I'm trying to find out where wallpapers are stored on the stock gTablet. (No enhancements have been made to the tablet.) And would like to know if a static wallpaper can be substituted. Also, what is the name of the email program/app that comes with the gTablet? [The one with the wooden background.] THANKS (in advance) for answering!

I think that even the static wallpapers have to be in signed zip files, so it's a pain, I.e. can't just drop a .bmp somewhere.

Thanks for getting back to me, jimcpl! Wow, that's a bummer. I wonder why the android developer folks would have done that?! With the way people like to customize their electronic toys, you'd think that would be an easy option. Hmmmm. So I guess taht means I'm out of luck with changing from one of their very weird static wallpapers?

There may be apps on market that help.
Also, if you install Dolphin mini browser, I seem to recall there was a buttin in the speed screen that would take you to a site where you could choose wallpapers....
Jim
Thank you, jimcpl. I'll look into that! I still can't get my marketplace working to get the Adobe Flah 10.2 and I can't remember where or how I got the v10.1. This is so frustrating to me! PCs seem to be so much easier. Nut perhaps that's because I've been working on the for so much longer! [The whole copying and pasting thing in this gTablet is quite cumbersome!!!]

MartinSchirr over at Android Forums has compiled Fennec for Android, with a demo video and everything. I've tried it to no result on my N1 (hit launch, screen went black and my phone hung; I suspect it's because I'm using apps2sd), but I dunno, maybe you guys might have better luck. Guy's server seems a tad slow, so I slapped it on Sendspace here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/g6kp6p
Update: okay, gave it another whirl. The person responsible for compiling this wasn't kidding about 41 MB; even with apps2sd, it still takes up roughly 33 MB of internal storage. Giant ouch. And here I thought Google Earth was big.
The initial launch results in a black screen and the OS hanging. Not sure why or what it is doing there, but as iSecks said, after rebooting it works. Sort of. I can't for the life of me type in a URL. Kept poking at the address bar and inputting random letters, but no go. This was compiled for use on the Droid, so it may very well not gel with an N1 (I've got Modaco Desire ROM, for what that's worth). If anyone's had better success on an N1, I'd like to hear about it. Still, I must say that it looks a lot more sophisticated than any other Android browser available right now.
Here are some screenshots.
Not working on magic with cupcake rom...
its probably compiled for 2.x
But big news.
I wonder how it can be 40 megabytes when installed... largest app I have seen I think
Installed it on my Droid, works. It's kinda slow, but it works. My phone hung the first time running it, but after a reboot it ran faster than I thought it would run [which was still slow for everyday use.] Nice interface though, I thought it would be harder to use than it actually was. What's nice is it has the popup for unresponsive javascript scripts that let you stop executing them.
Huh, guess Mozilla meant it when they said it's just not optimized for Android yet. I should give it another go.

I take it the name is "GeckoApp" in the Launcher. I tried it on my Nexus One and I get the big Launch button but then its just a black screen. I tried rebooting but got the same. Any idea how to fix it please?
Yeah tried on my nexus as well and its not working same launch button. I think this is weird it has no drawable folders inside and looks just weird inside.

Martin said it doesn't work without a hardware keyboard.
Tried it anyway, got a button on a black screen, clicking on the button left with just the black screen
Waited...nothing...killed it. Will keep an eye out for newer builds!
Works decent in Droid. No touch input, so at this point you need a hard keyboard. I'm sure that will be a quick fix. No multi-touch yet either. It's promising, but it has some catching up to do before it could be a replacement for stock browser.
other links please

Same issue on Droid Eris running 2.1 ROM Leak v2
Works on my droid. Stock 2.0.1. Numbers don't work on keyboard after hitting alt. Animated gifs DO work however, which is nice. It has great potential. Nice to see xda getting talked about and linked to from gizmodo. I would have never found this build. Thanks to OP.
Wont install on my CDMA Hero running Damage's 2.1. I know it won't fully function without a hardware KB. I hoped it would at least load, just for the visual.
Just force closes here on my 32A with Legend ROM.
Looks hot
A couple questions
1) Does it animate gif's like a real web browser should?
2) Can you upload files with it like a real web browser should?
(I can't believe Google left these 2 gigantic critical features OUT)
Any way to get this in scandinavia? Its only available through market, and i cant access the paid apps sections from Norway
It has some big updates from last version, and i want it realy bad.
try to contact the developer
It's now running at v3.02, although to be fair I can't see any difference between this and the previous v3.01.... purely fix's one would assume.
The only thing which annoys me is each time it's updated it kills my settings and you have to go through the whole procedure again... i.e. Location, Clock skin, Weather Skin, and all other manner of boxes to tick/configure.
Why it does not draw from previous info beats me.... but I suppose that's the downside in a widget.

