Fixed the text issue...gray boxes with white text
Looks good so far, but can't read any in-app menus (hit the menu key in email for example) and the default messaging app looks messed up... tried with ec10 pnp rom

ill have to make an edit then...is it all dark or all light...the text?
the text is all black, blends in with the background. In the messaging app, the bubbles aren't quite black, so you can just BARELY see the text. White text in both of these scenarios would make this look just about perfect in my eye.

Same issue still... For example:
1.) Press the "Menu" soft key (from a home screen)
2.) Press the "More" option
Can't view text
Also, in notifications, it's white text on a gray background. Any possibility of making the text a little more visible?

It's all covered in this reference; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831715
For the secondary menu i'ts under "expanded.menu" or something like that, for some reason that one won't work if called with @/color so what you actually need is the original code that was there (something like "?SmallTextInverse", and just remove the "inverse" from the end, and that will change the text color properly.)
For notifications, you'll have to edit XML located within the Layout folder, i'ts listed in that guide too. Let me know if you need help!

Using DC v2.06. I have a clear lockscreen, as shown below. Right now the notifications come up transparent (missed call, etc) at the bottom of the screen. With the clear lock, it's very heard to read the text. Hence why I added the extra black bar at the bottom of the phone, to make them readable.
However, that bar is ugly at the bottom! Is it possible for someone to figure out a way, through the xml file, to add a black shadow to the white notification text, so that it will still be readable with a clear lockscreen? See the default date/time text on the default lockscreen for an example of what I'm after.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You mean like this .
When no notifications:
Missed call:
Press while screen locked:
I applied a black background, 50% transparent, that will only appear when a notification message exists.
Replace the attached in your 'layout' folder and you are good to go (removed the .txt extension).

Everything transparent is basically the completely clear lockscreen, the above adds the shadow for when notifications appear, so that the text is more readable.

Awesome. Thank you so very much! I'll have to try this in the morning.
I seem to be having a problem that I didn't notice before using this...
When my alarm goes off, I can't disable it from the lockscreen. I have to unlock my phone before I can shut off the alarm.
JsChiSurf, could you let me know if you have the same issue? I'm not saying 100% sure that this is what caused it, but it's the only change I've made recently.
Thanks!

The XML files are compiled binaries. You have to use a hexeditor to modify / patch the locations in the binary you wish to change.
Is anyone else having the alarm issue with this? I have to unlock my lockscreen in order to turn off the alarm.
Hi All,
I've been trying to figure out how to theme by taking a theme apart and then comparing stuff to my phone. I got "most" of the Revolution Theme working properly on my Mez. It was taken from the Fascinate Theme Thread...
The only thing that I've found that has a force close is trying to go into sound settings...
Anyone know where that file is in the theme pack that I need to change?
I've attached a screen shot for your review of what it looks like.
OK, I got it working. I had to pull out my Settings.apk, make the changes to it and then put it back into the package. Seems to be working well now.
The only thing that hasn't changed that I want to change is the lock screen. Anyone know what files specifically need to be modded to change that?
Anyone interested in trying it out? Remember to do a backup before giving this a try!
I'm running SuperClean .2 with a voodoo kernel as a reference point
Put it on the root of your SDcard and then boot into clockwork and choose install Retrokid_Revolution_DJ05_V3.6.mez.zip.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1429928/Retrokid_Revolution_DJ05_V3.6.mez.zip
I'll give it a go.
As a point of reference:
Variant of the voodoo kernal
Pick-n-Pack rom
Hope you like it. I have to figure out how to fix the lock screen though.

I'll be looking at it too, as this goes along with what I'm doing while I'm on vacation anyway. I am not 100% sure, but I think the lock screen and a few other things that you are going to want, are going to be in the framework.res.
Another note, this uses aosp mms.apk which has a problem still with sending and receiving picture messages.
I got it installed. (Sorry it took so long, I didn't realize I was at 3% battery when I posted)
Installed with no issues, however I'm getting a big difference in the battery meter. My widget says 65%, the rpm battery gauge says 80%.
Also, it reinstalled Mail, which I had taken off in the Pick-n-Pack. Was that in the zip?
Yes, mail was included as one if the customized apps. Hmmm, you didn't want mail? Not sure how to remove that. Do you liked it? I live the font and different icon scheme.
The mms its a problem but I was going that once it got fixed that I'd be able to update it.

Just as a thought, you might want to change the name slightly. The DJ05 part of the name has to do with the release version. The Mesmerize is currently on DI14. Nothing critical right now, just confusing if and when we start getting updates and things need to be changed for themes to work with different ROMs.
Great work, btw. Glad to see others are working on stuff for the Mesmerize.
Good point. I'll make the change to the file name.
Thanks!
So, in order to install this all I need to do is flash it in clockworkmod recovery after booting in recovery mode? I almost have this flashing down, but haven't tried a theme yet...
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes, make a backup using Clockwork or Rom Manager first, then boot into Clockwork recovery. Scroll to Install from zip. Select "Choose zip" then navigate to it on your SD card. Select it and it will install. Let me know how you like it.
I will for sure, thanks man.

