HI, I have a Samsung Vibrant, everything in my phone seems to be working great except for the GPS. when I was on Android 2.1, the GPS seems to be working fine, but after the upgrade to Android 2.2, GPS really had not been working well. what I mean by it is if I did a factory reset, GPS will come back to life and it works for about a week. it's been happening 3 or 4 times already, which means I did a master reset 3 or 4 times. after about a week later, the GPS goes dead. it can not find the satellites. when I start the navigation, it can plot the route with 3G, but as I am driving, there are no movement, because it can not detect any satellites. I can't be master resetting it all the time, it's a pain just to load all my stuff back. I call T-mobile support and all they can tell me is to Master reset it again. since I did not get the phone directly from T-mobile, it is not cover under the exchange policy. . Can someone help me? thanks. I am intended to call samsung to see if they have a repair policy on these because this phone is less than one years old.
OK FIRSTLY if your phone is rooted then there is simply nothing to worry becoz the problem is in ur rom.. it happens due to system file corruption.. installing custom kernels not provided in the rom causes this problems... solution is just use another rom instead of this one..
ON THE OTHER HAND IF ur phone is not rooted and u didnt understand a thing above then probably u r using stock rom.. then the only problem that have occured is that the update package from where u updated your phone is corrupted!!
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH UR PHONE HARDWARE COZ IT CAN RUN GPS, ATLEAST FOR ONCE..!!
so what u do is go back to 2.1 and wait for sometime for the update.. only way to do this is to download original 2.1 firmware from manufacturer's site (its troublesome!!!)
if u r unable to perform this on your own then just send ur phone for servicing to samsung.. u gotta spend money dude!! sorry!!

Hi guys two questions..... im a newbie so forgive if I don't understand ur xda forum lingo..... newho.....
1. my battery meter show 100% at all times.... when its fully charged and when its been used all day... and then eventually wen it drains out...it jus dies out... but still at 100%.... how can I correct this? I have not installed any battery meter applications.
2. I do not get any sound notification if I have an incoming call while on a call, so when I hang up... I just see a missed call..... :-S please help.

.....well it was fine in the begining, wen i bought it.....cuz i had left the phone charger at work... n it was over the weekend n was charging my phone off of the USB cable which i got along with me home..... but then wen i charged it for the first time all night with the wall charger.... its been stuck at damn 100%.. guess i charged it too much... n fried the sucker! lol... newho.... well ive installed 3rd party application now... ive actually got spb mobile shell... but still shows 100% everywhere..... ive tried hard reset.... tried draining the batt. completely and recharging it again... but nuffin works... took it to the LG service shop today.... damn idiot hadn't ever seen a LG windows phone... n kept pressing the camera button to wake the phone.... had to smack him in the head n told him to call someone who knows bout this phone... so yaaa he sed would have to check the software n ****.... im like do me a favor n get a spare battery lets have it checked with the spare batt. first and then we'll move onto checking the application... so waiting for 2-3 day suntil they get a spare batt. and then i guess will move on from there..... but yaaa another question still stand.....

i hope u have smacked him good and also some sense into those ppl in those lame service centre. i kinda had the similar problem when i took ma laptop for checkup. those ppl didnt know how to move in computer management until i showed them and demanded a qualified personal.
anyways gettin back on topic. i think u may have charged it too well pal. i hope those service centre ppl remain as idiots to give u a replacement for ur battery or whichever in need. hehehe lets hope so.

I have the same problem too. At beginning, it was the problem that I can't charge the battery to 100%, only 99%, so I brought it back to shop and ask for replace battery. After few days, I got it and now it stuck at 100% now. and all of sudden, it will turn off by itself. Guess run out of battery. Want to flash a new rom , but I am afraid it will lose warranty if I need send it back to LG

last night I flashed my vox about 8 times with diferent roms, on some the camera buton didn't even apeard
after that i updated the radio and gues what the camera started again to work properly, I made pictures and i was happy
BUT now the camera gived me the same f..g error, I updated the radio again, it works, but its kind of working with 2 frames per second

