[Q] Change Carrier Info? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I'm going to receive my NS tomorrow and I'm trying to catch up with the latest development on this device.
I read, that theres a Samsung flash tool available (Odin) to flash several parts of the devices software.
Can you guys sum up, what can be done with the tool?
I was in particular thinking about re-branding my NS from "Carrier Info: Vodafone" to "Carrier Info: EUR" for example. (Don't know exactly wether my device will be VF or EUR)
How about re-locking the bootloader? Can this be done with the Odin-Tool?
Thanks
Sebastian

Never mind. Already figured it out.

[q] can t flash hspl to rhodiumw sprint

Hi everyone, it think now someone could help me
After my HTC TP2 verizon, they give me a sprint one. I've tried to flash hspl but it's impossible, tried flash stock rom, the process stopped at 1% and told me INVALID VENDER ID. I can put it in bootloader and it's shows RHOD400, 32M SS-BC SPL-0.63.0000.
when i boot it it stops on a black screen where it's written touch pro 2 test only not for sale.
How can i get it running? Please help me
Sounds like you got some developer model, perhaps the bootloader is different enough so HSPL will not work...
Why would Verizon give you a Sprint branded TP2...? That makes no sense whatsoever.
I've taken that with a friend, not verizon give it to me. So how can i try to flash hspl? please help me

Re-read my last post. It sounds like you got some special dev/test model, where the bootloader is different enough causing HSPL to fail.
I am not skilled enough to determine "why", all I can do is speculate off of the output you provided.

You won't be able to use a sprint device on Verizon service without some hacking too.
You will not be able to get the HSPL to work on this phone because it looks to see what phone it is before it unlocks it. With a develppment model there is no way to know what the id's being used are without hacking the phone.
The only way is if you could get the devs to edit the unlocker for you. Good luck with that. They don't even answer their help desk requests for this app at this point. It is abandon-ware as far as I can tell.
Just pick up a replacement off ebay for like $50, or use this one for parts and replace the system board from one with a busted screen.
What do you mean by development model, and where can i find the developper s site?

A development phone is one that is provided to a company before the official release of a phone for the purpose of debugging, and software development. It is usually labeled not for resale. These phones frequently are non-standard. You will need to contact HTC to find out what developer it was assigned to before you would be able to find out what the developer's site would be.
Best advice, just get another phone. You will not get this one to work unless you are a software developer and reverse engineer.
thanks

[Q] xt910 downgrade

Hi xdadevelpers team unfortunately i have installed an unoficial rom for my device from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069935 it works very good and no thing wrong with it but i have to send my phone to the Authorized agent here in egypt because of a problem at the sim card place in the phone so i need to get back to the official kernal which is ics is there any way to do this please help me
have you noticed, that this is the Razr HD section ?
And yes. MOAR fonts
Though you are indeed in the wrong forum, i'll help you out
There are 2 possibilities:
1. Your bootloader is unlocked:
Grab the appropriate Stock FW here: XT910 Stock Firmwares
And flash your phone according to this guide: http://www.andromods.com/tips-trick/how-to-restore-unroot-droid-razr-m-xt907-stock-original-firmware.html
Though the guide is for the xt907, it'll also work for xt910. As long as your BL is unlocked...
2. Your bootloader is locked and you're on safestrap:

And above all: Next time post your question here: Droid RAZR Q&A

What do you mean by saved cid? Is your phone carrier locked? Or what are you trying to say? You should pick a stock fw, which is at least your country/region better also from your carrier. It may also not be available at the site i mentioned.
If it is not available you could try and make a request. See the op of this thread
There is no such thing as an "unlocked bootloader" XT910 nor any other OMAP chipset Motorola device unless it is an engineering model with an NS bootloader.
There is no OEM unlock available for those devices and there never will be as the bootloader was never designed to be unlocked.
Motorola themselves have stated as much publicly.
This person has wiped their CID. partition in order to successfully flash a firmware from a different region onto his device.
He should seek advice in the proper forum fro those who have experience with this type of cross flashing issue.
It is precisely as a result of the locked bootloader status of these devices that these kinds of issues arise when users attempt to update their device with firmware not intended for their specific hardware or regional configuration.
Uh thanks for the heads up, wasn't aware of that. I assumed that motorola devices would be all similiar with this.

