Editing Default App Associations? - General Topics

Some time ago I selected the default internet browser to launch anytime I clicked a link in GMail. Now that I've installed other browsers, I'd like to choose a different one to launch instead. How can I change it?

Accessibility is for disabled people (e.g. blind, deaf). Applications that are designed to assist with navigating the device should appear in there.

[Q] How do you disable auto login in the browser?

While trying out the HTC One S browser I noticed that it used my stored Google and Facebook account credentials to log on to the relevant (Google/Facebook) pages automatically, without asking. Is there a setting to prevent this from happening, or at least ask me before doing it?
There was such an option in the browser settings of the Sandvold ICS ROM I used on my Desire, but I can't seem to find the option in the same place on the One S.
It's probably under accounts & sync or there may be an option in your browser. Try going to menu > settings > applications > browser > clear data. Then start a new session and see if it prompts again...

Has anyone figured out how to sync multiple Google calendars??

I tried following the Windows Phone guide, but that didn't work. I'm going nuts over this
This works for Windows 8
(Preform form a desktop\Laptop)
Someone posted a working solution on Microsoft Answers:
Download User Agent Switcher from the Chrome Webstore
Select an iOS device
Go to http://m.google.com/sync
Deactivate Javascript in Settings (Show advanced settings, Content settings)
Click your Windows Mail device
In the URL change supportMultipleCalendars=false to supportMultipleCalendars=true
Submit URL (Press Enter)
Save
Readd your Google Account to your Windows Calendar app. It now works.
This didn't work me. I had to just export the calendar from Google and then import it via my email account on outlook.com.

This has worked well for me. You must do this from another device of course.
the google sync site should work for all, you just need a UA change to a mobile device (or a mobile device) to get to the site so you can change which calendars sync
I dont get any advanced settings option when I open the mobile site with iOS, I only have; Enable "Send Mail As" for this device.
Enable "Delete Email As Trash" for this device.
Help?

You need to change the URL to set "supportMultipleCalendars=true" and reload the page with that parameter. You need to disable Javascript because the Javascript controls keep you from selecting multiple calendars. Turning off that check lets you select all of the calendars. Don't know why there's that restriction as it's pretty clearly an artificial one, but the steps above work when you follow all of them.

I had this problem too and the only way I got around it was by unsubscribing from some of the calendars I had on Google and refreshing the page. Then just resubscribing. I don't know why that worked but it did.

Enable contact searching from the search bar

I saw couple of videos on Youtube about Realme 2 pro and they were able to search the contacts (along with apps and messages) when they swiped down from any of the screen. Unfortunately am not able to search contacts. App and messages search works fine. I checked the search settings also and all three searches are turned on (Settings > Additional Settings > Search).
Is it working fine for everyone here? Anyone knows what could be the problem?
Solution
Settings > Application Management > click show system processes > go to "Search" App. Give this app permissions to view contacts . You should be good

I checked and Search already has permission to view contacts but still it's not working

One AttaBoy for someone who can tell me how to change the default Contacts app on Pixel 4a running 11?

How do I change the default Contacts app on Pixel 4a running Android 11??? Aftering searching for the answer, I can tell you:
1. It is not under Apps & Notifications / Default Apps. (Yes, some apps are listed, but Contacts is not listed.)
2. It is not by Apps / Contacts / Open by default. (It says, "No defaults set")
3. I don't want to run a different launcher. I just want to use a different Contacts app.
It seems like a simple thing, I just can not figure it out.
Any help would be appreciated...
Try installing a new contacts app, then when you try an operation that normally would invoke the contacts app, it should pop up a dialog to select which contacts app should be the default (the built in one or the new one you installed).
Also, it might say "no default app" if there is only one contacts app installed on the device (so there is nothing to choose between), so trying the above will test that theory.

Sorry, should have included that info. Phone has both standard Contacts and a second app "Smart Contacts".

Maybe I figured it out. Loaded third contact app and got the choice for default! Apparently Smart Contacts does not register as a Contacts app... Thanks for the help.
Then certain apps, like the built-in phone app might be hard-coded to use the built-in contacts app for certain functions (but not all contact functions), just like the built-in camera app is hard-coded to use the built-in photos app to preview just taken pictures.
But for things like clicking on a phone number in an email should display a "Select Contact app" if you have two contact apps installed (and you have not selected a default contacts app after installing the second contacts app)

So when that "select contact app" dialog box finally did appear (after you installed the third app), are you saying that "Smart Contacts" wasn't in that list?
yup. When I loaded "Simpler Contacts" app and triggered the contacts, I got a choice between "Contacts" (Google's installed app) and Simpler. Smart Contacts did not appear in the list. (I know Smart Contacts was functional. It would load my contacts when opened.)
I really appreciate the help with this...

Google password popup disable

What is this popup and how can I disable it? It appears anytime I enter a password in an app, website etc. Its really annoying as most apps natively offer the ability to save passwords.
I have turned off all options related to Google Password Manager in my account settings.
