heres what i think you should check before connecting to active sync..
1. are you using vista or xp? < coz i use xp, if you use xp then heres my setting> < attached >
2. check your USB cradle or cable, try attaching the cable/cradle at the back ports of your CPU..
3. check your cable/cradle too if its working...
4.You can use a USB cable or serial cable to connect your device to your PC. Always use the cable or cradle provided by your device's manufacturer to connect your device to your desktop computer.
Connect one end of the cable to the serial (COM) port or USB port on your desktop computer.
Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device. ActiveSync connects automatically to your device.
Important Note For additional security, disable network bridging on the PC (specifically, bridging to a Remote NDIS adapter) before connecting to the PC to pass though to the Internet or a network. For more information on network bridging, see Windows Help on the PC.
Note If you are using a serial cable, the COM port you used during installation of ActiveSync must be available (not in use) for ActiveSync to connect to your device. If you have freed the COM port for other uses, on the File menu, click Connection Settings, then click Connect. ActiveSync will free the COM port and connect to your device.

I am working on Windows 7 Enterprise and am doing XP virtual machine.
When i connect the device with USB enabled in ActiveSync, the device can be selected in the virtual XP USB dropdown menu. When it is off, I cannot get it to show up so that I can use MTTY to flash. Was wondering if others have experienced this or something similar? or maybe some big brains had some ideas?

My HP laptop does not recognize My HP laptop with Windows XP service pack 3 does not recognize my Samsung Transform at all when I connect them via usb. I have downloaded and installed drivers from the Samsung website, I have installed PDAnet, I have tried it with usb debugging enabled and disabled. I cannot get my computer to even recognize that anything has been plugged in. The only close explanation I have found is that on desktop computers it needs to be plugged into the back usb ports instead of the front ones. Well my laptop only has 1 usb port and it is on the side. So what am I supposed to do?

here is the situation in detail
when I connect Android phone with USB cable to PC
and Settings > Developer options > USB debugging is enabled
the dialer comes up on its own and dials 922,822,22 (about 6 of those every 15 to 30 minutes)
if I disconnect the USB cable or disable the USB debugging or connect to a different PC
this does not happen anymore
so I figured its a PC malfunction (virus probably) that affects android but the USB debugging has to be enabled in order to access the phone fully
on this particular PC (windows 8.1) I have connected many android helper apps (explorers etc) and I suspect one of them had virus
I will post back if I find anything more solid but please tell me how to debug such a situation
is there any application that will log all the application from PC that connect and use the dialer on the android
or any android app that will do this ?
