Bittersweet Day - G Tablet General

Thanks to all the devs that put their time and effort in making the G Tablet something worth having. Out of all the roms I still thought Vegan was the cat's meow. That being said I have since picked up a wi-fi Xoom. I am hoping from there to go to one of the new Galaxy Tabs this summer. I hope to see some cool stuff from the devs over in the Xoom threads. You guys never cease to amaze me.

Hi, being a newcomer I don't know you but wish you luck and lots of fun with your xoom. Love your nym, btw. Trekkie from way back

Gtab Dev Appreciation Thread

I know everyone keeps saying thanks for all you hard work, but I do not think we can thank you enough.
I will not list all of the Gtab Dev's, you know who you all are.
I just wanted to start this thread for us that have been here from the beginning of the gtab and it's place here on XDA From one huge thread to it's own home.
This will also give those new user's an idea of who here help make this device a better device and who Viewsonic really needs to thank for current and future sales.
Everyone, please keep the thread on track (this is not a place for questions and answers and discussions of apps, roms and such)
just say "THANKS"
Twelve ounce solute to all XDA devs
Thanks!!!

GRACIAS!!
Thanks Roebeet and others!
I can truly say this thing would be back without the dev's hard work. Thanks !
I did return one early on...Then kept reading the posts and went back and bought another one.
Added tnt 2.2 "liked it alot"
But the VEGAn build beta2 has passed them all by. This thing is so nice now.
iPhone ipad what are those Consumer devices... they seem like old crippled OS's from the past. Remember WM5 ??? No I forgot the minute I went to Treo. Remember Treo..no I forgot the minute I went to iPhone 1st gen. Now...
Remember iPhone 4/3gs no I forgot the minute I got a Android Samsung Captivate. Now the circle is complete with the Viper Tablet( G tablet with VEGAN beta xx)!
Obrigado !
Oh with out a doubt!! Us and Viewsonic owes these guys ...I was so disappointed when I first got my g tab home and saw how slow it was. I actually boxed it back up and was going to return it the following day. I stumbled on this site and stayed up all night tweaking my new favorite toy.
Big thank you. I bought one the first day but took it back. I just bought another one after seeing the great options given us by the great cooks here!
Wowsher
This has been one of the most active and resourceful forums I've been a part of. Many many thanks to Roebeet and the other developers for their tireless contributions to the forum and for making the Viewsonic G Tablet a wonderful choice.
Thank you! I would have returned this device had I not stumbled across this great site!
You have made an android noob look great! I love my device now and Thank all the Developers and users out there!
I'm with you guys I never would've bought this device if it wasn't for the days of reading threads on xda and seeing the support itbwas getting. I knew it couldn't be bad if it was getting so much love from the devs. THANK YOU!!! For making putting the tegra 2 to good use
Thanks!
very, very much appreciated!
Its been fun to watch all the collaboration and hard work.
Thanks!!
All the hard work is very appreciated here.
Its like the old 6 million doller man TV show in the 70's: We can rebuild it... better, stronger, faster. Indeed they did.
Thank you ALL, for all of your hard work. Without you, the G-tab would be dead.
THANKS
thanks I almost returned it. I switch roms about 3 to 4 days from roebeet to CM6 to TNT lite
Much respect to the devs.
My turn!
Rothnic, many thanks for your initial zPad roms, your subsequent dealings with their devs to bridge the gap, and your amazing work with the VEGAn build.
GoJimi, your work on the VEGAn is nothing short of amazing and we wouldn't even have a build without you. I was ready to give up on it before you got alpha 1 working.
Bekit. Clockworkmod. I think we all know how important that tool is in our build work. And your nvflash work has made it possible to restore an otherwise bricked device. I can't thank you enough for that.
Proengin. You've been the middle man between myself and Modaco / Malata, and your info has helped us immensely with our builds.
To everyone who I've mentioned in my build posts (there's a lot of you out there). Every tip and fix you've helped with has made our devices better.
And to the community here -- your testing and feedback have helped enormously to make a mediocre device great. There are numerous things you've suggested that I would have never even thought of, and now I get to reap the benefits of, on my own device!
THANKS!!!
Roebeet, I can't that you enough! I've been following your mods since I found myself frustrated with my first Eken and I came across your WPDN mods on slatedroid which prompted me to go out and get one of those and then when you got a gTab I jumped on that bandwagon too and again have you to thank for a device that works much better than it did out of the box. Thanks again to you and anyone else who has contributed to your efforts. If our paths ever cross I look forward to buying you a drink.
Another person of great help to this newbie is Wasserkapf. He has been most patient, and kind to me as I embark on my journey with the G Tablet. Thanks!

