The step is very similar to install TNT lite. Instead of using the TNT lite.zip file, replace it with the vegan.5.1.zip file.
The key is make sure you get the correct version of clockworkmod.

there are updated version of clockworkmod but the one we recommend is ClockworkMod 0.8. please take a look at the first page of this thread and it includes the correct version of clockworkdmod.

Hey all got my g tab 2 weeks ago and finally got the memory card for x mas. I want to flash my g tab from stock to tnt lite. I've prob read about a hundred threads and not sure I really understand how to get tnt's new version and get the access to the full market place. That thread was what I used. Follow those instructions, using the files from that thread EXCEPT get the 3.10 file from the TnT thread. I followed those instructions, backed up, and then started to play around, and now I love my g Tablet.
just wanted to say thanks a million for pointing me in the right post. I finally got some time to flash my g tab, and it was easy to follow. Just have one question, I flashed it to tnt lite 2.2. How come I'm not getting a update notification? and since i'm not getting one, where can I go to get the updated version of tnt lite?

Updates are turned off in the custom roms. Follow the ssame instructions you already did but install this file instead

Hello all. I've Googled and read for hours and found different topics here and there, but I'm not 100% sure how or if this can even be done. I've downloaded a few roms from some Chinese site and I've even seen screen shots with the Malata Zpad UI with English writing, so I know it's out there somewhere. I would like to install this UI on my Viewsonic G Tablet. What do I have to download? And will it install the same as any other rom or is there a few extra steps I would have to take to make this happen? I've read through my searching that these are basically the same hardware wise and that the software is able to be ran on the VS, I just can't find the right directions to get this done. I know we have Zpad Clean Rom, but that doesn't have the Malata UI. Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help me.

In the Zpad thread there are some links to the most recent raw zpad images. You can flash the system image from one of those with the zpad ROM boot image or just pull the apks out of their ROM and add to zpad.

Do I setup ADB, root, then install clockworkmod, then custom rom vegantab, tnt or whatever?
I'm a total newbie to android and I just did all that last week.
I put clockwork and vegan on and then did the market fix, all following your second link. It works brilliantly.

Much thanks.. The motorola xoom will be coming out soon with honeycomb. Samsung and LG are also producing honeycomb 3.0 android tablets. do you think i should just wait? I just wonder if the g tablet is upgradeable to 3.0
I followed the 2nd link you posted paying attention to all the details and had it running with Vegan 5.1.1 in less than an hour.
yes it seems hard at first but jsut reread everything and you will be fine.

I just got my g tablet.
I want to root the device and later install a rom I was thinking on robeet`s tntlite
My question is, do I have to install first the 4.2.0. and later the 4.2.5 supplement?
Do I have to root it to attempt rom trials or can be done without rooting? anyway i was thinking to use z4 root.

Would post a link if I had my tab with me but if you look in the development section there is a thread telling you exact steps to do what you want to. It has all the links for downloads you will need.
Oh this method involves mounting and unmounting partitions instead of using a rooting tool. Its worth doing this way. I felt it taught me more about my device. Good luck and have fun!

HOWEVER... read about the available ROMS first. Check out the features and the caveats. See if Flash is already installed so you can skip a step in that instruction guide. Etc... Etc...

Edit: FYI... The current crop of custom ROM's come pre-rooted for your convenience. It's no longer a requirement to root the device first.

Mac Compatible... Oh, yes. I'm typing this from my MacBook Pro which has a VirtualBox session running linux when necessary for nvflashing ;-) Your gTablet's internal memory can be mounted on your Mac desktop via USB or it can be shared via FTP or AFP using a few free apps from the market. Best of all worlds in my opinion.

I would recommend loading CWM as well, to redo your partitions to 2,0

Did your new tablet boot up to a welcome screen with setup questions & an end user agreement or did it present you with a home screen ?

My gtab presented me with a home screen and since the beginning crash after crash! so dissapointing... inmediately picked up a new update and everything went smoothly after that, flash running, angry birds from factory presets and so on but I still wanted to moded the tab so that´s what I did.
Btw any of you guys know of a barscan app for the gtab so i can download apps faster from sites like appaware? I don´t know why but the android marketplace is not letting me install that app. Compatibility perhaps?

Also tried rooting it, no go yet. Only tried Gingerbreak and the Gingerbreak apk. Gingerbreak apk just crashed on open, and Gingerbreak via SuperOneClick just say there on "Running."

Hmm... Any idea where I would find the recovery.img for you? Or how I would compile it.
nevermind, the recovery-on-boot.p restored my stock recovery its all good
I triedflashing all of the tablet CWmod recoveries and none of them worked. E-mailed Koush to see if I can help out with make one for the thrive but I'm not really a porgrammer...

Check out thriveforums for that stuff. XDA took too long to get this board up(over a month) so development had to establish itself somewhere else.
I would like to see everything here. after awhile those indi sites just kind of dry up. not to mention it a pita.
