Good morning.
I wonder whether it is an Android problem, a number format problem, a language problem (Nexus S is my first Android device ; language French) : I can't get a click-and-dial fonction in email.
I frequently used that in Windows Mobile to call directly somebody, and it was very useful. The only way I found for now is CopyNDial app, which needs to first select the number line.
Any suggestion to activate this very useful click-and-dial fonction in email (as in Calendar for example) ?
Thanks
i know in SGS it has that function build in
but seems like stock Android on the SNS doesn't seem to have that option
I found a solution with a nice and free email client named MailDroid.
Most of phone numbers within mails are now clickable.
But I don't understand why those coming from some expeditors are still non clickable... Any idea ?

Dear Vijay,
Can we file two mobile nos for a single contact? assume that all other fields viz home1.2, Work1.2 etc are already occupied
hdubli - if all available number fields are full, then not easily. If you need that many telephone numbers, you could write a custom plugin or app that would store a string of telephone numbers in a text string with a seperator, eg:
+44 7870 XXX | +359 12345 | +69 546
etc. Then, save that text string in a relatively unused number or text field (eg Home Fax?) in Pocket Outlook, and have your custom plugin present an interface to choose which number from the string to dial/select, eg dial second number in the list. Your app would then parse out the second number from the list.
That would work and be relatively operating system consistent. But, it would have to be a custom written app.

Thanks for the reply,
Is it possible that I store the Phone nos with the sepertors as informed above and dial from contacts? You know any app else can u make such app...I am not good in coding as u are..
hdubli - I've never seen an app that can do it, and a custom plugin would have to be written to dial from contacts in this way.
I could possibly write it, but it would take time I don't have right now - do you really have that many phone numbers to store per contact?
If you've hit the limit (9 phone numbers per contact I think), try saving the contact twice, eg
Vijay (1) with 9 contact numbers
Vijay (2) with another 9 contact numbers = 18
It's not perfect, but it's easier for me

That's right...Just tell me can we add a custom field in the Outlook so that when we sync it adds that field in our device...
So this important 'FileAs' omission has been a problem for about 2.5 years, yet MS still haven't had the time to fix it? I am impressed
Yup, fileas is a pain in the ass, as with many of the problems with Windows Mobile and Smartphone: however, I guess we basically have to live with the problems. I lose count of how many bugs have never been fixed.
Oh, hdubli sorry for the slow response. As far as I know, we can't add custom Pocket Outlook fields.

It's so a shame that more 4 years have passed and there's no solution for this yet that I had to ressurrect this old, old thread.
Now in WM 6.1 there's still no default setting for 'File as' contacts. Plus I also have to complain about how WM phones display area codes.
It annoys me a lot because all these default settings seem to be made for U.S., but in most other places we choose to remember the first name and not the family name of our friends, and also 3-digit area codes don't apply.
This will fix them all at once... found it floating around
finally
works great!! (may need restart)
install
programs >> contact fix
set it as you like
done
BIG thanks (searched for a way to resolve this problem, weeks)

The |last name, first name| filing was probably used for business purposes. You would have many contacts that are not necessarily your friends and you would look them up by last name.
Would be nice to change it...
Hi all,
Is there any fix to the HTC messaging?
All my contacts numbers are in the form +xxx (xx) xxx-xxxx.
when i try to send sms it keep telling me invalid recipient, i found out that its only accept the connected numbers +xxxxxxxxxxxxx , well, I'll not change the format i use.
so is there any way to fix that in it or shall I'll look for a 3rd party application?
Thx in advance.
Hi, I had the same problem and I resolved it deleting the ( and ) characters from my numbers

