Isn't this just the Desire HD with AT&T? - HTC Inspire 4G

Isn't this phone literally just the HTC Desire HD but on the AT&T network?

Yes. There are a few driver related things that make the dhd roms not compatible with out some adjustments. Otherwise they are identical.

Yeah, mine even called itself "Desire HD" when I synced it to the bluetooth in my truck.

Mine said Desire HD when I synced to my Ford Edge.

supposedly the inspire has more rom than the desire

market.android.com recognized the phone as an AT&T Desire HD.

The Inspire 4g has the same specs as the desire HD and the same phone body, which for me is a good thing been waiting along time for it to come to america. Was wondering the past few months why the fastest performing android device right out of the box wasnt released for the US Carriers yet. But finally its here, i would wait to see how well the axtrix does with the tegra2 processor but then again i have no faith in Motorola what so ever, and coming from a captivate i have even less faith in Samsung right now.

This was this case for my past HTC phones as well. It would show up as the original version of the phone (i.e. Touch Pro TyTn)

Speaking of Ford, is the Inspire compatible with the Text Messaging stuff in the Microsoft Sync system?
I'm considering getting an Inspire, but would like to have this working in my Ford. I just spent 3 weeks running WP7 on my HD2 and I was able to use the text feature of my Expedition's Sync system for the first time and kind of liked it.
Thanks,

[Q] i need help in that

i am going to buy a new hd device but i am confused . which is better the htc evo 4g or htc desire hd ? I need answers with analysis . thanks
I would stay away from the hd2. its a windows phone, not that many apps, and it just sucks in general. as for the other phones, my choice would be the evo.
Just Like the last person said. Hd2 is a windows mobile phone which isn't a bad thing in my personal opinion, but it will not compete with an android phone. Especially an evo. My first smartphone was a windows mobile phone which I bought a year ago and I absolutely loved it BUT 2 Months ago I bought a cheap Android device to See what the hype was all about. And since then I've upgraded 2x. I'm now using a droidX and if I weren't in a contract with verizon I'd get an evo next. As you probably know the evil claim to fame its faster 4g network capability. But... if you want to take advantage of this it will cost you an extra 10 dollars a month from what I've been told otherwise you will be using the same 3g network as everybody else. Also 4g is only available in a very few markets around the country so if you were buying it just to get faster internet then I would definitely make sure that I am in 1 of those areas first. According to all the reviews and evo owners it is a great phone wether your using 3g or 4 g and it's definitely 1 of the top 5 phones out right now. Hd2 Probably isn't in the top 15. The hd2 Can do lots of the same things as an android phone But the apps are often hard to find and often contain and lots of bugs. The good news is 4g will expand to include the rest of the country within the next couple years. You may want to take into consideration that there are rumors that much better devices will be coming out in the beginning of 2011 and supposedly there are going to be some with dual processors. So you may want to consider waiting a few extra months before buying a new phone and committing to a contract. I hope this helps you.

guys i asked about the desire hd not the htc hd2 . anyway thanks at all
Oops. Sorry. Lol. That was 20 minutes of my life wasted on a useless post lol. At least now you have a basic analysis on the evo. I don't hear about the desire very often. I would still go with the evo.
UPDATE: I changed my mind. I looked into the desireHD, its gonna be faster and more efficient since it uses a newer upgraded snapdragon processor and gpu combo along with more memory. Plus the camera has been upgraded with a new bigger sensor improving pic quality. Also mentioned was the use of an updated Sense UI. I didn't see anything about it using 4g so im not sure about that. It doesn't have the foreward facing camera like the Evo though. Evos battery is 18% larger but the HDH is more efficient so battery life should be about the same.
NOW THAT SHOULD BE A LOT MORE HELPFUL!

I will be buying the atrix off contract at release been saving my pennies for a while and now I have something to want.
Atrix seems great, but it could take a while to root. Every carrier and manufacturer has their problems IMO.
The Atrix does seem good, but i want to see a nice HTC device on AT&T. I've heard we might be getting the Desire HD.