I'm thrilled!

Hi All,
Just a note to say Thanks A Million!
The hard work of the developers have turned a nice piece of hardware into pleasant and fun tablet.
I do hope that you continue your excellent work, and that Viewsonic gets their act together. Or maybe they just release hardware and let the community do with it what they will.
Thanks again!
Agreed.
This would be a crap device if it weren't for the developers here. Upon my initial power up I got at least 15 force close messages and couldn't even connect to WiFi to perform a system update. Two hours later, thanks to the tools/info available via this forum I was happily running a custom ROM and downloading apps from the marketplace.
Gotta agree. The difference between owning a brick and owning a great machine is XDA developers and this forum. Is there another example of a new piece of hardware being rescued from Glitch Oblivion like the G-Tablet?
Thanks again!
I just ordered my G Tab today! By week's end I should be ready to do some hacking. I have done it plenty of times on my Droid so I'm pretty sure it will be a breeze with this device. Thanks devs!
I just got around to turning mine on this weekend, and I agree. I can see why so many people returned this thing. Out of the box, I would have. Thank goodness, I knew about xda-developers from when I got my Android phone.
I spent a little over an hour, and while there are still things I want to do, and still little quirks here and there, I am really enjoying this device (Vegan ROM), and am excited to play with it some more.
Thanks for everyone here for making this thing worth the money (especially now that I see the cost of the Xoom!)
I thought my Gtab was cool from the start 0_o but yeah the reason why I bought it was XDA I read that it was easily rooted . Plus look at the Xoom 800 bucks.. Really?
Have to second that!
My experience has been the same. Bought my G at the end of November after seeing it at Staples. The stock UI really was uninspiring, but in my experience with it, it was rock steady. I stayed stock until this weekend when I flashed TntLite 4.2.2 - man, what a difference that made! The G changed from bland and mildly disappointing to a quick and flexible piece of equipment.
My thanks to the devs for their work. I've lurked here for about two months attempting to pick up on installation tips and general impressions of the different ROMs. I'd say it has paid off because my install went easily; I was able to handle the google framework force closes after a quick search through the forum.
After a time with Tnt, I'll likely give Vegan a go!
Thanks again to all who develop, mod, and share their experiences here.
Thanks echoed and put my order in today...
Just wanted to say thanks (in advance) for all the great support the developers have given the community. I've been ogling tablets for a while now, looking for a replacement for my Archos 5 IT (which I still love and will still be giving gym treadmill duty). Really looking forward to more screen real estate!
This forum is what led me to put my order in today...without it, I'd probably have missed out on a sleeper hit.
Will likely be acquiring a dock shortly as well...just for the complete solution.
Everyone here, especially the developers, have basically helped revive the G-Tablet and make it a sexy beast! Keep on modding guys!
Many Props to the DEVS!
Yeah, the only reason I bought my GTAB was because a custom ROM already existed so could swap out the crappy stock TNT with VEGAn.
I've tried out all the roms available for this device and decided VEGAn would be my daily driver.
BIG THANKS TO:
GOJIMI, BEKIT, SCEPTERR, BITTRIX, ROTHNIC and ROEBEET for the Awesome sauce!
You guys RUMBA ROCK!!

Great Tab

I'm not quite sure of the path of let me hear but this tablet works great. I have soft bricked I've had magic mismatch. And many times I've sat here wondering why I wasted 300 dollars on a useless, do nothing, piece of hammered whale crap. Needless to say I do not feel like that anymore. and it is all thanks to two developers... Robeet and Clemsin. 3 weeks ago when I first got this thing, All I could think of was Trying to get this g tab to do everything I wanted at supersonic speed. And I want it all now! I didn't wanna waste a lot of time so I thought why not just start at the top, and the top to me seem to be honeycomb 3.0. And since honeycomb was not available to us I thought the next best thing would be bottle of smoke. What a mistake that was! I didn't think I can make my crappy paper weight any worse, but now I felt like I had a crappy paper weight and no paper! I knew this not be the end because there's all kinds of people online enjoying their g tabs. I then thought to myself, I'm at xda forum. The brightest minds in the business are here, I'll just ask a question and my problems will be solved. So I posted my question Just knowing that I'll get help, And just like magic poof there was a reply. The devs username was something like ( goodintentions), and with me he had none. I thought an all together devastating online experience. But here I am a few days later, having the most incredible time, being able to even do more than I could with my laptop. I don't even have to touch my g tab anymore, I just speak and there I am, watching, listening, reading, and yes, even posting this!! So burn it into your brain. ( read everything) !! And most important donate to the developers because they don't get paid to help you, but if you think about it they already have. And I'm living proof with a great g tab.
Glad to hear you've had a change of heart after that "bos=bfd" kerfuffle.
what rom are you using now just wondering because i am ready to try something different.im on vegan tab rc1 currently
First of all, I'm the guy that created gtab for dummies website (look in my signature). There's a reason why people like myself recommend people AGAINST using the current honeycomb ports. For now, they are for testers only.
Secondly, you really should check out my website. The info there are not as cluttered.

