Has anyone tried the new LiveProfile app. They released it today for BB so its the closest thing we have to BBM. So far im loving it, its really fast! What do you guys think?
I love it!
Moving from blackberry to android had me missing all my bbm friends, but now I can talk to pretty much everyone with a smartphone lol. Awesome.
Liveprofile so fast.. but need more media sharing, group chat
I now using whatsapp, its almost like a bbm
Pingchat is better then whatsapp as you can add people via a username instead if phone number
whats the advantage of this over Ping?
Ping never really worked for me. This has a really nice UI smileys, facebook integration. Plus ping is a huge battery drain according to my friends on BB.
It's way to buggy!!!!! But it has gotten really popular

it seemed to work so much better before they added BB users. Hopefully they continue to improve things and add new features
Works great for me but updating my profile with a pic took half a day to show up.
But the chats are fast.

ping chat was good but 80% of the time message doesn't get pushed, i get a lot better pushing with liveprofile

I want one that syncs with Google Reader and that's pretty much my only requirement.
I've used Feedr, NewsRob, and PureRSS, but want something better.
What do you guys use?
I know it isn't much help to you, but I use News Rob Pro and love it. I want to find one with a good widget that gives me a small summary of the articles.
Maybe try this one BlueRSS http://bluegorilla.fr/blog/?page_id=32

I've tried all of them and I keep coming back to NewsRob.
What features do you want that none of those three have?
"Better" is too subjective. Need more details on specific features.
I am using gReader and FeedSquares, haven´t decided which one to use.
Greed is the only one that works almost as it should.
i use gReader. updates every other day almost... thats a good sign that the dev is working hard on this app. its the cleanest looking app for me... though it looks like an iphone app.
using newsrob here, don't know what more you could want..
Try "A Good Reader" I just tried it and personally like the look. Looks like its a new app.

I went through multiple free and paid ones. Feeder was my preference and I still have no regrets, loving it.

Pulse was just released yesterday and I picked it up. Far and away the best RSS reader for Android. It can synch with your Google Reader account as well. The only bummer is that it can only hold 20 feeds. It is $1.99 well spent.
As you might have heard, TweetDeck has released its Twitter app for Android after what seems to be ages of development, at least for me, as I’ve been dying for this. Twidroyd has long been, at least in functionality, best Twitter app for Android, but TweetDeck hopes to change that by bringing the best Twitter app for PC to Android. Interestingly, its not a direct port of their iPhone app, rather, its been built from the ground to up to showcase the changes that TweetDeck hopes to roll out across its other platforms. I’ve gotta say, its looking great, but not quite there yet. Check out the video for a demo of the great functionality as well as the missing functionality. All in all, though, great job TweetDeck.

Tweetdeck is nice, the font size is annoying though

from the apple store loling
Naw it's definitely not the best quite yet. It's lacking A LOT feature wise but it's on the right track. It's been the main one I've used since it came out yesterday. Just might replace my Twitter for Android in the end.

TweedDeck desktop is awesome. Can't beat it imo. TweedDeck for Android... another story. As someone said above, they have a long ways to go. ALTHO one think I do like, is the smoothness of the app. Thats all tho... I'm sure over time it will get better, but they have lots of catching up to do.

Well said. Thats exactly how I feel. The app is really smooth and I like that it brings you back where you left off in every column, but they've got a lot of work to do. But with their apps for other platforms, I know they can do it.
What's wrong with TweetCaster?

Not bad....
I dig it. It's not fully featured, but it is really smooth. I'll keep it to test it out for now, but I'm not getting rid of my primary twitter/fb apps. I'll keep those and reserve judgment on this app until the official release is out.

Don't complain
To all of you that complains about Tweetdeck for Android. It's still beta and not the finished application. I can assure you there is frantic activity over at Tweetdeck support, and I don't doubt that this will be a killer app
I think it kinda sucks at least right now, all the other Twitter apps I've tried are better and actually have features. And it won't stop sending Twitter notifications which I don't want as it's constant and annoying. Oh and it's ugly..haha. I'm sure it will get better though. I like Twicca myself.

In the app, hit Menu>>Manage Columns and turn off the notifications you dont want
TweetCaster lets you to disable all background notifications.
tweetcaster is really everyone main twitter app? over twidroyd pro and toutier?
i liking tweetdeck so far.. it is lacking some options.. but i like seeing my fb/tweets in one column. twidroyd is my fallback.