radio has nothing to do with the camera. nothing!
this is a hardware fault which is giving you intermittent problems.
you should flash back to the original htc rom and give it to htc for servicing.
I thought of that, the thing is the camera comes back to life only if I update/change/reinstal the radio , if I flash the rom the camera doesn't come back to life
the problem is that I can't find the original romanian/eastern europe rom
upgraded to the arab radio, camera works beter than ever

tehnikal detail: before everithing started to go crazy on my phone I instaled smart toolkit RC9, and not only the camera started to go mad but al the software kind of went nuts, some aplications didn't want to start from the first "click", or dint start at all, had to reboot lots of times
could smart toolkit f..k something in the firmware or something?
yeah smarttoolkit does haev many such issues but I am not sure if that could affect the camera.
best way to know is - remove smart toolkit and use for a few days.
if it is the problem then you can just dump smart toolkit, otherwise you better get it serviced from htc before your warranty expires.

yesterday I reinstaled the radio about 5 times, at the moment the camera is working
I know you said the radio has nothing to do with the camera but the thing is that only after reinstaling the radio the camera comes back to life, can't explain
the problem is that the guys from the warranty here are kind of idiots and will probably say that I'm to blame for the problem after keeping my phone in service for one month

I have the same problem. I sent my phone to service. It's not a hardware problem. It;s software because when my phone came back from service the camera it's working and the man from service he told me only reinstal software. When i install olix hard spl 2.2 the camera crush again. I thing the problem is fromm bootoader or jumpspl that install before the phone reboot. If someone have an idee pls inform us. I am facing a serious problem with calls as many incoming calls are not being notified on the phone.. though the caller says that he hears the call ringing..
This way i'm losing many calls..
There is a Thread in the forum about this problem but nobody came up with a good solution..
They said in that Thread that only thing that might work may be radio version change..
Now my questions-
1. Does anyone have a better solution to the call drop problem?
2. I am using the original ROM that came with the phone.. so can i change radio without affecting the original ROM.. will i lose my warranty?
3. Where can i get the latest radio?
4. Whats the procedure to change it?

lots of the radio roms can be found on xda ftp
you wont loose any data (but be sure your phone is fully charged!)

So you are the guy who has shown us the way for surfing via Airtel NOP. Thanks for that. And using UCWEB 6.3 java browser may allow you to remove NOP download limitation.
Now about your query. I think there is nothing regarding radio ver for India. I think the latest ver is 4.1.13.60 which I am using at present. By default my VOX came with previous ver 4.1.13.54. I have also tried the 4.1.13.47. All three are good and I could not notice any significant difference amongst them. All are available for download _ see wiki.
Reagarding flashing - the process is same as flashing OS ROMS and it shouldnot affect your installed apps - but then keeping a backup is always good. It will need unlocking your phone and also doing USPL which will void the warranty. But I dont think thats a problem. If anything goes wromg reflashing with shipped ROM should solve the problem before taking it to service centre.
One more thing when there is a question of warranty why not flash with original shipped ROM - I think it will not require unlocking and doing USPL. In the process your phone may also get rectified.

hi there. i had a similar problem. what software and third party programs r u running? sometimes when the base memory dips below say 8 mb, this can happen bcos a program called connmgr.exe gets disabled. so what happens is, the call is completed, but u cant either pick up the phone while ringing,. at best it shows up as a missed call notification. i dont think this is an issue with ur radio at all. my advice is, shut down most running programs. use a hibernate function that is available on software such as smart toolkit ( or sk tools lite ). this should solve ur problem. if not, pm me with a list of whatever 3rd party software u have.
Have you tried hard reset? A lot of times, some or the other intalled application causes problems, a hard reset cleans up such mess, but cleans up all your data and app from the phone memory as well .
what is ur radio version by the way? mines a pretty old one, and works perfectly ok. as addicted2xda says, try a hard reset if u have no other choice. im convincedthat it is an issue f free memory only. happened to me lots of times...have changed my rom now to fireburned's lite rom. seems to be pretty good so far!