I'll Miss You Guys!!

Hey guys! I just wanted you all to know that I have finally moved away from the Thunderbolt.
I wish you all the best of luck with the development! Thank you to all of the developers who still carry on development for the device. Without you guys, I would have left the bolt over a year ago... but you guys kept it cool and worth staying with.
Also thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way.
I recently moved and the Thunderbolt no longer maintains even WiFi for some reason... so I was forced to move away from it.
Again, thank you all for everything!
Have fun with your new device.

Take care bud, was always a pleasure having you around!
Enjoy your new toy. :good:
See you around
Sad to see you go bud, was fun having you around, and a few of your posts really cracked me up (see dickmode). Enjoy your new device!
Haha! Yeah, we had some good times on here for sure!
Thanks for all the memories and help from all of you!
I'll still pop in every now and then I'm sure. Hope to cross roads again with you guys later on!
Take care everyone!
Well, I also left the ranks. My family has been pressuring me to get them their first smartphones, and by the time we were through at the cell phone store, I had one too. While I really was hoping to get the next great phone (eg, a Nexus 4x with replaceable battery, SD card, and LTE), we all went with what I think is still the best combination of size, speed, and features (replaceable battery, memory) while also having a community for future, um, er, rooting fun. The Samsung Galaxy SIII. I was tempted by the Note 2 but the thing is just too big; the S3 almost seemed too big, but it is also nice and thin.
Anyway, I will miss the Thunderbolt. I was really fortunate with my ROM choices (SOAB, Thundershed, and Santod's ICS Eternity). SOAB was a good entry to rooting, Tshed was bulletproof, and Eternity was fast, smooth and awesome in features and performance. But most of all I will miss the awesome developers who contributed to their talents and time to make the Thunderbolt better that what HTC and Verizon could ever do. And the great community here and on other bulletin boards. People like QuickDraw, who has always been quick with the advice or support.
I have some Thunderbolt accessories free for the asking. A Rezound battery. A slightly broken Platinum holster case in black (one small piece of the case broke off but it doesn't seem to effect the use at all and you wouldn't even see it if you didn't look) and a virtually unused PowerSkin case. Let me know if you want em and I will ship them to you. At some point I may even give up the Thunderbolt itself.
Thanks again everyone...

Ooh! Which device are you on now? I hope you'll come visit us Bolters every so often. Perhaps we should make an Off Topic Bolt thread hahaha. Anyway, I hope it works out for you! I'm still new to Xda, but I'll miss you! Hahaha

Thank you note :)

Hey yall
idk where to post this, i am just so happy I had to say it
Thank you all so much, you xda devs and community are the best!!!!!!!!!!!! :cyclops:
I have just today, with the help of this forum, updated my wife's Asus TF101 from jellybean to katkiss and it is amazing.
That thing is so frigging fast all of the sudden I am beyond happy lol its really the bomb!!!
It had been going on my nerves so much that it was laggy and slow, I have been apple user for a long time and I had my first
iphone jailbroken which gave me really good times with the little 32GB 3gs and ever since I am very fond of jb/rooting, so I thought
why not try and get this transformer updated. I would have never gotten it done without this forum and I just want to say thanks guys!
You are awesome! The tablet runs as fast as it never has its really fun to fool with it now and its all due to your hard work!
I love your mission! Keep it up you are making people very happy where they had been frustrated before and its just one of
the best things to do in the world. Web 2.0 as written in the book. Cognitive surplus will save the world one day!
Thanks again, i will spread the vibe with your words whenever I can! PROMISE
In deep appreciation, andré
