Pocket Informant end-of-life on WM, for free - TG01 Themes and Apps

I've been using Pocket Informant (in my opinion the best PIM software never made for mobile devices) for ages
And this week end , moving apps from the official ROM to the last fxdjacentyfxd ROM, I visited the Pocket Informant web to see if it was a new release....and I've found a note saying that they have stopped development for Windows devices (even Windows 7!!):

As you may be aware, Alex recently announced end-of-life for Windows Mobile products. You can download them (and "buy them" at no charge from Mobihand), but here are keys you can use for PI and Journal Sync:
Pocket Informant 9 - Windows Mobile PPC (touchscreen) - Y3QAT-8A8QY-MMYU3-YUY2G-CMWSA
Pocket Informant 9 - Windows Mobile Smart Phone (no touchscreen) - AGKCD-A22CU-EQ6C5-AQWSG-S3Q8A
Journal Sync - 02-R10371866-298
Download links:
Pocket Informant http://download.pocketinformant.com/9/
Journal Sync: http://download.pock...or_PI_Setup.exe
Thanks,
Don
after that I've found a thread here:

It's a pity, and it's just another fact that proves that WM users we are a kind of "Jurassic Parc" of the mobile devices, far away from Iphones and Androids
The only good new is that you can install this app from the oficcial page for free. Test it! it's agreat program to organize your professional and leisure life (and now for free, that has been a " beau geste" from the owner, WEBis, to all the WM users for all these years toguether)

I don`t know I should be happy or I should cry.

SBSH Calendar (non-touch) never fixed for WM6.5
@Pere
Since everyone has stopped developing for WM Standard (non-touch), we are some kind of Jurassic Park, right.
I am a SBSH Calendar (Papyrus, non-touch) fan - but they never fixed the Calendar to work with WM6.5!
It's a shame but understandable.

Giving PI9 away for free is a nice way to say goodbye!

Wizard WM6 Software

Hi
im new to this, have just upgraded my xda mini s to TNT3 WM6 rom and i was wondering, what software you cant live without, whether its cos its useful, or just fun.
please leave name of software, quick description if it isnt obvious, whether it is freeware and where to find it
thanks
ill start
so far,
spb mobile shell and phone suite - extended phone features - www.spbsoftwarehouse.com
slide2unlock (possibly the only thing i like from the iphone) - freeware - found on xda-dev
wififofum - wireless network radar - freeware - http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/applications/wififofum/

As an alternative to spb phone suite, check out PhoneAlarm http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html . There is a lite version that may have take up less memory with the same functionality, plus there are some neat skins to customize it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=260668
Try there...
My must haves:
PIM setup:
---------
SPB Pocket Plus w/ SPB Pocket Diary on the Today screen. I like the big launch icons right up front, just like the good old Palm (or iPhone, natch), but having all my PIM stuff just a tab away, with pop up windows to boot.
http://www.spbsoftwarewarehouse.com
AgendaOne (my fave of the 3rd party PIM replacements) http://www.developerone.com
Resco Viewer (best pic viewer IMHO and worth the money)
http://www.resco.net
Freeware:
Slide2Unlock (was a long time MortSaver fan, but like the info available on S2U better)
TCPMP (haven't tried commercial CorePlayer, because there's no demo)
http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/
Most of the other additions are included in Faria's ROMs, so it's always a good idea to see what he's packed in there.
PS: just swapped from NBD 7.4 to Faria's Real Thing. TouchFLO worked fine, but I don't think it's an interface for me.
My Apps
I personally prefer Spb PhoneSuite for the call filtering... if PhoneAlarm ever adds this I might just have to re examine.... but for now, Phone Suite has my vote....
Apps on my "Must Have" list:
Mars Weatherpanel
O2Plus
Microsoft Voice Command 1.6
Total Commander
Today Warrior
Battery Status Extended
Inesoft's Address Book
PpcPimBackup
Microsoft Reader (have a ton of .lit books!! )
pTravelAlarm (love that bugle!!)
IndiBar
Apps on my "I like but can survive without" list:
Mobipocket Reader
Synchro Time
Wisbar Advanced
1-Calc
Sompy Player
Pocket Informant
Today Screen stuff:
Spb Diary
Spb Time
Microsoft Voice Command
VistaHide Battery Gauge
Frequently-used apps:
Total Commander
Slingplayer Mobile
IM+
Microsoft Live Search (with the maps, directions, lookups)
Remote Desktop Mobile

