CM7 to CoreDroid help - HTC Inspire 4G

I was thinking about trying coredroid, but am unsure what i need to do to go from cm7.
In ROM manager coredroid is listed under downloadable roms.
Can I just download, wipe and flash like i do the cm7 updates or is there more too it ?
Looks like i might could start with coredroid 4.6 and the update from there.
Thanks

Yeah in recovery I would flash the full wipe.zip then flash the coredroid. Clear catche and dalvik under advanced settings. Should work

Is this the wipe zip you're talking about?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868720
Is that all that's required as far as flashing new roms on the Inspire? First Android phone was the Captivate and I'm used to having to flash back to the stock rom before flashing something new.

Yes just flash the full wipe then flash your Rom...then clear dalvik and catche. DO NANDROID BACKUP!!!!

Have you seen this ROM ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127479
It was the first custom ROM for the sidekick 4G and has hints of honeycomb all in it. If that's what your looking for there's a theme for the apps and its framework in the themes and apps section, or you can just try that ROM out

well that ROM is quite outdated . it was my first ROM for the sidekick, so what i can suggest is that you can use my latest and most stable ROM TouchMIUIwiz
then flash the Theme from the Honeycombish ROM here SMX Theme theres also a list of themed apps i made that you'll find in that thread aswell
and if you have an orange CWM recovery check your mounts but if you have a ROM with bali (red CWM) then you dont have to worry about checking them. but the install procedure is the same

I am currently running the TouchMIUIwiz ROM. So flashing that theme over this ROM is ok then? Sorry, Im just used to the Mytouch 1.2 I new just about everything about it. Its alot different with the Sidekick.
EDIT:Also do i just flash the newest version of TouchMIUIwiz 2.0 over the 1.1 ROM or what?
Flash the theme over the ROM in CWM , I would advice you to go flash the "Aura" theme it's a honeycomb made theme .

well you still have to do a full wipe from 1.1 - 2.0 , so if you want you can make nandroid backup in recovery, then once you have the ROM installed you reboot back into recovery wipe data then advance restore your data from the backup you made. but if your happy with the way your ROM runs now just install the theme, though i do recommend upgrading to 2.0, it'll be the last time you'll need to wipe with my ROM my next update will be non-wipe
and you can flash the theme right on top of the ROM no full wipe or anything, just wipe cache before rebooting

Two more quick questions. Just for curiosity. What is the manual combination to get into recovery for the sidekick? Does the sidekick have a fastboot mode or just download mode?
Fastboot is an HTC thing, we don't have it. Manual recovery is Vol UP, Vol Down, Camera and power.

[Q] Can't Flash Sense ROMS

I'm having some trouble, I'm currently on CM 7.1, and for reasons unknown, I want to flash a sense 3.0 based rom. I've tried Android Revolution and Virtuous Unity, but every time I try flashing I get stuck at the splash screen and need to restore my backup of CM. Is there anything I'm doing wrong/ not doing? I always clear cache/data every time I flash.
Are you wiping the system partition too? Sounds like maybe old system files or something are causing the bootloop. Wipe that, boot partition, and the dalvik cache.

yeah, and 99% of the rom installers will also wipe dalvik for you too. some of them even wipe cache
So if I'm already wiping everyting, what am I doing wrong? My phone's been rooted for about 3 months, and I've been switching between aosp based roms (cm nightlies, miui, ect) with no problem. I just can't seem to get a sense rom to work for me.

Is your version of clockwork updated? If not, flash it through Rom manager. You should probably flash recovery either way just to be sure. Then select wipe data/factory reset in clockwork, wipe dalvik and flash Rom. Let it sit for about ten minutes to let it boot up. It should hang on the boot screen for a little bit.

Are you selecting wipe data/factory reset through recovery. That gets rid of your android secure file that's on your sd card. You want it to do that.
Did you try reflashing recovery too as I mentioned in earlier post, regardless of if it is current.

I let it sit for about 20 mins, pulled out the battery, and wiped, flashed, and let it sit for another 15. I haven't tried stock, I just want a sense 3.0 rom to work.
Do I need to flash a different radio/ril? And if I mess it up, will a nandroid restore my old radio/ril?

Stop doing wipes after the flash. Custom roms load up things that will be deleted on wipe. I would flash stock and start from square one.
The ril will be included in the rom but you will have to flash the matching radio

Also, b3nny, I don't know if you have tried the ace hack kit lately, but it is fully automated now. It can return you to stock and back to root in under 20min. I would restore to the latest ruu "2.47.502.7" and root from there. I have done this and am able to flash any Rom for the inspire.

I flashed that one from day one and found version 4 with the matched radio (26.13.04.19 ) to be the best performance wise. I stuck with that as my daily for about 2 weeks and that's a while for me. I just flashed bindroids runnymede version (bindroid rhd 2.3.5 v 2.0) and it is really nice. Best looking Rom to date imo and it runs smooth too. I'm going to stay with this one until I see some ics.

Quick rooting question

Hey guys,
Finally got around to working on my phone. I have a question. I've been following this guide here to the letter. But I skipped step 1 as I thought rooting was only for 2.2 Froyo G2x owners as mine's already been updated to 2.3. Do I still need to root it to flash CWM while I'm logged into my phone??
Thanks in advance!!
If flashing cwm via nvflash doesn't work then you'll need to root first, it's been quite some time since I last did this, but I'm pretty sure all you need to do is flash cwm using nvflash and then install the rom of your choice

I honestly never tried to install roms, or kernels, from rom manager, I think you need to buy the premium app to be able to do so. Either way, it's always safer to flash from cwm since you can wipe everything you need to from there (ie. cache, dalvik cache, system, and data) which is very important when flahing different roms, and kernels

[Q] flashing roms without wipe

hi guys...what if I don't super wipe flashing a rom of same version?
I want to switch from android revolution to the aosp virtuous inquisition...
if the roms are made from the same base (3.32) can I flash without wiping and backup?
Prob a bootloop or a hell lot of force closes. Always wipe betas and Alpha's.
You dont need to wipe of you are running a custom rom that updates. But only if the cheff says that you have to wipe.
You wipe your ass after all when you take a **** right?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA
hahahahahahah thanks, the chef says that wipe is not needed (just suggested) if I come from a same base rom....in this case I don't have to, but I'll keep in my mind that I have to wipe my ass....ops, my rom ( XD ) before flash another rom....even if it's same base...

[Q] Flashing a new ROM ?

I currently have CM9 installed on my SGS4G and it's been over a year since I had it and wanted to try something new. After browsing in the dev forum, I decided to try out the SlimBean 4.2.2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233640
I was wondering will my phone be able to handle it? Its still on ICS 4.0.4. The first instruction says to factory reset/wipe my phone but I don't really want to erase everything. Can I just download the SlimBean rom and flash it while on my CM9? Will it change my ROM to SlimBean or will something really bad happen.

That would be what's called a dirty
flash only used if you are upgradeing your current ROM..
You will have all kinds of problems dirty flashing jellybean from ICS..
Back up your app data with Titanuim Backup and try restoring app data 1 by 1..But don't dirty flash JB from ICS follow the OP's flashing
