Hi, I have one question. Optimus 3D has a Dual-Memory, so it means that he has 2x512mB RAM ?
No.
Some more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-channel_architecture
it will have DDR2 memory, as opposed to the other phone currently and being released only have DDR memory...
basically in easymode jargon the memory is faster
I read that it has 4GB DDR2 RAM.
I'll try to find the website I found it and post it here.
EDIT: It has 4Gigabits of RAM not 4Gigabytes. So in reality it has 512MB of DDR2 RAM.
Its probably an LG marketing "scheme"? Lol

Probably a dumb question but I did not find anything in searching. It says that the Xoom uses DDR2 Ram. Can this be upgraded to 2gb with a different DDR2 Ram module?
No.

Just like phones ram is built into the board.
It will be amazing in the future if we have upgradable devices.
But for now, no
How come my transformer onlyy show less than 400m memory available in the task killer?. I removed all the Widgets and haven't install any extra apps besides angry bird games. The available memory still showing less than 500M. Hows your transformer available memory show?
With 512 MB RAM you get 100-250 MB of free RAM, so >400MB is more than enough for everything !
And you have 1GB for USE not for FREE/USELESS ...

But I thought it has 1gb of ram?

It is.. but the graphics and the OS take up a chunk of it don't forget.
I've seen this question pop up on ever forum for every 1GB device I've looked at so far. There's 1GB of RAM minus what the GPU uses minus what the OS uses. Should be an automatic sticky.
The EVO 3D is basically the same phone as the Sensation with the addition of 3 extra Gb of RAM. The spec sheet for the Sensation on HTCs site lists 4Gb of RAM with a note that only 1Gb is user accessible.
Internal Memory
768 MB RAM, 4 GB Internal Storage (1 GB user addressable)

I remember when T-Mobile's version of the HD2 came out and it had 768 Mb of RAM vs the 512 in the European HD2s and there was a way to unlock the remainder of the RAM with a hack for the Euro models.
I'm sure given HTCs track record that they've used the same hardware (makes sense) to cut down on costs so it's just a matter of a hack from the community to unlock the remaining 3Gb of RAM.
What say ye?

I guess you mean ROM and not RAM...and I've read that it is not possible...
Sure just buy a couple of DDR3 sticks and jam 'em in the microSD slot.

No, said RAM, meant RAM....
You can do the research, I was going by memory but it actually had 1Gb of RAM vs the 448 in standard HD2s. The Euro HD2s had an unlock that at least gave them 576 Mb, I'm guessing the same will be true here.

As you said in your first post, the Sensation is listed with 768 MB RAM, 4 GB Internal Storage (1 GB user addressable). Some of the 768 is then used for Android and Sense, with the remainder being open to run other applications. The 4 GB with 1 GB user addressable is NOT RAM. RAM is volatile (non-permanent) memory that is VERY fast and used to store the data for a currently running process. The user addressable space is non-volatile and is used for permanent storage of applications, contacts, photos, etc. It is not possible to use this as RAM as it is flash memory instead of using capacitors like the RAM found in cell phones (which provides the speed needed).
Some of the remaining 3 GB might be open in the future after the bootloader is unlocked and custom ROMs are flashed as they would be less memory intrusive than Sense. This might also free up some extra RAM from system use, but there is no possible way to increase it beyond 768 - whatever vanilla android requires to run.
Hello, I'm maintaining a thread with values of reserved RAM for many devices. Could someone tell me how many MB of total RAM is reported in the system? Just type free in terminal emulator or use one of the many utilities. I'm looking for total RAM, not just the available one. Thanks
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk
total usable RAM: 512 MB
system regonizeble: 345 MB aprox.
current free usable RAM: depends on your process, usually after reboot and all clear is about 100 - 200 MB aprox.
Thanks, I really hoped around 400 even the N1 had a bit more..

Thats because part of the 512mb is used for the gpu. So if 345 is used by system then 167mb is used for the gpu. Thus it looks like its little. But trust me it boosts your graphics intensive stuff.

you must first understand ANDROID's memory management
unused memory is wasted memory
As we know LGP500 has 512MB of ram and GT540 has 256MB. I've just looked to service manuals to compare and make sure that it's 100% other chip with more memory. What I've seen ?
Phones are using multi chip package (RAM+NAND memory).
But most interesting is this:
GT540 uses
K524G2GACB-A050 chip produced by Samsung. This chip has 4Gb(256Mx16)NAND Flash Memory&2Gb(64Mx32)DDR SDRAM
LGP500 uses
MT29C4G96MAZAPCJA-
5ITFBGA chip produced by Micron. This chip has also 4Gb NAND Flash and 2Gb DDR SDRAM
Pins of this chips are totaly same. Only diffrence is that GT540 doesn't uses 2nd layer (2 pins called CS1 and DCLK1
But anyway I want to ask where is that 4Gb NAND and 2Gb RAM ?????
Lol you are tryng to say our phone as 2gb of ram and 4gb nand?

As we know that p500 is armv6 phone. Maybe the processor and system architecture is not capable of addressing 2gb of ram...
I compare this numbers 4,2,512,256 and guess what:
1st : Gb means GIGABITS
so :
4Gb NAND Flash is phone memory used by data system etc and 4096/8=512MB of memory ;] (used also by kernel etc so thats why you don't have 512MB)
2Gb DDR SDRAM is RAM and 2048/8=256MB of RAM.
Thats all.
LGP500 using 2nd generation of this memory and it have 4Gb NAND and 4Gb of RAM
MSM7227 can work with 1GB ram but chip must use more addres pins, not more data pins.
