[Q] How do I check what provider for what Rom - General Questions and Answers

Hi
As you can see I am new to this forum so I hope I am posting this in the correct place.
My question is I have read a few guides on how to flash my HTC HD2 what I havent seen mentioned is what provider you are with. I am on O2 in england the phone was on vodafone in england but has been unlocked. How do I know what Rom to use to get it to work on O2 in england or does the rom have no affect on that.
Just thought I better check with you Guy and Girls before I do anything.
Thanks for any help.

Nope, you are good. Your ROM will not affect your cell phone service.

Any ROM on Any Carrier?

Hi all,
I am new to flashing ROMs to my Tilt. I have seen ROMs that are labeled T-Mobile and Rogers Mobile that are compatible with Kaisers. I have AT&T for a service provider. If I flash a Rogers or T-Mobile ROM to my phone, will I still be able to use it on AT&T, or is it strictly just for those companies? I ask this because I think it would be cool to have AT&T service, but it reads Rogers or T-Mobile.
Thanks in advance,
ChaosPB
Sorry to do this to you but....
Gotta close the thread, this is a prime example of "asked & answered time & again".
Seriously if you don't know this then you shouldn't even be thinking of flashing a Rom to your phone. Trust me this comment is more kind than cruel.

Unlocking UK G1 (newbie)

Hi all,
Im due to get a G1 from a friend of mine and Im slightly confused/overwhelmed by the threads here on how to unlock the phone..
What is the best way to unlock the phone? Im assuming I cant call 611 as Im in the UK and the phone is a UK phone, or am I wrong?
Is the best approach to go to http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com ?? or is there a software way of doing it?
I know this is almost certainly posted here, but Im confused/blinded by all the other entries..
Thanks,
Angelo
i'm not too sure about who to call, but apparently t-mobile offer to unlock it for £15 which is better than the £17 offered by that site (i'd much prefer to trust t-mobile too )
you're best bet is to ring up t-mobile and speak to them about it. make up some **** about leaving the country or something, it will probably work
Many thanks
Many thanks, appreciate the clarity
you should be able to tell them you are going over seas and want to put a pre-paid sim in when you get there and for that you require the phone to be unlocked

[Q] Virgin Mobile Shipped RUU, Bell good enough?

**EDIT**
Okay so I asked these questions, and I feel like this should stay here in order to answer anyone who has the same questions as I did in the future.
Flashed the BM RUU, turns out this is the identical shipped rom, when I put in my Virgin SIM card, everything sort of aligns itself as Virgin content. Like I said, virgin is sort of related to Bell here in canada, they rent their network and such.... odd
So if you're on Virgin, it's legit to just flash the BM stock shipped RUU [BM = Bell Mobility].

Hi there, I looked around searching the web, xda, and other things trying to find this information but I could not.
Basically my proximity sensor and light sensor don't work. That's a separate issue that I have not been able to fix; so now I wish to make a warranty claim.
When I flash back to the shipped stock rom, do you know if I need to have a Virgin RUU, or will BM(bell mobility) simply be good enough... they're sort of related in Canada, it's odd. I can't find a Virgin shipped RUU anywhere, is there somewhere I can find one?
Or I think I can flash a virgin recovery and install an OTU update ?? I'm sort of unclear on my options.
I can get it back to s-on and shipped, but I just need to know if I can get a hold of a Virgin canada RUU or if any shipped (spec. Bell canada) is good enough.
Thanks for your time.

Huawei U9200

Hello xda! I'm just another fellow newb here. So on to my topic, I would like to know that if im in Canada with wind mobile and I flash a Chinese rom, will it say I'm roaming because I'm not in China? And will flashing the b508/b226 firmware (official non rooted) void my warranty? And also do I have to unlock my sim before I can do this? Or can I just go ahead, install the Chinese rom and change the language to English? I don't care about the software much as i can add missing apps in later, I'm just worried that the device may not even work as a phone after I do this ( I'm worried the cellphone radio would be searching for Chinese providers and frequencies and wouldnt work on wind mobile-they won't return or exchange it) I'm not so sure about wind refusing to fake it back because I didn't root the phone and I only updated to a not yet OTA update. And can I still downgrade back to my original carrier software (wind mobile Canada) (which I have no idea how to do once I flash the b508/b226)???? Thanks to all those who can waste a little bit of their time to help me out. I'd really appreciate any efforts as I know I cannot get great help like xda's from anywhere else! Thank you so much xda community!:thumbup:

Hi friend! This is herna from XDA Assist team.
You have not signal since seems your device does not have a working SIM. As you can see on the statusbar there is a SIM icon and a ?.
So it can seems two things:
1. You have no SIM inserted/detected.
2. You are not getting any kind of signal.
If 1 is the problem just check your SIM. If 2 is the problem, you will be asked here about it after I move the thread to the correctly forum.
For the next time you want to ask about HTC M8 you need to do it HERE
I will move the thread to the place where it should be so you will get the best answer possible from users that also have the same device than you.
Have a nice week!
