Does Serendipity really not have an 'enter' key? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

This should be in developers but it won't let me post there.
Just tried to send a text with my new ROM and was horrified that there's no enter key.
It's also not letting me see any contacts, when I 'create new message' and select the 'to' box I am given no options, but my SIM card is definitely there, being read, and full of phone numbers.

There is no enter key on the swype version on serendipity. And for your contacts on the aosp mms app you have to type in the name our number in the very top box.

trying to switch back to samsung keypad, but neither it nor the gingerbread has an enter :/
is there one that does?
also that's terribly lame about the contacts, is there no way to go back to the rolodex system

You'd have to swap out the aosp contacts app for the samsung contacts app.

Why do you need a enter key? Can't you just use the "Send" button?

To add a pic you have to add yourself to your phonebook. The voice mail number is your phone number. Just add it in the blank area. These are common things with CM based roms

Ok an dumb question but you did add a pic to it right? To be honest I am not sure other then that as I dont use CM based roms due to signal needs
It never crossed my mind to want to see my own pic on texts...lol but I just tried and it didn't work. I don't think you can on the included messenger. Maybe try gosms? (Its been a while since I've used gosms. You could always convince the person to use an app like gtalk, kakaotalk, or palringo for your messaging needs.
I got your 10 char right here
abso Bacon Mod
Due to security concerns I would advise handcent. Could be an issue with the messaging app and contact apparently intergeation.

I know I do the same thing. I have my pic set up but then I use a HTC based rom and it works fine as long as I add my pic in my phonebook.
You have to add your number in additional settings. Go to settings ->callsettings->scroll down to additional settings-> then enter your phone number

text all contacts

any easy way to text all my contacts at the same time? (trying to notify them of a cell number change).
thanks
btw, i have around 50-60 contacts
I've tried that before using many tricks or tools, but it always ended with some of the messages not delivered, kindda out of memory error or something like that. my advice is, split it up, says that you want to send to 100 contacts, send it to 20 first, so you have to do it 5 times
How about just tapping menu, compose, then on the recipient field type a comma after every contact and insert another contact...? Somewhat tedious but its just like an email. There is auto complete when typing in part of someones name

Question about NFC tags.

I have the Sprint Siii, but I'm hoping it's the same for you guys, nobody can help me out on my forums.
I want to send a text when I swipe an NFC tag.
When I use the stock Samsung NFC app, the most it does it fill out the message and the "to" fields. I have to send it manually though.
I downloaded NFC Task Launcher and both plugins for it.
Most I can get it to do is fill out the fields, but I have to manually send it. I tried regular message and the uri one. Both do the same thing, but don't send.
Anyone get it to work at all?

I'm digging through the nfc task launcher app piece by piece.
The reason I couldn't get the plugin to work to autosend the text message before was because I used the wrong tag command.
I was using the sms option under the menu:
New uri
...when I should have been using the option in:
New task
...then:
Phone
...then the sms message option.
So, if we want to pre-populate a message but still be prompted to send or not, then "new uri" is the category to choose from.
If you download the text message plugin, then you can just auto send the message without further interaction then simply tapping the tag using the "new task" category and sms message in the "phone" subcategory.
I also downloaded the phone autodial plugin, and set a tag to call my lady - now calling her while travelling is a simple tap away.

I was able to get it to work with NFC Task Launcher and the plug-in, IIRC. I don't think I saw a copy of the message, in my messaging app, but my wife got them. I only tried it a few times, I just prefer to hit the send button myself.

I know it can be done with tasker, and i know NFC task launcher can initiate Tasker tasks...
There was an update on the sms plugin today. It now works for me and puts the message in your sent message. Thanks for the help

Use NFC Smart Q - in my opinion the best NFC App on the Market and FREE! You can set up a text message (Text "On my way home") to specific contact (Your spouse) and program it to a tag. Then when you tap the tag, it will automatically send that message. You do not have to hit anything - it just does it in the background. Works awesome! Link to app on Google Play: NFC Smart Q
And if you need more tags - check out my store below.

Forwarding an SMS and Manual

Two questions really.
If I knew where to get a manual (can't find one anywhere) I'd not need to ask the first question:
OK, I've received an SMS which I want to forward to someone that isn't in my phonebook. I can hold-press the message and select 'forward', but instead of being able to put the number in to send it to, Hangouts pops up (which is the ****tiest text app I've ever seen, btw) and makes me select a contact. Because there is no contact for this number, I tried creating a new one (although I don't want a contact for this number) but when I put the number in, it won't let me save it; I've tried pressing enter but nothing happens. This is the single most frustrating thing I've found with KitKat so far.
In fact, I have another question:
Can anyone recommend a decent SMS app? Really, hangouts is truly awful.

Easily copy contact phone number?

Hey is there an easy/quick way just to copy a contacts phone number from the dialer or call history? It seems like I have to go to the contact, click edit, go to the phone number field, and copy it. Anyone know of a faster way than that? [Android 4.3]

I also had this problem but at least a year ago. It would be helpful if you post your device or rom.
If you have a Samsung then just click on the contact and long press the phone number then you get the options "delete" and "copy"
cheers

If you're using vanilla People app, as I think you do if you have SuperNexus, tap on a contact and in the overview long press on the phone number, a menu will pop up with the option to Copy it to the Clipboard.