Magician WM4 Incompatiblity Issues

As Magician cant run WM5 or WM6. Almost all new Applications cannot run on Magician as they are not compatible with WM4. So any solutions to run the Applications on Magician? A patch or something that emulates WM5 API on WM4 and allows WM5/6 Applications to be Installed/Used. ?
yea! this way it good.
look this one
this gx.dll can use wm5 games on wm3
Here ya go WinMo lovers, a screen shot of the purported next generation Windows Mobile OS codenamed Crossbow, courtesy of MS Mobile News. Sure, it could just be a WinMo 5.0 theme for all we know but if this is the full Pocket PC homescreen above, then we can expect a glossier look, continued softkey support, and a smattering of oh so Vista icons when this, and the SmartPhone version are released in the first half of 2007. As we already heard from Microsoft, Crossbow will feature a new version of Office Communicator and "strong links with Office 2007 and Exchange 12." If all this still leaves you aching for the hotness of Photon, well, suck it up son 'cause that's not scheduled to hit until the first half of 2008.
I have nothing to say with this issue but maybe just a few threads that you may want to count on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452501 for a list of magician today + other software.
http://www.pointui.com for a good screen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444414&page=8 for a good today replacement that gives you really Vanilla 2D and Diamond skins for your today (but in Chinese). I have translated a skin with iphone - just look into the forum with keyword iphone2.
Of course, if you are running magician you might want to consider the tx203 rom, which is the best rom for me - some reported buggy but I have been running it for 1 year on my o2 mini without any problem.

can anyone help me? I've been looking for a dictionary app for the hd2 and haven't had any luck! ino there is tons for the iphone so just woundering if there is any for this, thanks.
I am using "Langenscheidt Dictionary for Windows Mobile".
But I guess it's only available in german...
Install Microsoft Reader and then download the free Encarta Pocket Dictionary. I have used it for ages with other Windows Mobile devices. Actually can read various books with pocket Microsoft Reader. Ed
Edit.... Not sure Microsoft Reader will work with 6.5.... It appears the available app is for wm 6.1 maybe you could try it for us and report back. Regards

As a matter of fact I do think that there are lots of really good softs for windows mobile and they definitely can compete with Iphone ... and without the need to jailbreak or hack your own phone to be able to customize it a little bit !
But it is also a fact that it is more difficult to find the softs as there is no softaware catalog that could compete with the centralized AppStore : you have to search with google with a lots of keywords : Pocket PC, wm5, wm6, wm6.1, wm6.5, windows mobile and so on ...
<OFF TOPIC>
Yet the biggest enemy of Window Mobile in the ability to compete with Iphone is from my point of view ... Microsoft :
- With the aberrant conditions to entry MarketPlace for developers,
- And with their crappy windows phone 7 series that is maybe the biggest step backward in computer industry that I've ever seen,
they will totally kill Window Mobile and commit suicide to their mobile department !

I got it working good

Apart from "Encarta Pocket Dictionary" it is available the "Oxford English Dictionay" in .lit format for free some where in the net, and if you have a dictionary in .doc format (with hypertextual links) you can convert it to .lit format using the appropriate mirosoft word patch, all links will work in .lit too.

Synchronisation throught SkyDrive (WM 6.5 / WM 6.5.3)

Hello everyone,
I watched an interesting TV commercial yesterday showing a kind of live synchronisation between a Win7 computer and a Windows Phone 7 phone.
The stunning thing was that all changes performed at the PC came to the phone at once!
Here's the spot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXg4sZ8IUXI
Is this also possible under WM 6.5 or 6.5.3?
I have just read through some threads and they told that the programs used are OneNote 2010 Mobile / Desktop version and synchronisation via SkyDrive.
Some users mentioned this would not work under older WM versions since it is not compatible. Can anyone help and provide some more information concerning that issue?
Thanks in advance!
I use GoodSync for that (My Documents), but this isn't exactly what you're looking for.

[Q] MS Outlook and Android smartphone

Hi,
I heavily use Microsoft Outlook (ver 2010) for work and home usage. So far I was using a Nokia phone (XpressMusic 5530) and have been extremely happy about Nokia Suite integrating very well with my Outlook data and synchronizing very well my multimedia data. :good:
I just got myself my first Smartphone (Galaxy S4 mini), it was a gift, and learned how much I miss Nokia Suite . I have been reading a lot on several forums learning that a lot of users are both complaining for not being able to find something very similar to Nokia Suite, for Android Phones, and for disliking a lot Kies :crying:. Moreover, recently, Samsung announced that Kies will not support Microsoft Outlook 2010 and greater ver.: considering also that Kies does not even sync multimedia data from the phone to the PC (absurd) and the Wi-Fi sync is quite slow.
Can someone please advise me what should I do in order to both enjoy the beauty of a smartphone and also being able to have a comprehensive and stable synchronization system well integrated with native phone apps (if possible)?
I wish to point out few additional info, for best reply:
I wish to avoid purchasing Appleā€™s devices;
I am not interested in Google sync or placing my Outlook data on the Internet. They must sync locally between the PC and the smartphone;
Preferably I wish to use Android OS as I like it quite a lot and it has a lot of apps;
Windows Mobile OS is not so welcomed due to the Metro interface that I dislike a lot and that there are not so many apps as for Android OS.
In the near future I wish to also purchase a tablet and I will have the same problems I have now.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Spiro
