Hi everyone,
even though I have been following the forum for a while (since getting my first android a few weeks ago), i haven't ever posted before and the forum doesn't let me post in the relevant thread
which is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696845&page=12 so please excuse my new thread which seems out of place...
here the q/a from the thread
1) Are you rooted yet?
no. (have upgraded my milestone to the official froyo update)
2) Where'd you buy the phone from?
turkey (not locked)
3) Are you on the original ROM you bought it with?
it was eclair. now it runs the official froyo
4) What do you see under settings > about phone > Firmware configuration version?
gas_asia_usams1fryottr_p005
so it is clear from the firmware version that it is a TR version.
according to http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone I could use euro retail (should work b/c 900/2100 bands in both versions)
BUT I want to have a Nandroid backup of the TR version, which I can put back on the phone in case anything goes wrong and I need to send the phone for repairs.
I tried to use OpenRecovery but it doesn't install w/o flashing the phone first (needs the Vulnerable Recovery I assume) and by the time I flash the phone with another sbf, the repair lab will be able to tell that I was playing around with the phone...
so
1. is there a way to extract the sbf from the phone itself somehow?
2. make a Nandroid backup w/o flashing the phone first?
3. change the firmware name in a way that the repair center won't see it?
@the admins: in case this thread is misplaced, please move it to the right section and excuse my noobieness in this great forum
and thanks everyone for their help/advice

Hi all.
As I said in my previous posts I'm waiting for a operator branded HTC Desire S.
I've read just now that the operator realeased an update few days ago (on 17th of february) and I'd like to know if there is a way to save the update file for future use (warranty purpose mainly).
Infact there is no file for the original brand firmware so if I debrand my phone I'll lose the warranty!
In this case if I can save the update file I can go back to my operator firmware solving the problem!
Thank you in advance!

I think what you'd want in this case is probably a RUU. What it does is basically return your phone completely to stock, removing anything you might have done to it. You can find a list of them here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
I would recommend creating a goldcard to reduce the chance of any error and to help it go smoothly if you ever decide to do it.
Hi dan.
I've read that very useful thread but my operator firmware is not listed there.
So I'd loke to know if there is a way to get the image file from the OTA update (I think it's saved somewhere... but I don't know where!)
Can I ask what network branding your phone has? I'm not entirely sure how to download an OTA update for a stock rom so not entirely sure how to get the ROM from it. Maybe someone can shed some light here. I'm not entirely good with RUUs.
On a side note, if you're going to install custom ROMs I would recommend not updating just to make it easier to install custom ROMs.
Sent from my HTC Desire Saga using xda premium
I'm waiting for a Desire S branded from TIM Italy.
As I said, right now there is no way to find the original branded firmware but now that there is this update maybe it can be catched!!!
Hi Guys,
I have an unlocked One Mini which apparently works in all European countries. At the moment its on 4.3 but I found an OTA file online named "OTA_M4_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_3.10.401.4-2.12.401.1_release_351632.zip" which apparently is the update to 4.4.2
As best I can, I have cross referenced the phones build.prop with the updater script in the OTA and the relevant versions / model id seem to match. I also found instructions online about how to apply it. A couple of questions:
Could someone more knowledgable than me please confirm which items I need to match up in both files, so I dont make a mistake?
How do I access the recovery menu itself once recovery starts?
I need to leave it stock for warranty purposes, and I underfstand applying the OTA wont void warranty. Am I correct?
Thanks in advance
No one have any ideas on this?
To answer my own question, I spoke to HTC yesterday, it is the correct update for my phone and installs fine
Hey Guys -
I've looked all through the forums for an answer, but couldn't find a concrete one nor one I was 100% would work for my specific device so decided to post the 3 questions I have...
I've got a Shield Tablet (Wi-Fi USA) which I bought pretty much on day one. Once Lollipop came out, I upgraded to it and in turn re-rooted it afterwards. About a week ago, i got the notification for the 5.0.1 OTA upgrade. I tried applying it by downloading the update then restarting when prompted, but when it came back up it was still at 5.0.0. I'm positive this is due to it being rooted and would still want (need) for it to be after the 5.0.1 upgrade so...
1. What's the best / safest way to apply 5.0.1 (from 5.0.0) to my tablet currently?
2. Will OTA not work if rooted which is why there are so many zip file links in the forums? If not, which update file do I need for USA WiFi only?
3. Once upgraded, what's the best / safest method for re-rooting again? I saw a few posts for how the bootloader needed to be unlocked. Don't know if that's still the latest info. Long way from Towel, huh?