I love every htc ive had, just the inspire, spec wise doesn't seem to be much better then mine now. Think I prefer hummingbird with it's gaming support over snapdragon. At least moto seems to be stepping its game up. But I am also worried about locked boot loader. Wish htc would come out with a similar device. I would give it a few months to see if the Atrix has any issues and how easy it is to root/put custom roms on.
I mean look at the Captivate, aside from some phones having GPS problems and small issues it really is a great phone.
And if ya look at the Atrix, hell the CPU might just break once maximized to the full potential. You NEVER know!

I can guarantee that the Rep doesn't have access to that information. At&t gives reps very limited info on future releases. Besides they're always testing new devices and they're deffinitely keeping an eye on the competition. With that said, if a manufacturer plans on launching a device that Att wants they will do everything they can to add it to their lineup.

Why is AT&T rolling out so many 4g units? Isn't their 4g network still about two years away? If so, these units will be obsolete before you can take full advantage of their capabilities.

Inspire 4g vs desire hd screen? a couple of doubts about inspire 4g

1. How does the super lcd screen on the inspire 4g compares to the desire hd? do u have some comparison pictures? the desire hd received pretty harsh critics , washed out colors and horrible black levels, is the inspire 4g quite better in this department?
2. With heavy use how much does the battery lasts? im on my phone listening music ALL the time, using twitter, whatsapp and sms and ocasional browsing , ive been told that with the kind of use i give to my phone , the battery would only last for 6 hours :/
3. Whats at & t like with their updates? i know gingerbread 2.3/ 2.4 is a sure thing but what about the next releases? do they abandon their phones quickly?
They are practically identical. Inspire 4G is just a repackaged desire hd for at&t. The differences are subtle really...

I'll answer 2 & 3, since other have taken care of 1 so well.
2. That is about right. Maybe 8 hours if you are judious about power monitoring. There is no "big battery" that will fit into the Inspire or the DHD. When I need extra time from my I4G, I use my Sparq 2.0
3. I have never relied upon ATT for updates. They have always been terribly late with their releases, when they do provide them. My last phone was an unbranded TP2 I bought in HK just because I was so frustrated by ATTs glacial software update process. I have rooted my I4G and plan on not waiting any longer for ATT and their slow and bulky software.

8 hours?! thats kinda ridiculous , 12 hours would have satisfied me, i dont even ask for two days of battery time like some people is expecting from their smartphones
Such a shame about at & t updates , yeah we have custom roms but we always need the drivers from the official roms to have fully working roms with not so many bugs , like outrageous battery drain for example

He must be an extremely heavy user to only be getting 8 hours out of this thing. I got 16 hours yesterday with almost 4 hours of screen on time. Several short phone calls, several texts, a lot of email checking, internet browsing, and xda reading, and a couple hours of listening to music. Stock rooted.

I'm pretty sure the Inspire has a regular TN and not an SLCD, despite what's stated on spec websites. I used a regular HTC Desire for a little bit and the viewing angles were incredible for an LCD. On the Inspire though, the colors invert quickly, exactly the way TN's do.

tn?
The Inspire is definitely not a standard LCD. Just put one next to an Evo and you will see that clearly. Also, I have no issues with viewing angles on my Inspire. Even when sitting flat on my desk and to the right of my computer, I can see the display perfectly. This would be a pretty severe right angle.
There are plenty of reviews that show the display as a standout component as well.
If I use Telus DHD with Att network without purchasing data package, will ATT recognize this phones IMEI and attach the data package automatically?
No they should not reconize it. Well at least the Telus HTC Desire was not recognized or even the Telus HTC Surround. I know that's a Win 7 phone, but it's the same situation.

Many of the original Desire's had AMOLED screens that were produced by Samsung until shortages caused HTC to switch to SLCD. If the model that you had possessed an AMOLED screen it would trump the Inspire's SLCD, akin to putting an Inspire next to a Captivate or a Droid Incredible.

