Market on stock TnT 3855... - G Tablet General

So I installed the market on my stock TnT v3855 and after doing the market fix, it has the exact same market as my other G Tab that has TnT Lite and has also done the market fix. Thus, you can surmise that the ro.build.fingerprint string doesn't do much, if anything.
If there's some demand, I may post a guide on how to install the market on 3588 without flashing any ROMs. You need to root + have ADB access but it was trivial to do.

I am interested in this. Could you post the steps.
Thanks

I would also be interested!

Absolutley Interested. Post it man. Post it.

+1 very interested!!!

If this is an April fools joke, I shall FIND you
I also thought about just installing market for the helluvit' to try it out but I don't know how to install the framework without doing some rooting and such.
So +1 to being interested...if it's an April fools thing then I guess you got me too, lol

I want to join in on Rooting my phone

Okay, so after looking at some stuff, I've decided I want to Root my phone. The problem is I am VERY new at this stuff, and sadly I haven't found a tutorial that is for idiots like me haha. I think CM6 looks really cool and I want to start REALLY learning how to take advantage of my phone. Please realize I am VERY clueless, so if someone has an idiots guide on how to get CM6 installed, that would be awesome (like...i don't know what flashing is...which sounds important...).
Also:
-I'm scared ****less of something going wrong and my phone bricking. How likely is this?
-can I unroot in case I chicken out?
-Advice for rooted phones? (i know not to get ota updates, but that's about it)
I've found xda to be the must helpful/friendly forum/community out there...you guys are the only people I trust with this >.< haha

I was in the same boat as you... had NEVER done this stuff before, and, I ended up trying like 3 different methods, and after 2 days of them just bombing, I found this thread:

Took about 20 minutes following it step by step, and came out fully rooted after the first time through. I highly recommend it.

Thank you I had looked through that one, but it uses unrevoked, which I heard doesn't work with CM6?
So I got some time to look through some other posts and I apparently can't get CM6 using that guide because it uses unrevoked...However, SimpleRoot looks ridiculously easy to do and apparently works...If it's not too much work, could someone walk me through how to do root my phone using simpleroot and then installing cm6? It would be GREATLY appreciated.

Then you place the downloaded file on the root of your sd card, reboot into recovery, I suggest wiping data and dalvik cache, then flash from zip. Also you might want to make a nandroid backup before you flash the rom

[REQUEST] CityID.apk

Yes, this is the first time someone actually wants CityID. It's the only thing stopping me from applying the latest update.zip. I've been searching for quite a few hours to no success. Every search I've tried to find the stock CityID app has only led to how to remove it. These all would have been helpful to see before I deleted it through Titanium rather than renaming it. The couple of installs I found have been for other phones, none of which have allowed me to bypass the step in Recovery. Would anyone kindly upload the stock CityID, or even point me in the direction of it. I'm assuming I can just place it back in /system/app/ correct?
I'll add my request to this as well so this topic stays near the top!
I'm also stuck at this error trying to install the new update.zip! I've been doing searches as well and haven't been able to find CityID.apk anywhere!
I'm also assuming that you can just do an adb push of the apk back into the /system/app directory.... fingers crossed!
Try the HeyItsLouFroyo Rom thread in the dev section. He has a zip file of removed apps. Didn't look. But I think it's in there since he said he removed it.

Need the app called Quadrant from the market.
Supposedly there is no change in quadrant meaning it must have some other change in it.
Edit: I'd hold off on flashing the enhancement pack unless you are adventurous. It probably needs a little modification.
Install quadrant from the market. Stock wasabout 1800 mods/ROM 2400
Hey, unless somebody beats me to it, I'll be the guinea pig !!
I was already going to go back to 3053 stock, so what the heck....
I've already downloaded the update, so I'm moving the file over to my Gtab...
Jim
After doing factory reset, it's 1750.
My emulator is showing the update - so either they leaked another UAT (which is very possible) or this is a real official update.
Second time it's 1831.
Since there are no notes on the Viewsonic website I think this is going to be like 3316. They make changes, throw it out for a little bit and use the Guinea Pigs, I mean us... to test it... Then a week later or so they will advertise a new update..

[TOOL] Auto Deodex/Debloat AT&T One X

This tool will automatically deodex your AT&T One X if its rooted and has Busybox installed (one click root tool already does all of this for you). This should make it easier for folks to install modifications since we don't have a CWM .zip of deodexed files quite yet.
http://briefmobile.com/auto-deodex-tool-for-htc-one-x-att
Also, developers are encouraged to take a look at the batch commands. You guys can make custom ROM installers and such with very little effort. This will work until we have CWM.
Edit: Linux version thanks to JeepFreak! http://www.filefactory.com/file/58m4z62jgn51/n/linux-light-deodex_tar_gz
JeepFreak - This currently only works for the 1.72.X releases. It has not been successful on the leaked updates.
Downloading right now.
Will report back with results.
Edit: links are broken.
I click to download it, and says page not found
Oops, didn't realize previous poster had edited to say it.

Will test this out as soon as links are back up. will report back for any issues.

caution-
just a kind word of caution to fellow users:

however,

What have you tried so far? Did you try the g930U_REV_9_ENG_ROOT.tar? I'm wondering if that will still work along with s7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V12.zip. I was just given this phone today and was hoping it had an older version than this "A" version. I don't know if the Samsung Experience version being 9.0 means anything at all. This is the first post I've read on this version.

In this case, the root thread linked is valid, but G930TUVSACSG1 is U10 and the engboot provided is U9. I happen to also be using SG1 (I should've checked XDA before updating, silly me).
I happen to have the U10 engineering ROM, but none of the tools to modify it like all the previous variants.

Hey, I did receive another S7 (friends give me old phones because they know I love geeking out) and rooted successfully, so I appreciate the info. Secondly, I noticed a new eng bootloader was uploaded to AFH a few weeks ago, the one we used was rev8, this one being rev10, so I'm going to go ahead and start fresh to see if its any improvement. Yea, I had rooted with his first few iterations of that thread, which obviously was iffy on whether it was worth having root due to overheating, battery drain, etc etc. The post you mentioned was me wanting to tinker with an extra phone that had been updated beyond what was considered exploitable. And while it's only day 2-3, and not my 'daily driver', I must say, it seems to be considerably more responsive and stable thus far, actually haven't noticed much in terms of drain, lag, or heat like before, so I can definitely recommend it. Obviously, results may very, but following procedure, I flashed stock beforehand, then rooted using instructions to a T, only swapping out the eng boot. Just had a response on the root thread stating he successfully rooted his s7 edge from the latest update (by renaming the eng boot, but honestly, an unnecessary step).
Feel free to let me know how it goes (if you try it out), and good luck! :highfive::good:

I feel ya, it becomes a chore at times, but just to update, it's been running smooth as silk for me, again, not my daily driver, but using it frequently enough that I can verify that this has been the smoothest running eng boot setup I've had (and I've had them all). I'm not usually very lucky in that regard, even with the technical know-how to optimize it to it's maximum potential, I'm fairly pleased with it. I dare say it's been comparable to running a standard oem root environment, but I'm hesitant because I'm sure thats when it'll turn around and bite me in the ass lol.