I'm not asking anyone to spell it all out for me, but if you know what to do if you could send me links or whatever to the correct steps / files, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks guys!
Hi All,
The short of a long story is that I just changed carriers and found out way late that I couldn't bring my Sprint phone to MetroPCS. So now I'm using the budget PCS On5 that came with the deal when we signed up.
I successfully loaded TRWP and then rooted however, I didn't know about FRP until it smacked me in the face. The root went fine but later SU prompted me to update the binary and when it did, it tripped factory reset protection and soft bricked my phone.
I want to reinstall stock OS on this phone but it appears that I have a software version that I haven't been able to find on the web yet. I found the stock rom for the MetroPCS On5 easily enough but it's Revision 0.0 and the box I have for the phone says REV0.4.
When I try to Odin Flash the REV0.0 version, I get SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 2, BINARY 1 fail. So I guess I had the latest software on my phone and the phone thinks I'm trying to roll back using the 0.0 revsion.
My question is this, does anyone here have the stock rom for G550T1 REV0.4? Help!
If nobody does, maybe I can still fix this phone. I have a TRWP backup from the sister phone (same model same revision 0.4) that I'm using right now but I can't get back into TRWP on the soft bricked phone to recover that way to use the backup file.
Next I thought I might take the backup files and turn it into a rom and just flash that. However, with the tutorials I followed I kept running into problems. When I went to unpack the files per the tutorial, my rar software said that the file was corrupt. Maybe it is. but maybe not. It was my first time attempting to make a rom. If I can't find the software I need, could any of you Android geniuses help me get this backup into a flashable format?
I have to admit I'm daunted by the FRS in 5.0 and above. Is it defeatable? How do you root newer Android versions?
Thanks!
I did the same thing to my phone. did you get yours fixed?> if so could you provide me with the rom?
I haven't found the fix yet. Hopefully somebody will come through with a helping hand!
I finally got it figured out! So here is what i did and hopefully it will work for you.
1. I Odin flashed a good BL from the ROM REV0.0 floating around on the net. So at least I could now get into download mode.
2. Then I used Kies3 > Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation. It will ask you for your model number and then when you click ok it will ask you for a SN.
3. The trick is that Samsung doesn't put the SN that you need on the phone or the box. (personally, I couldn't find it on the phone either once I got it up and running) so go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/root-samsung-galaxy-on5-t3435457/page46 and get a SN from post #454 and use that. (don't forget to say thanks)
4. Click Ok. Let it work, and max and relax.
Mine took about 10 minutes. Hopefully this will work for you too! Thanks XDA!
Help!
What is BL from the ROM REV0.0? I need your help, I have the MetroPCS On5 and I installed Reborn ON5 I want to go back to the MetroPCS ROM because the camera and the audio do not work and I tried to install the original ROM through Odin but it does not work I get an error. What I can do? I would like to use this method but I do not have very clear files needed.
You could help me bro, I'll thank you
I got a Sprint LG G7 phone from the bay that has been unlocked and flashed to G710ULM Firmware running Android 8.
I want to update to Android 10 if possible. I've never 'hacked' into a phone but am very familiar w/ hacking gaming consoles and feel like I am in familiar territory. With that said, I've read many existing guides and tutorials but have some questions?
1) How do i create (or find) a backup to my current FW in case of errors, etc.
2) Will flashing a FW from another country (Korea, Canada, etc.) render the network services (w/ Sprint) I have useless? In fact, will updating ANY FW render my networking services useless?
3) Do I attempt to flash an updated FW of the original Sprint model (G710PM) or an updated version of the FW that is flashed on the device (G710ULM)
4) Do i need to do an intermediate step of flashing an Android 9 FW or can i go straight to Android 10.
I apologize if any of these questions are redundant to any currently existing guides or posts. I did my due diligence of looking everything up as best as possible before posting these questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm newbie, but i try answer you in my understanding, and of course, i take no responsibility if something unfortunate happens
1/ i dont know any way to backup whole phone, but you can flash current FW (G710ULM) again via cross flash.
2/ i dont use Sprint, but my network service is work properly with Android 10 eu, canada and ulm (lasted is Pie), you can try...
3/ yes, via cross flash (update: there is no KDZ or Dump available. Probably in the future there will be dumps of 710PM but for now there is no).
4/ no, you can flash any version, any model (except tmobile) by cross flash way.
Hi. I know this is an old post, but does op still have Sprint firmware backed up?
If you do, I would love to get it from you. I can't seem to boot off other ULM firmware and I think I need an up-to-date Sprint backup abl, laf, boot, and possibly more. If you don't, have fun with your device and have a good day.
