[Q] Titanium backup problems - Captivate General

I successfully flashed serendipity 6.3 to my phone. Before I did i backed up all apps and data with titanium backup and copied that folder to my computer desktop in case i needed it later. So i downloaded titanium backup from the market again and it didnt have any of my files. So I copied the folder from my desktop to my phone and it still doesnt have my apps so I can't restore them. Am i doing something wrong?

Make sure usb debugging is enabled, make sure busy box is installed, make sure titanium folder is on root of sd

unless you have rebooted, you need to hit the menu button while in titanium backup, click more, and click RELOAD APPLICATION

Titanium Restore to a Different Phone

I backed up all of my app's + system data using Titanium and i copied the TitaniumBackup folder to my computer, for safe keeping. Which i am glad i did, i dropped my phone and now i have a new phone and i would like to reinstall everything....is this possible? if so how? I have titanium reinstalled, and i thought i could just copy over the new backup folder...but it isnt working
EDIT:
I just needed to restart the phone. Copying the backup folder over the new one worked.

Titanium Backup restore

Well I thought this would be straight forward but apparently I am missing something. I just rooted/installed GummyCharged 1.9.1 and I put Titanium Backup on the phone. I then copied my Titanium backup folder from my old phone (which was backed up on my PC) and thought I could just restore the apps, but apparently that is not the case. It is not seeing any of the apps.
What am I doing wrong? All the files appear in File Manager, but nothing is showing up in TiBu. Any ideas?
To backup just go into TB and the backup/restore tab, hit the menu button and click Batch, then backup all your apps/system data. To restore do the same thing but from the Batch menu click restore, it worked fine for me and I just switched ROMs today.

I know how to use it, I used it all of the time on my Fascinate. My problem right now is that I just copied the contents of what was in my TiBu folder on my Fascinate's SD card to the Charge's SD card and when I try and do the Batch Restore, it shows 0 apps to restore.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working. It was either the reboot that fixed it or the fact that I had to check USB debugging. So one of those fixed it.
Thanks!
Probably USB debugging, TB always tells me to enable it but i never do. Glad you got it to work

What exactly are you trying to backup?
If you already have a Titanium Backup, copy that folder to your PC
Also, SMS Backup and Restore, Call Log Backup and Restore and APN Backup and Restore to backup those items, then copy the folders to the computer from your phone.
We need a little more info to give you a good answer but that should help

To backup your phone, complete Andorid OS, system files, apps and all.....you need a nandroid backup. This you would acheive with Clockworkmod Recovery. This a complete 1:1 backup that will be an exact replica of your phone. Everything........you then copy the backup folder to your computer.
Now if you want a backup like syncing your files, music, pics and folders, you need Kies, which is the samsung software for this. HOWEVER, it may or may not backup your SYSTEM files and settings......I have not used Kies in a while, so dont know what it does anymore
And finally, you can use a file manager like Astro File Manager, Root Explorer and then copy all files to your external SD card.
Have fun !!
And u say I'm in every thread? I leave for a few hours and u handle all the questions lol, what I'm I supposed to do now?

What he said... ^^^^.... with one exception. .. a Nandroid backup does NOT backup the modem partitions (mmcblk0p17 and mmcblk0p13).

I agree with Uncle Irish, Titanium Backup will do all that for you.
To sync to a windows pc, just get my phone explorer from Google play.

EDIT: MyPhoneExplorer lets you sync to Outlook, Thunderbird, and several other apps on your PC. You'll need to download the PC version, too. I use this to back up my contacts and calendar to Outlook.
The other posts here have great advice for backing up your phone's files. ROM Toolbox is a great app that does a lot of what you want on a rooted phone. It can do app backups just like Titanium Backup (I actually like RTB better than TiBu). I also back up calendar and contacts to google for easy syncing after a wipe.

Titanium Backup -- unable to restore, folder empty

I flashed a new ROM yesterday. I swear I backed up my apps and data with Titanium backup (onto my SD card) but when I tried to restore apps, they are no where to be found. Per instructions, I wiped cache and davlik folder after I flashed my new ROM.
Here is what I have done so far: Titanium backup > menu> preferences> backup folder location > /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup . When I click detect, it says "no backup location found".
I used ROM manager to backup ROM before flashing the new ROM, not sure if this also backs up the apps and ther data that I had on the phone. This will really suck if I lost everything as I have so many documents on the phone.
I am in desperate need for help. Any help will be appreciated.
Sorry for the stupid question... Did you tick the selection to search whole device?

Restore files
You should choose to restore the contents of, but can be restored some programs back is can't use. But not as you say nothing at all, you must have made a mistake, software wouldn't, at the same time with titanium backup directory in the memory card, you have to go to the next, backup the files if you have that can restore normal

Titanium Backup Issue

OK so I am quite new to the rooting and restoring side of titanium backup. I have installed a new ROM and re-downloaded TB. When I go in to the restore part of TB nothing showed up for back ups. If I go into my file explorer I can see the TB folder and all of the .zip files for each app. I have put the folder on my SD and on my Internal memory and still nothing showes up to restore. PLEASE PLEASE HELP I can not find anything on my issue and don't know where to go from here. Thanks in advance!

I expect you just need to go into TB's settings/preferences and set the folder to where your backups are.