Thanks to whoever told me how to turn off notifications. I wasn't getting them then randomly this morning they started coming in. I just use Pure Messenger to read FB/tweets in one column and open Twicca/Facebook from Pure Messenger to post something. I like it because it's a widget. Is Tweetdeck going to put out a widget? I didn't notice one looking through my widgets.
Well, The Facebook app sucks, so I never really use it anymore. In a way this has been great in easing me off of facebook. so thanks to the devs for making an insanely SLOW app for facebook.
The iphone one was so sweet, i was on facebook all the time. and now, I get to NOT see everyone else's lives all the time hearing about things that I don't care about. I now use facebook on my computer and way less. haha
I don't like how facebook is basically a government profiling system, and you volunteer by signing up.. Pure evil genius right there.
That is all.
p.s. I LOVE my rooted, unlocked, and dual core modded HOX! android rocks! and CleanROM is even Rockier! (golden rocks)
Facebook app does seem to get worse after every update, slower and slower. My wife says "it's thinking, it's thinking"

This will be the One and Only thread about JB discussion. Anything JB goes here. Any other thread will be locked.
Cheers
Edit: No ETA
Awesome. Couple things I want to bring to the table.
1) @prbassplayer: Asking for an ETA should be fine, people want to know an ETA for something they're excited for. The release of ANYTHING (movies, games, etc) all have people wanting a release date.
2) How new does 4.1 actually seem? Code wise I mean; do devs need to change the hell out of the GNex ROM, or is just many small things that break when tried on our phone.
3) Finally high res contact pictures
4) My friend's running JB, and it's sick. Be excited for this.
5) I was hoping for integration of Gtalk, G+ messenger, SMS, Gvoice and all their other chat programs. The ideal of a unified messaging system for all their services + SMS is just too awesome. I'm actually a little unsure why thye haven't done this.
The release of Movies, games, etc usually mean money for the production side. Devs here do this for free (apart from donations). No ETA's. Its out when the devs feel its worth releasing.
Cheers
So soon cleaning thread. On Topic JB
Cheers
Guys, drop the eta debate please. Lets keep this a thread worth having. Flame and expectation free. It is not why its here. Moving on.....
What is the feature from jb that you are most excited to see? The previously mentioned hi def contact pictures is appealing to me, since I put individual contact shortcuts on my launcher home page. Hoping for the best on this. We have some great devs working on it.

Google Now, Project Butter, and the notifications. I'm also glad they finally put in high res contacts.
Honestly, all I'm missing from Android now is a unified messaging service. They already have the potential, just need to implement it.
Also, I'm excited ಠ_ಠ will now be a native symbol between phones. ಠ_ಠ
Project butter, and notifications! High res contacts is cool but theres already an app that fixes that.. so they just making it built in finally. (as it should have already been)

The problem is Gmail contacts actually, when you wipe for a ROM it looses all the high res pics when syncing. So I'm actually not sure if this inclusion will help at all?
Also HUGE thing that people may have not noticed, watch the demo here. The program autocorrects itself for context. From know to though.
How big a change, in terms of coding and implementation, is JB? *Note, NOT asking for an ETA, Devs take as long as you want/need* I'm genuinely curious as it seems like a minor change compared to GB to ICS, so I'm not sure how that translates to kanging it for our phone.
I really like the stuff I'm seeing with Google Now. I love stuff like that. Butter is definitely a nice touch but honestly I never feel like my phone is lagging enough for it to bother me.
Can't wait for my Nexus 7 to get here so I can start playing with it!

I really dont have any lag issues either, but it is because of Seanzscreams excellent Rom and the tweaks he has put in place. But, just imagine jb being that smooth from stock, and then our devs further improving on it. WOW! The possibilities are insane. I am pretty excited.

I'm using it right now. The nexus i bought off google play a few months back when it came out got the update too.
Probably been asked a million times, but I can't find the answer, what is the best Facebook app? I need notifications at least every half hour, full features and speed. I bought friendcaster pro last year but lately it has been buggy and unusable, and the official app hogs data and is SLOW. Any help would be much appreciated

When I had Facebook and all that I used Seesmic. A lot better than stock, doesn't hog too many resources, sync works fairly well, overall a awesome app if you hate the stock FB app.
Nevermind, can't give you a link because I don't more than 10 posts.
Goodluck, and let me know what you think! :good:

Yep, there is. In fact, type in "facebook alternative" in the Play Store and you will see there are several. The one I currently use is FBMX - Another Facebook Client. It seems to be faster -- and more reliable -- than the stock one and does everything I need it to do. I used to use Friendcaster too, but I agree that it has gotten too buggy lately; I liked it better before it became overly popular.