HI! I had the same problem.
In German it wrote "Ungültig(e) Teilnehmer"
I use Outlook 2007 and I like the Phonenumbers as stored correctly by Outlook.
I used to store it this way +xx (xxx) xxx xx xx even on my Mobile so that it is in the correct order in Outlook2007
Now this doesn´t work any more by sending SMS.
So I searched for the reason... if I deleted the caracters ( and ) like chris it was possible to send the SMS ---But, i don´t like to change the Numbers that way because in Outlook2007 it´s wrong. And of course much time waste.
So I tested a while last night and now I solved it this way:
Check this out:
if you delete the space here +xx (xxx) xxx_xx_xx to +xx (xxx) xxxxxxx it will work!!!
it seems to be only too much caracters. ()are not the problem. So Outlook2007-format still works too.
I hope this works in your Mobile too. Let me know!
Have fun!
I have the same problem. I find that if I create the new SMS to the same contact from the contact's record instead of from the Sense UI Messaging tab, it sends fine.
So the problem for me is only with new messages created from the messaging tab, which is a bit ridiculous.
Hey Folks!
First post here, and i'm only consumer. That first off.
I woul like to know, if in theory, it would be possible to create an App capable of this. It would be great to:
Enter Gmail account through desktop browser, access contacts, click on a phonenumber, click "Call with mobile" and my Android Mobile starts dialing the Number and activates the built-in Handsfree for me.
Would such a thing be possible? I think regarding the chrome to phone push service, also such a thing could be possible?
Would this be makable by anyone or does this need deep integrated coding work, so it would only be manageable by Google Labs?
It is possible to write a program like this, and I think anybody can do it, the programmer only need access to the contacts, but it's impossible to add a button to the contacts without the help of google
Hello,
I am looking for a GPS-app that can send my actual position to a friend by sms. The receiving Phone should be able to show the distance and direction to the sended GPS-data without using internet.
I found lots of apps on the www that can send the position by SMS or email. But when I read the description or installed them on my phone I found out that none of them could read the incoming sms and show the direction and distance to the partner without using google maps or other internet-based maps. I also found some apps that can show me distance and direction to a GPS-position, but I found no way how to copy the data from the sms into the programs. Copying to the clipboard from the SMS worked, but how should I get them into the program without typing them on the keyboard, if there is no paste-function?
The SMS should only be invoked by the sending party as one single sms without repeating periodically, that means I don´t want a spy function that answers to a incoming sms with GPS-data without asking the owner of the phone. The software should run on "HTC Touch II" and "HTC Touch Pro II", both with Windows Mobile 6.5. Multilanguage (including German) would be great.
Sorry for asking on that website, but all programs I found missed at least one of my wishes. Who can help me?
Hy there,
I hope I posted where I should and if I didn't please tell me the correct section where I should do this. Also, I am not a developer, I do not have root on my phone. I do not want solutions that require changing XML files or anything. I am just asking about an app that I could find in the Play Store, or, maybe, and apk to download (this being the second option)
I have a problem with the messaging app since I left my HTC One S for the Nexus 5X in June 2016 and I did not find an app to replace that, not even on my current Oneplus 5T.
So, I have a contact in my phonebook saved with multiple numbers - work / mobile / home etc. and she texts SMS from either of the numbers (doesn't really matter because they are included in the carrier plan as unlimited). But my messaging app is sorting those SMS as different entries by phone number, and not by contact. So if we start a conversation in a chat window based on the home number, the answer may end up in a different chat windows (she has a dual sim phone so it depends on the settings on which is right now, and because the SMSs are "free", she tends to not look at which carrier is using, because, why would you if they are all free?), but this actually disrupts the logical flow of the conversation.
I know that a such app exists because I used it on HTC One S in 2012 and I was able to send SMS to which number I wanted to select (home / mobile / work of the same contact from the phonebook) and I had all the conversation in only one place, but after I changed on Nexus 5X and now on OnePlus 5T I can not find this feature in the installed app messenger (Google's or Oneplus's), neither on Google searches or specialized websites. I have tested some of the SMS apps, looked for settings, but all of them seem to show the SMSs based on the phone number, and not based on the contact entries.
Can someone suggest an app that could do that? Maybe I didn't search good enough.
P.S. The MMS option to send grouped messages is not an option because this means I will send the same SMS to multiple numbers, but those numbers are of the same person so there is no need to do that ...
Thank you very much for Your answer.
