Okay, so I'm aware that the HTC Inspire 4G is basically a Desire HD but for the Americas, I'm just wondering, should my device be registering as a Desire HD model?
Kinda cheap on HTC's part, not even updating the Model ID, if you ask me....
BTW it was like that before I even rooted.

Yes. There are a few driver related things that make the dhd roms not compatible with out some adjustments. Otherwise they are identical.
Yeah, mine even called itself "Desire HD" when I synced it to the bluetooth in my truck.
Mine said Desire HD when I synced to my Ford Edge.
supposedly the inspire has more rom than the desire
market.android.com recognized the phone as an AT&T Desire HD.
The Inspire 4g has the same specs as the desire HD and the same phone body, which for me is a good thing been waiting along time for it to come to america. Was wondering the past few months why the fastest performing android device right out of the box wasnt released for the US Carriers yet. But finally its here, i would wait to see how well the axtrix does with the tegra2 processor but then again i have no faith in Motorola what so ever, and coming from a captivate i have even less faith in Samsung right now.
This was this case for my past HTC phones as well. It would show up as the original version of the phone (i.e. Touch Pro TyTn)

Speaking of Ford, is the Inspire compatible with the Text Messaging stuff in the Microsoft Sync system?
I'm considering getting an Inspire, but would like to have this working in my Ford. I just spent 3 weeks running WP7 on my HD2 and I was able to use the text feature of my Expedition's Sync system for the first time and kind of liked it.
Thanks,

Phandroid ran an article this weekend saying that HTC, on htcsense.com, just listed, besides EVO+, the name Inspire HD. I am seeking the opinions of fellow Inspire owners on the following questions:
1. Do you think the Inspire HD is coming to AT&T?
2. Do you think the HTC Holiday is officially going to be called the HTC Inspire HD?
I think the Inspire HD is coming to AT&T, and I think the Holiday is going to officially be called the HTC Inspire HD. HTC has shown, here lately, that they want to keep a tried-and-true name amongst the carriers. They started with the EVO, then EVO 3D on Sprint. The Incredible, and now Incredible 2 on Verizon. The MyTouch, now MyTouch 4G and 4G Slide on T-Mobile. We have the Inspire 4G on AT&T. It is logical that HTC's next smartphone for AT&T would be called the Inspire HD and, with any luck it is going to be formerly known an the Holiday.

That's some interesting conjecture. I can see the logic in your post. HTC's internal name for our Inspire is Ace so the holiday could become the Inspire HD. It's rumored to have a AUDI display so that can make sense, no pun intended. I just hope they follow Huawei's Sonic and include AT&T and T-mobile HSPA+ bands.

What the op is saying would make a lot of sense.
I was thinking the same thing. Should be an awesome phone, whatever it's called. Now I just have to figure out how to get AT&T to give me one like they did with my Inspire 4G.

The bands wont happen as when the buy out is finished one of them will not be active anymore. Att has already stated that non of the current T-Mobile phone will work on 3g once the buy out is finished. To be honest I am looking forward to it but am not to excited. Anything that can't be done already on my phone is not worth doing. I don't play games so that is not an issue. I think things are moving to fast to bother to keep up. If the rumors are true ill wait for the new HTC nexus
I am biased, I will only buy htc.. I honestly don't think any other phone makers compare. With my fanboy-ness out of the way. I will either get the rumored htc nexus, or what ever the holiday turns out to be. I would be more likely to get a dual-core lte nexus then I would one with sense, but it really depends on when and what is released as I am eligible for an upgrade, and sadly I don't think there are any phones out right now that would be considered an "upgrade".

You know that's right. I got 11 months to go before my upgrade. I doubt my little corner of the world will have LTE by then, but I hope the merger will give AT&T a better selection of delicious HTC flavors.

This phone made me a fellow HTC fanboy, I gotta say.
I always did like them when I was drooling over all the other ones on carriers OTHER than ATT, but at the time of my blackberry to Android conversion, the best Android appeared to be the Captivate.
I couldn't get over the difference in appearance between the cappy and the aria, and since the aria was the best HTC phone they had at the time, choosing the Captivate was easy...
And regrettable, in retrospect.
The along comes the inspire, makes me pay off contract, and the rest is history.

I heard that. I actually came from WinMo so there was some HTC goodness with AT&T, but other carriers always had better models.

Am I missing something? I thought that the HTC Inspire was the Desire HD just renamed for the U.S. market?

We're talking about the next generation Inspire. Inspire HD, possibly the Holiday.

HTC Holiday is what i consider my only "upgrade" i hope/wish it is the next Inspire. I could care less for motorola, samsung, Nokia, etc. I had them before, gave HTC a try, this is my first HTC and will never go back to any other brand.

I hear ya! This my first smartphone, first Android, and first HTC. I won't go with anything else from now on. I agree, the Holiday is my next phone when I upgrade in December. Pretty positive it will be called the Inspire HD. We just need the official announcement of the Holiday, where it will receive its official name.

What the HTC hasn't even announced it yet... the only info on it is leaked, should at least got some specs like battery size >_<. Though I am guessing the test model would be sporting gingerbread and not icecream sangwhich.

Running sense 3.0. taller and more narrow than the Inspire, same screen resolution, Pretty slick
I don't think there's any question that the Holiday will be the Inspire HD. With that being said, it's going to be my next device .
Well how long til it's out if it's the Holiday you're testing?
Hi,
My brother has got the HTC Desire S and I would like to get him a case ....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-S...049944?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c8808b98
Can some one please tell me if there is a difference between the Desire S and the Desire S G12? Can I use the cover linked above?
Thanks a lot for any input
no difference
Thanks Eclipse
Ebay lists G12, S510 and S510e separately and I was wondering what to do as my bro lives in a different place so, cannot even see his phone!
Thanks again!
as far as i know there may be very slight differences, in tearms on operator branding and suchlike. But physically they should be identical. try looking up further info on google
I wrote to a couple of sellers on ebay asking if the case would fit and got replies such as this:
hi, I am glad to service you. this item is just for HTC Desire S S510e
so it is not fit for Desire S G12 and S510
have a nice day

This was a reply from more than 1 seller that sold either the G12 of S510 or S510e and therefore I presume there is some difference.
Can someone tell me from where I can the model type?
Thanks

There will be a work around, like a build.prop edit or similar.
It's been achieved for Hulu+ as one example, so I'm pretty sure the boffins on Xda will figure out a solution.

As the thread title suggests, Telus in Canada is also set to release the HTC One X. I am wondering if this will be the exact same one that Rogers offers. The screen shot on their web page shows a black picture.
Does anybody else know any inside information? After a phone release, how long until a carrier branded RUU pops up usually?

i believe we already have 1.91 which is Telus. We have the radio and I believe a system dump. but I haven't seen an ruu.
id say it'll be the same hardware wise. but Telus likes their name on their devices... so it's prolly just branded. (I love how rogers doesn't care... they just make boot animations :-D)

Excellent. Well now that it will be out for my carrier, I might just have to snag this baby up.
Will this version work with WIND/Mobilicity?

Nah, my desire is compltely unbranded, as is the desire hd, and looking at my local store today, the One S and V. Out of the three Canadian carriers Telus adds the least amount of bloatware too.
Damn, just checked out the specs on the Telus coming soon page and......16gb, I was hoping we would get lucky and land the S4 LTE 32gb version like the Aussies.......Damn again! And yes, the storage issue is indeed a very dead horse, just a quick obeservation not meant to promote discussion or debate. There are many, many other threads for that!
