Im trying to compare some build props for net speed and would like to ask if some one could post their sgs 4g build.prop or just the values for all the ro.ril parameters. Thanks

No one?

I'd gladly help but idk what you are referring to or how to get these values.
Thanks. You have to be rooted, the with root explorer, go to system folder and copy the build.prop file to your sd, then upload here. Or long click on the build.prop file and open as text, and you will see the contents of the file. All i kneed is the values that start with ro.ril.
Example: ro.ril.hsdpa=
Ro.ril.hsxpa=
Etc.
Thanks!

I think the main problem is no one has played with it accept for me and its built into my Deodexed KB5 Enhanced rom so those are the only changes you'd see from stock.

So many of you may or may not know, but thanks to drhonk we now have init.d support for our roms
init.d is a folder in your system/etc area and its a folder that can contain different kinds of tweaks such as:
startup tweaks
ram boosters
performance tweaks
etc
How do i use it? simply by having drhonks 2.1 kernel and the init.d folder(with whatever tweaks you may like) in system/etc
Here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ja5t131d395blty/init.d.zip
is an init.d folder with tweaks from: darky, the bionix frost rom and the trigger rom, all in one folder
just unzip using file expert or whatever you use, and place init.d in system/etc then reboot
Thanks to:
darky for rambooster
birge and edt for tweaks
and teamwhiskey/ drhonk
and the rest of the community
Copied it to /system/etc ..rebooting

How do I tell if its working?
doesn't appear to be a folder within the archive. just the files. if i rename it, it just shows up as a file, not a folder. am i doing something wrong?
Should I...
A) create the init.d folder manually and extract the files into it
B) move the .zip file and rename it even though it doesn't show up as a folder
As above, how do we tell if it's working?
Thanks!

Test your phones performance also check to see how much ram you have when your using a task killer I'm now getting lots more free ram when task killing and my phone is much more smooth

You aren't suppose to use task killers with froyo and beyond.

I went with option A and that must have been right because I have just over 200mb of ram free and the phone is just insanely fast and sooooooo buttery smooth.
thank you so much for this!
If option A in my original reply was the wrong one, please let me know....

although apps do re-open almost immediately, some apps stay closed.. my phone bogs when i have alot of apps open, especially when i try to use intensive apps.
that being said i dont use the task killer much to free up memory but to kill apps right before i lock my phone- saving me alot of battery while my phone sleeps.
the article talks alot about processes but i dont go crazy with auto kill and advanced options.. bc they do create instability..
the truth is even the stock rom includes a built in task killer, as do many high end android phones, along with a task manager widget..
Just downloaded and will post my opinions asap. Thanks alot for this and for sharing it with the community! This baby just keeps getting better and i'm already woopin ass on everyone's phones that i know. Out preforms anything im coming across!
So what do we do with the init.d tweaks that r inside the folder?

One of three things:
1) push the tweaks into system/etc/init.d
2) if you do not have init.d folder create it and push the tweaks there
3) push the init.d folder from the download as a whole instead of just the tweaks into system/etc

Thanks man. I noticed the folder came with the kernel. The folder is already in system/etc. So im guessing I don't do nothing then just as long the folder is im system/etc right

I can appreciate that you are posting from your phone, but please make a little effort to ensure that your text is at least parsable English. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.
I just need to know how to enter values.
I long press and it only let's me view not edit text

if you are using root explorer, you just click the button at the top that says r/w, long press on the file, and open in text editor
its quite simple to do actually
Thank you !!!! LOL that's all I was missing that did it. I didn't know to mount r/w bahaha
Now I know

Because I don't have The build.prop file so I got from the and paste it to the system after I rebooted the phone the file was gone
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
I believe some phones don't have the build.prop (maybe sense?). You can probably find guides on google that will tell you how to change the device model for your specific phone. (Note, you need root to change the build.prop file)
I did root it

Are you sure the app you are using to change the file has the root access and write and read options ticked in the settings? I usually use ES Explorer...go to settings and make sure you have those options ticked, otherwise you won't be able to modify system files. Then find the bootanimation.zip (system>customize>resources) then replace the bootanimation file for the one you actually want.
Let me know if you could do it. See ya
Nope... changed it but this time I was able to delete the file and replace it but my file is located I'm system media Idk this is annoying tho

After installing the S Voice app, use a root explorer app to edit your build.prop
Change...
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus ( your Phone )
To
ro.product.model=GT-I9300
and. ro.product.device=GT-I9300
i am on HTC one x..???
it works
allcal>> You have to change the 2 lines from endeavoru to GT-I9300 and you will need root access to do this bulid.prop file is in system folder
thanks and guestion
Just changed my build.prop and S-Voice works again.
What impact to my phone and other applications does this change have?
Thanks.

you need to reread that OP. you didnt do what he said at all.
Build.prop changes aren't needed anymore. There's a new .apk that works without it.