DUMPED the VOX till the time I am on Airtel Pre Paid and bought a Samsung......
Neither Airtel nor HTC Service Center has any solution to the problem..... Though HTC Service Center guys are dumbest ass**** you will ever find....
This problem was raised by me ages back in this forum and modaco.... was suggested some solutions but nothing works......
the choice was either continue to loose business or change the Handset..... I chose the latter....

hey i was on airtel prepaid in madras, had no problems whatsoever. the great bsnl gave me hell earlier. but i had another handset then. dont be in a hurry to dump ur phone....just try it out. i dont know abt the signal quality in delhi though. on roaming it was pretty ok to me
else change over to postpaid. seems to make quite a difference. they do have a few good schemes. the postpaid scheme is supposed to come with a 64 k sim card which is faster and seems to have better signal reception. maybe that'll solve ur problem.

I was never in hurry to dump the phone as I have been a HTC user thru'out....starting with SPV aka Canary...and so on....
I even changed the SIM to 64K ...
Tried every conceivable solution...... scanned the Phone for virus/ worms, tried all ROM furnished by the Learned here in the Forum.... Tried the Shipped WWE ROM with the original Radio version.....Tried all Radio versions including the Arabic Radio, Shipped Radio versions....
but the result was the same...
as for the signal quality..... am at same office and same factory as I was when I was using Canary, or other HTC phones and now Samsung.... so wudnt blame signal strength or location for the issue...
again.... if you find a solution lemme know too as the VOX is being used as her play mobile by my 7 yr old daughter at the moment.

BTW... try the Bluetooth Registry patch from HTC site and see if it helps your cause...because HTC claims that if you are using Bluetooth there are chances of Call drop. This is a suggestion from my side as I use Bluetooth Hands Free all the time and tried the Patch on my VOX but still the problem remained .... see if it helps ya out.

HMMM.....man, i pity ur fate! but did u try shutting down all running programs? again, what third party stuff did u have running? as i said earlier, a program called connmgr.exe shuts down or malfunctions at memory levels <8mb. send me a list of what third party stuff u had. maybe theres something in that!
mines very old radio and rom. never had this problem, and in madras the signal per se anywhere is lousy. so maybe it isnt an issue with the firmware at all. what rom were u using last? and wht radio version?

The Signal strength shown on the phone has NO Issues whatsoever....
No other software running on the device other than the ones started by the frau's ROM.... was aware of the fact that some third party softwares could create issues so never bothered loading them unless got the phone working in stable mode for a week or so......

Sounds like a hardware issue to me, if the hard reset didn't fix it. I'd just take it in for service (everyone else is going to tell you to flash Energy Rom, lol). That is, take it in for service if you've never flashed it with custom firmware.

3 days ago I dropped my phone, it survived thanks to the official rubbery case, it just rebooted by itself and nothing more, not event a scratch.
Yesterday, I've noticed Google Maps having a hard time to locate me, I tried several things, reboot, another gps app, even the app GPS Test but I can't get a single GPS signal, I think my gps may have died from the drop but I'm still unsure.
I'd like to test it through the hardware test you can usually access with the emui secret code but I can't find a working one on EMUI 5, is there any secret code for hardware test in EMUI 5 ? What can I try ?

Similar problem but without dropping the phone...
After about two months of owning the phone I just realized that the GPS doesn´t work at all.
It went unnoticed because I always use wifi+mobile data option that is sufficient to locate me in Google maps. Only when I needed real navigation I realized there is a problem.
It certainly is not caused by mechanical damage because the phone is masked from the day 1 and had never been dropped.
I did a factory reset with no success (i am on emui5, b360). Applications for testing GPS signal can not locate any satellite, let alone get a fix on. It looks as if the GPS is completely dead.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Or some advice what to do before I take it to service center...
Hi, i bought a FRD-L04 in USA in january, ive the same issue. The first month it was working just fine, then i didnt use the gps for days and the OTA comes. And now i realice that the gps isnt working the way u are saying. the phone has not a single drop, not a single scratch, so i think its a software problem.... i was thinking in a downgrade to marshmallow to see if the problem is in the ota

Mine is FRD-L09.
I cant really tell whether the problem appeared with upgrading to EMUI5 because I upgraded the same day I bought it (and never used GPS-only location service anyway).
If you try downgrading to MM and it solves the problem, please report back.
Just to let you know, after a factory reset the GPS was still dead.
I have sent it to the service center, I don't know what they did to the phone but the GPS is working again.

It was the official service center for Huawei/Honor phones in France, seems different in each countries
