Hi XDA
I have this strange problem...
I flashed cool hd v9 via rom manager also installing alignment_cool.zip
Now i want to install the cool hd v9 data2ext requirering me to have a 768 MB ext4 and a 256 MB ext.
The problem is that when i boot Ubuntu 10.10 and start Gparted, only 6.62 GB fat32 shows for my 8 GB sd card. Their is nothing else, no ext nor unallocated space.
Can anyone help?

Did you try backing up the contents, formatting the card, and then moving what you need back over?
Yes.
I have tried repairing it and formating it to fat32 with windows, and after that opening it with GParted, but it still only recognizes the 6,62 fat32 partition...

I am using Ubuntu to partition my 8GB microSD card. Does it matter which partition is primary, logical, or extended? What should they be?
Hi,
I've done this and both fat32 and ext2 partitions should be primary.
I 1st had the fat32 partition and then added the ext2 partition.
My ext2 partition is 1.4 gb and the fat32 32 is 6.4 gb.
Hope that helps.

I have Ubuntu Linux installed on my MacBook Pro (dual boot). You can download the Live CD for Ubuntu, but Im not sure if you can install applications. I had to install Gparted, a partition manager for linux. Once you install that, run it and pick your SD card. I had my G1 hooked via cable to my laptop. Create the first partition as FAT32 - Primary - whatever size you want, keep between 500MB - 1.5GB free for your EXT2 partition (2nd partition). Click "Apply". Next create the second partition using the leftover space - EXT2 - Primary. Click "Apply". You are done.
Ex. I have a 8GB microSD card
Partition 1 - FAT32 - Primary - 6.5 GB
Partition 2 - EXT2 - Primary - 1.5 GB
HI,
I use windows xp with a program called Paragon Partition Manager.

Hi,
I have just bought a 32GB SD Card from Amazon. Komputerbay Class 10.
I have been running Sandvold's ICS ROM for the last month and all was fine, but I wanted a faster SD card.
I used Easeus Partition Manager using Windows XP and I created a 1GB ext2 partition after a FAT32 Partition.
However, I made it logical and wasn't able to change it to Primary, so I created another ext2 partition, this time Primary.
So, FAT32 partition of 28GB ish Primary, ext2 of 1GB Primary then ext3 of 1GB logical.
However, although my PC can see the FAT32 partition, my Desire cannot.
It can however see it in recovery which allowed me to flash the ROM etc.
Any ideas please?
Cheers
Perhaps you can format the card from the recovery, using 'Partition SD' option.

I read that it was not a safe thing to do to partition that way, but there shouldn't be a problem formatting that way?
But unfortunately not.
Still undetected.
I can put the old one in and it is found, so pretty sure it's not the phone.
As an update, I've just tried formatting to NTFS then back to FAT32 without joy.
Also, the ext2 does work as I had 988 MB of internal memory at one stage yesterday.
GPart Live worked a treat. All sorted.
The drivers on the laptop I used rendered the screen almost unreadable whilst using it, but at home it was fine.
I had a very similar problem: i create an ext3 partition and a fat32 one, but when i plugged the phone o the pc i cannot see any memory... After several tryouts, i made both the partition primary, BUT i place the fat32 at the beginning. And everything works fine xD
I used the MiniTool Partition Wizard H.E. to partition my sd card. My sd card is 4GB, I resized it into 2965MB so my internal memory free space is 1GB. When I flashed ICS (4.0.3) from kabalban I download 5 apps (not games) and it ate all of my free space in my phone (internal memory 198MB, free space 21MB -_-)
Please help thank you!

I have an ext3 of 512MB and it works just fine, I don't tried installing applications on the ICS ROM but it recognized those I installed on the CM 7.1.5...
Oh, and I used Gparted, you can also try using S2E to move the applications, its on the market ...

How big is your ext3 partition? As I recall, it will only work if it is less than 1Gb. Anything more is excessive, unnecessary, and non-functional

On a 16GB SD card I have a 2 GB EXT3 partition and it works just fine.
I used GPartEd to partition the card.
So I think he should try GPartEd, make sure the EXT3 partition is the 2nd one and if there are still problems try a different SD card.
You were in the same situation I was in when I had the milestone. Here is the answer.
Unlike phones like the HTC Desire the milestone does not support a2ext. Therefore. Your internal storage will always be very low. However apps that are big will automatically be moved into the ext partition so you don't actually have to worry about running out of space

There are flashable script which make the Milestone display internal memory of up to 1GB - but they are not compatible with CM
Creating an ext partition is much easier. I've got a ~520MB ext part. on HO!NO! mod an for me it is fine

delete partition and create new partition
can u describe how i can do that?
i think i have to do that in the TWRP ?
i'm now on: Advanced/Partition SD Card
i can change:
EXT Size: 512
and
Swap Size:32
and i can choose: EXT3 or EXT4
or I have to do it differently?
Ok thanks i got it
i connected my phone as mass storage on my computer
i used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.6 to delete the partition and create a new one.
Finish disconnect the phone from pc.
On my phone shows error that the SD Card cant be scanned and have to format
I format it and get 7.39 gb i thinks thats normal that i dont have exactly 8 gb
Is there any script for increasing internal memory supporting FAT32 partition? cause when I rooted the phone I partitioned the 8 gb sd card with 2gb FAT32. If not, can I convert FAT32 into ext partition? How?
Use link2sd for fat or fat32. And you can convert this partition to ext by using easyus partition manager.
Hit thanks if I helped you.

Found the solution. Partitioned using the cwm recovery. Now I have 5.6 gb fat and 2057 mb as ext.