I can't predict exactly what will happen, but I've been using a Telus HD2 on AT&T with my MEdiaNet plan and they have not forced me into one of their new data plans. Not until yesterday when I upgraded to an Inspire, that is.
Go back to the att store or call customer care and get your unlimited data restored. You should keep on it until you get satisfaction. I have my inspire on that plan.

Desire HD or Inspire 4G? Because the Inspire 4G is supposed to have a better screen. I can't verify that claim as I don't have a DHD to compare.

I would like your honest opinion on the HTC Inspire HD

Phandroid ran an article this weekend saying that HTC, on htcsense.com, just listed, besides EVO+, the name Inspire HD. I am seeking the opinions of fellow Inspire owners on the following questions:
1. Do you think the Inspire HD is coming to AT&T?
2. Do you think the HTC Holiday is officially going to be called the HTC Inspire HD?
I think the Inspire HD is coming to AT&T, and I think the Holiday is going to officially be called the HTC Inspire HD. HTC has shown, here lately, that they want to keep a tried-and-true name amongst the carriers. They started with the EVO, then EVO 3D on Sprint. The Incredible, and now Incredible 2 on Verizon. The MyTouch, now MyTouch 4G and 4G Slide on T-Mobile. We have the Inspire 4G on AT&T. It is logical that HTC's next smartphone for AT&T would be called the Inspire HD and, with any luck it is going to be formerly known an the Holiday.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
That's some interesting conjecture. I can see the logic in your post. HTC's internal name for our Inspire is Ace so the holiday could become the Inspire HD. It's rumored to have a AUDI display so that can make sense, no pun intended. I just hope they follow Huawei's Sonic and include AT&T and T-mobile HSPA+ bands.

The bands wont happen as when the buy out is finished one of them will not be active anymore. Att has already stated that non of the current T-Mobile phone will work on 3g once the buy out is finished. To be honest I am looking forward to it but am not to excited. Anything that can't be done already on my phone is not worth doing. I don't play games so that is not an issue. I think things are moving to fast to bother to keep up. If the rumors are true ill wait for the new HTC nexus
I am biased, I will only buy htc.. I honestly don't think any other phone makers compare. With my fanboy-ness out of the way. I will either get the rumored htc nexus, or what ever the holiday turns out to be. I would be more likely to get a dual-core lte nexus then I would one with sense, but it really depends on when and what is released as I am eligible for an upgrade, and sadly I don't think there are any phones out right now that would be considered an "upgrade".

This phone made me a fellow HTC fanboy, I gotta say.
I always did like them when I was drooling over all the other ones on carriers OTHER than ATT, but at the time of my blackberry to Android conversion, the best Android appeared to be the Captivate.
I couldn't get over the difference in appearance between the cappy and the aria, and since the aria was the best HTC phone they had at the time, choosing the Captivate was easy...
And regrettable, in retrospect.
The along comes the inspire, makes me pay off contract, and the rest is history.

I'm familiar with the Bravo because my daughter has one. The Bravo doesn't even come close to the Inspire in comparison.

Thanks everyone, I will be looking for an Inpsire tonight.
The Inspire is great yes, but its pretty old now. The SGS II or Nexus Prime would be better options looking forward. Even the M1 by Xiaomi is far better.

What does your Inspire NOT do that you want? I personally will be holding on to this phone for a while. this phone is a beast. rooted, running CM7.
Do not underestimate the Inspire 4G. There is constant Roms being updated and created for it. Fortunately for us we share the same hardware with the Desire HD so we can easily use both sections. This is something that many overlook. Do the research and see for yourself. I've owned my device since the stores first released it and have never looked back.
Bare in mind it is a single core android. But after rooting and installing a custom Rom it rivals my brothers dual core Atrix 4G.

Inspire is great. SGSII is better. I have both.

Update
Inspire arrived saturday, went to ATT store sunday to keep unlimited plan. This this is great, had gingerbread installed, alot smoother, faster, and huge screen is a plus. I think I'm good for a couple of years now. Much better than the Bravo (Son is getting the Bravo to replace Iphone 3GS) one plus about bravo and inspire-uses the same plug to charge.
Will definately need to read up on rooting it and putting clear droid on it.
