First can we have sounds on our boot animations? Found a really cool animation over on the desire HD forums and want to use it...where do I put the sound file? Also what to name the file?
And where do we put shutdown animations? And what about the sound files for them? And what to name them?
Thanks in advance

Out of curiosity, is it possible to change the boot animation easily on the Droid Charge?

It should be as simple as using an application such as "root tools" where it allows you to change the boot animation. Or you can use a file explore such as "Adao File Manager" after root access and going into the boot files and replacing the animation with one of your own...

It will be with a custom kernel that allows for bootanimation.zip support.
Suppressing Sound on Boot Animation
Hey Imnuts,
I know we had codes through the dialer for suppressing boot animation sounds for the fascinate. Anything like that for Charge that you know of?
Thanks
Zeek

LOCATIONS OF SOUNDS AND ANIMATIONS
Startup sound;
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
Startup animation;
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
/system/bin/bootanimation
Shutdown sound;
/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg
any file you dont want to have play add .bak to the end of the file. You will need esfile explorer and root!
Shutdown video (directory of .qmg);

The binary file for stock boot animations is /system/bin/samsungani as an FYI
I found the files, pulled it, edited it with the new images and pushed it back. Yet it plays the same animation. Any ideas?
Bump, anyone? Im sure someone knows the problem... Thanks.

Thanks man but as of right now we cant modify these, right?
So I used Root Explorer to rename the poweron.wav to poweron.wav.bak, and now I have no retardulous bootup sound!
Has anybody tried renaming the bootup animation files to or replacing them with null files or something? I wouldn't be surprised if it results in failed bootup.

Its not a simple process...u have to edit the params.lfs and then flash it with heimdall then copy in a new image

The above sounds intimidating, but I would be stoked if somebody posted a walkthrough.
I was thinking it might best be left up the ROM developer, but I'm sure many people on a given ROM would want the boot animation. I would like it disabled, or better yet, I would like to see what the phone is doing (kindof like Windows XP Safe Mode Startup)
I cannot find an answer regarding this and I think my post was deleted from another thread regarding the boot animation.
Does anybody know if we can disable the boot animation on the Droid Charge?
I was easily able to disable the boot sound by renaming the poweron.wav sound file to poweron.wav.bak with Root Explorer, and it worked like a charm.
I noticed the .qmg files for the boot animation but I didn't want to bootloop the phone by renaming them because I don't really know what I'm doing.
Does anybody know a safe way to disabling the boot animation?
Thanks!
As far as I know, deleting the boot ani qmg file won't bootloop the phone and it will just stop the animation from happening. The bootanimation binary will run, not find the file, and exit, but the boot process should continue normally. It'd be the same as if you were using bootanimation.zip files and just removed the zip, you'd get basically nothing.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go and report back!
EDIT: Renaming bootsamsung.qmg to bootsamsung.qmg.bak in sytem/media with rootexplorer worked perfectly. Maybe I'm tripping, but it seems like it boots up faster. Nice!
I download and install cm-10-20120811-UNOFFICIAL-infuse4g, its great! But i would like to add sound in bootanimation.
Anyone know how?