Checking whether bootloader is locked, and unlocking it?

Hello,
I've searched through xda and other websites but couldn't find a proper answer -- my apologies if this was already asked and answered in an existing thread.
I have purchased a S6 from Amazon, but the device is branded with Swisscom, with an awful boot logo and sound, and a few specific apps.
I'm waiting for a nano sim, so for now I don't know if the phone is also simlocked.
I intend anyway to install custom roms, so I don't care much about this, however I can't find out whether the bootloader is locked or not (in which case, I'll have to send it back to Amazon I guess).
Can someone assist with this? The device is a SM-920F, I made the OTA update to 5.1.1 upon powering it (which might have been a bad idea actually, from what I read later..). Not sure what the bootloader and rom exact versions are, but I will add them to the post if necessary.
Thanks in advance!

Yes bootloader is unlocked. As far as which firmware you can use, you'll have to wait til you find out if its an international unlocked G920F. If so, you have many firmwares to choose from, just Odin and boot. Then recovery and factory reset and your CSC codes will all be lined up (that's just what I do) and happy flashing.
Thanks for the feedback.
Just got the nanosim, which registered just fine on Orange France, so the device appears to be unlocked and operational.
I'll proceed with rooting etc. in the coming days.
Cheers

How to remove Demo software from XZ.

As the title says, I'm wondering how to remove the demo software from a few live demo units i've gotten my hands on.
I'm gonna give it to my kid to use around the house to play games and such.
The bootloader unlock is allowed, and just wondering how to go about doing this.
I'm a noob to rooting in general, but I rooted and custom rommed a Samsung S2 and a HTC M9 many moons ago, so I understand some of the basics.
I know I could send it out to a phone workshop to get them to remove the demo software, but they want 40£ to do the job.
Too expensive If I could do it myself.
So, where do I start? What do I need to do first?
Unlock the bootloader, then root the phone? What comes afterwards?

Thats it? no unlocking bootloader and so on?
No. Flashing Offically Signed Firmware is possible without any Unlock.
Must be Signed by Sony ofc.

SM-G970U with SM-G970F FIrmware?

Hello All,
Ok so first off you guys at XDA are the ****! I swear I can find anything I need to know on this site with a little research, much respect. So as the title suggests I wanted to know if it's possible to flash a SM-G970U (US) with SM-G970F (UK) firmware? I am basically looking for a slightly less complicated way of enabling "OEM Unlock" to Unlock the bootloader. And yes I realize that more than likely I will not be able to use any US sim cards with that firmware but if it is possible and I could unlock the bootloader I could basically load anything I wanted onto it right?
......actually seems like the SM-G9700 would be a better candidate for the firmware to load on the SM-G970U.
.....be gentle, I'm a N00B...kind of =\

Actually i want to know as well because i read somewhere where someone said its possible because they are all the same models........did it work for you?
yea no...don't do that it won't work
Lol i already tried it flashed succesfully according to odin but when the device rebooted it came with the same firmware before and nothing changed Lmao
how did it flashed ,please specify
I was told this is not possible. Unless you can find original overstock (i.e. that has NOT been updated) in which case you can pay to unlock the bootloader.
Otherwise, I believe any bootloader beyond v1 cannot be bootloader unlocked. Only hope is Sammie does us a solid when this goes EOL and unlocks the bootloader. Question is whether VZW and AT&T will prevent them from doing that.
My S10e is still going great, and if I could root and flash a custom rom I'd probably replace the battery and roll with it another 3-4 years because I have no interest in the larger phones that dominate the Android market now.