Hi,
Install Market enabler, downloadable from google code.
This lets you fake another operator. works nicely!
Unsure about linking. Please search.

Not being able to purchase items really infuriates me.
Developers harp on (rightly so though) about supporting them and not falling foul to piracy but when you come up against stumbling blocks such as this it's no wonder certain titles get pirated.
Now I do not condone any form of piracy FULL STOP but in your case if the developer will not offer you the chance to pay other than the Market and you can not obtain it legally through pay sources then a search would 'possibly' bring up a pirated version.
I tell you this NOT to entice you to do this but because a Google search does list it as available.
What you do with it is entirely up to you..........
Thanks for all the tips

The only time Beautiful Widgets didn't save my settings was after a major version upgrade (like updating from 2.x to 3.0). All other updates carried over my settings perfectly.

Yes, you are quite right. It was the transition from version 2 to 3 which caused the problem.
Not sure what I thinking of at the time.
Hello again everyone,
Always come here when all searching fails! So thanks!

I use Zune on my PC religiously and if I could use my phone as a remote it would be awesome!
+1 Surely one of the devs on here could come up with this!
Any news out there devs???
I think theres a lot of people who want this!!
thanks
yup Zune desktop is awesome, I now use it religiously for music and videos.
Remote Control on the Marketplace does it and even shows the album art in the background. It also controls VLC, WMP, WMPC, Sound Mixer, and PowerDVD.
Theres an app called remotely possible. You can control most media programs. It costs $5. Its not as responsive as youd like but it does work

Which one are you talking about I cannot find it. The ones I've seen none of them look as slick as the iTunes one....
Hopefully someone out there is making it
Ah, one would think that MS integrates across platforms. They don't and this is a major cause of frustration by users. Save yourself the aggrevation and only think of MS as providing stove-piped solutions. This will make your life better. Of course I haven't been able to do this and I get frustrated at least once a day because of it. I'm guessing that I'm too far down the caring path and it's going to take a major effort to get over this affliction.

its called remote control and the icon is a broken up antenna in white on a black background. Dev. name is Jerome laban I believe. It works great and looks fine. I don't give a crap what it looks like. It works awesome for all the programs it controls and is easy to setup. That's what matters.

(and anyone else thats may like this as well, sorry i cant thank every post)
This was a great find, I think I'm going to try this out. Chrome is a great web browser. Even better to have the Android version before ICE comes to the ATRIX 2.
This is not Chrome - this is Miren browser, just patched up to look like Chrome... Even when you first load it up, it says "Welcome to Miren browser" in a foreign language!
Its mine

Well, since it's not real Chrome, I'll put my effort here...
It's our stock browser except of the icon - the one is old Chromium (hate new 2d versions).
Just flash in CWM, no wipes.

Hi everyone.
I want to ask about program called EReader that's placed in most ROMs for EVO 3D and in ROM Cool-ICS-v13-EvoG too.
I want to know how can I install it to other device?
When I copying it from system folder and trying to install on my ZT-282 C91 Upgrade or other android device it's giving me error and tells that application was not installed.
Please help me with this trouble. On the next week I need to fly far away from civilization and there only books will be available and I'd like to read them on my 10" pad but not on 4.5" smartphone.
Some apps have a data file as well. Maybe you should try copying the data folder over too.
Hit thanks if you found this useful.
Tried too
Thank you for answer.
Can you help me and tell which files and folders must be copied with it?

There is another ereader app here.
http://www.filecrop.com/75657959/index.html
or
https://aldiko.zendesk.com/entries/...n-2-1-0-of-the-aldiko-book-reader-application
or
http://www.filecrop.com/31474921/index.html
The second and third are Aldiko ereaders. Mirrors of eachother. Just use the official second one. Or if it doesn't work, the third one. If you are not happy, use the first one.
download it using the mediafire link.
And you should get an APK. That is an App. Put it on your sd then in your 10". Then use a file manager to install it. If you do not have one, install astro from the market. Then go into your sd with that app. Click on the file then install.
Anyway, back to your prob. You will have to copy the directory (ereader) from the system. And maybe the DATA folder.
It will not be compatible the way you did it because they are two different devices. Copying the system whole will not work.
Also, as a side note. If a post is helpful. Hit the thanks button. Helpers will appreciate it more. I will help you regardless but others may not.
Lets try and get this fixed before your trip. Good to see your reading, expanding. What you reading anyway?
Thank you for helping me.
Readers that you advised are haven't page turning effect like com.htc.ereader and it's sad.
I've started to read many different book cause of that effect )))
I like to read books of fantasy gender and documental books about famous people like Nicola Tesla and other who did a lot useful things for humanity.
If its com.htc.ereader then it is probably an HTC sense application which we all know cannot be brought to a non sense ROM.
And that ROM you linked is sense 3.6. So I'm putting big money on the table its a sense app