Dude this is awesome! I love the notification bar (transparency, GPS/wifi/etc icons, black, signal & battle icons), and the font, and the way the texting looks (even though I only use Google voice) and the search bar, and stars and checkmarks, and loading icon.
A couple issues I have with it though:
+When you hit the menu button, its impossible to read the black text on the black background the text should be white or grey I think
+ the battery meter isn't very accurate (according to "battery status"). I would love if the battery could be more accurate, because the app I have right now has almost the same icon for telling how full the batt is (only yours looks way cooler, and its on the other side of the notif bar, which I like)
+Then the last thing is this font, which I think there's something I can do to fix. I like the font on my keyboard and in menus and stuff, but I don't really want it on every webpage and text. I use dolphin browser, you know what I could do?
Last thing, is it possible to make Google voice look like the normal texting app, or different in any way? I'm not a huge fan if the way it is now.
Overall I really like it, and I'm keeping it : ) thanks!

Trying this out on my Super Clean .3 rom with voodoo kernel.
Can confirm that this works and is sexy; I agree with the three gripes above though. Can't read the menu buttons, battery isn't perfect, and the font is a bit annoying. If possible the status bar might look a little better with a slight gradient, though that might just be the wallpaper or whatever. Overall, this is a good theme.
-herpderp-
A couple more spots I've noticed the font is a hard color...
-android keyboard, white squares appear above the letters you press with no letters in them.
-on notification bar, most apps have white text and is a bit difficult to read on grey background.
-theres another one that I forgot where now....
And since I flashed this my YouTube isn't working, and I can't download from mediafire.... haha I think that might be a fluke, but Its weird: s

Guys,
I downloaded a BLACK themed Gmail App from a website. After installing it, i found that the emails are a little bit harder to read as the characters were in Grey colour on Black. So i Modded the characters to WHITE, which is easily readable.
I have tested it on my Sensation. Working fine. The file is attached.

Wanted to report a couple of issues i ran into:
1) When viewing certain emails (like facebook notifications to be exact), the font color wasn't changed properly, so it was white text with a white background, and therefore, unreadable. But other messages were fine.
2) when i rebooted, the normal themed gmail came back? Really weird, why would that happen?

For the Point #2. It happened with me as well. As i said, i did not develop it, i just changed the grey coloured text to white, which makes it easy to read, so i am not sure what really the problem is because it reverts to basic gmail app.
But there is a solution, whatever ROM you are flashing, just replace the original Gmail.apk with this Black Gmail app(Remember to rename this blackgmail app to Gmail.apk"), and flash the ROM, You wont face this problem anymore.

Haha Working on removing the dividers between messages in the main page and will get the chat bubbles changed man. Stay tuned im going to theme all stock apps like this, so they are all neutral with no madness colours.Do you mean the same blue as the scroller down the side?
Anybody who has dug around a bit will notice the yellow is still there in one place, and the first person to tell where that is will recieve the Apk without it.
Open to any suggestions...
Well I can't find it, but the emergency alerts crashes the program on my phone so perhaps that's where the yellow it's hiding.

New Google (SMS/MMS) Messenger from Android 5.0 found to work great on devices running android 4.4+ (source: http://www.gizmobolt.com/2014/10/21/download-google-smsmms-messenger-app-from-android-5-0-lollipop/), rooted or non rooted.
This version (1.0.041), has one little bug in some devices; "search" button does nothing.
Also, a lot of people (including me), found the yellow "plus" button very ugly, so I changed the color of the "plus" button and cleared the (non working) "search" button.
P.S.1 If you want "search" button to be visible, download attachment from post#6.
P.S.2 ONLY non rooted users, could try files from post#29.

Here it is (Blue "plus" button with "search" button visible):
.
Not installing on non root Z2
Only problem with using this on 4.4, depending on the color of your notification shade, if you get multiple messages at once, the text becomes black on black. If it's a single conversation text, it's white. Think you can take a peak at color codes?
Edit: Screenshot.

I don't have this problem. Notification text is dark gray and it stays dark gray even on multiply messages.
If you use other than the stock theme maybe it's themes problem.

Don't have theme chooser.
It happens when getting a message from two people, so " 2 New Messages ", is shown. When not expanded, it's a grayish white, and when expanded, it all goes black.
Think you can share a screenshot? If I see it's different for you, I may have a clue at the black on black.

What did you use to edit the APK? I just attempted to install and failed. I have small ideas as for why.

Unistall stock messenger than move the modded apk into priv-app and restart your device
