you dropped your phone and if it survived.
So here is my story....
I went to the movies with my wife and I had my phone in a pouch and was sitting on my lab. I moved my leg and my phone slipped from my lab and by the sound of it sliding on the floor, I knew it had slipped off the pouch. I started looking for it with my hands since couldn't see anything, couldn't find it, thankfully my wife did find it.
My wife handed it to me and my biggest fear was that my beautiful shiny, screen will be all scratched, to my amazement no scratchs on the screen whatsoever, it did get scratch on the metal part, but not bad at all. So now I can really say that Gorilla glass works on concrete lol
What's your story?

That crossed my mind after I watched a tutorial on how to replace the digitizer. The lowest temp of the heat gun I have is 500f. I'll be using the wife's hair dryer instead.
Got the new digitizer. Installed it. Now I have issues. the center of the screen and just a little lower act as if its being pressed constantly. I don't know what the deal is... did I get a bad digitizer? Did I do something wrong? FML
I was wondering, whats the best method to clean the dirt/dust that get stuck just on the edge of the screen !?

Use scotch tape and just dab into the areas with dust (don't try to sweep it with the tape, you'll just leave glue on it.).

Excellent solution. Also, if you have one of those pressurized air cans, for cleaning keyboards, that helps.
Go to a local computer store and buy this green gooey stuff called "cyber clean". It removes dust from hard to reach places. It's works pretty good on my one x.

Compressed air is the best for cleaning electronics unless you've really gunked it up. Don't go poking anything in there unless you really have to.
If air doesn't work, there are specialized cleaning solutions that will work; make sure you get something that is designed for electronic use and follow the directions.

I usually use a very slim piece of paper to get the particles out.. if I have my compressed air, that works super well also.

I believe that it is a slight design flaw. Because of how small the camera is and how far it is receded in the phone, it seems like a hard placce to get dust out. Have had my One X for about a month and it has the same issue and it gets kind of annoying, although i've sort of learned to look past it because as soon as it is cleaned, it seems to pick up more dust.
I'm tempted to cut a small square of clear screen protector and stick it on to keep the dust out. Not sure how much it will affect the picture quality though =p

Thought about that too. Would have to rely on a case to keep the lip from lifting. Even then though, you risk the lower lip from peeling unless you put a high quality protector on it with good adhesion. I had a similar thing going on my Hero on the rear camera.. though the back cover was good enough to hold the screen protector on.

So, what's the final solution? I have the same problem on my lumia 920.
I just noticed this morning that the housing that surrounds the lens is all scratched and scuffed. Phone is 2 weeks old, never dropped etc. I dont have a case for the phone so im guessing it was caused from being in my pocket. Has this happened to anyone else...its like I took sand paper to it.

I have been bothered by those damn scratches too! Then I saw a comment above about removing the plastic... I thought I had gotten all the packaging off but if you look closeley you will see the plastic scuffed ring in my photo. Glad I have that off now!!!
I'm thinking that plastic cover is the only thing keeping the lens off the surface when laying the phone down on anything "screen up".
It's a design flaw I suppose.
But I wouldn't take it off unless you have a case for your phone... Otherwise what's gonna keep the lens from physically touching the surface of the desktop or table when you lay your phone down screen up?

How did you get the sticker off? I thought a sticker was there but some scratching seemed to fail and made me think I was wrong. Any special techniques used to remove it?
Anyone experience any lens scratching after removing the sticker and not having a case?
Well we know everyones protective cover gets all scratched up, mine included.
When you lay the camera down on its back the whole weight of the camera rest on the lens kind of a kind of a crappy set up if you ask me
Its only safe to assume the lens would get scratched also

Awesome! I'll give this a try. Thank you so much for your tip! Did you find that the camera lens touches the surface/gets scratched when you place the phone face up?
It's unfortunate the camera lens is designed to stick out past the backing slightly. It leads to scratches.
I think it's a result of thickness of the camera unit.
A nice fix with added benefit would be an OEM extended battery with battery cover to allow the lens to be inset from the backing.
