I've been using WiFi hotspot on my Bolt and trying to test the network for the last week, and was expecting a bit lower latency. I've been getting anywhere between 65-95ms when using hotspot tethering. I've been trying to use Cable tethering on my MacBook Pro but I don't think that's possible.
Well today I connected it to my Windows 7 partition, and omfg what a difference in latency?!!!!!

Dropped down to the 40's with the first few hops in the high 30's ms!!!! I just wish USB Tethering worked on Mac OS X.
What's been your experience in terms of latency on your TB?
How did you usb tether on windows?

Plug in your phone using the USB cable, Windows 7 will automatically ask you to install the drivers. That's it.
Which option do you select

didnt know i had to install the verizon tlbootstrap.exe
I also noticed that upload speeds have increased after USB connecting my TB. Now they are in the 6-10mbps range. Latency 40-60ms.

I have the same thing but different brand I use at uni to use my consoles online. I will try it and let you know later
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
So that means you can connect to wired network without any problem right?
Yes, you can easily connect to a LAN network. (I use a nameless Chinese USB Ethernet adapter.). You get an additional tab where you also have the WiFi one under Settings where you can select multiple options.
Can't take a screenshot at the moment though, I do not currently have a LAN network available.
I have a generic one that I used when travelling around Japan earlier this year.
You get some basic settings. IP address from dhcp or static and some sleep policy. Other than that I can't remember there being much else.
Okay this may sound silly but here it goes!!
I'm about to build a new computer, but I only have one desktop monitor . . . and it's attached to the crappy computer soon to be landfilled heh.
If I have to I can of course disconnect my huge NEC widescreen monitor and haul it over to my bench, but what would be too cool would be to rig my little tablet in some way that it displays the activity of the new computer as it takes its first boot.
Because if it doesn't boot, then I'm going to need online help from the home-built forums to troubleshoot what I've connected incorrectly. I would like to have both computers at my disposal as I am building, in other words. I have never done this before, but I have (2nd Gen. DSL) WIFI here at home and I can too easily picture me hauling my monitor back and forth NOT! lol
I saw the free Chrome app (Chrome Remote) but . . . I'm not sure that would work on a new build such as mine because I won't even have partitioned my drives let alone installed Chrome.
Any suggestions? Can this even work? Which Play Apps would I use?
Thanks guys!

BUMP! Help?
I recently upgraded both of my computers to Windows 10 and have been moving some files over to my TF700 via USB. Yesterday my computer just stopped recognizing it as a USB device.

I uninstalled the driver and tried going back in and installing it manually by selecting 'Asus Android Device' and this list popped up:
I've tried several of them and it still doesn't show up as a USB device. Any ideas? I'm confused because it was showing up fine one day and then I plugged it in the next and it won't show up.
Did you try to reboot both devices?
Try different USB ports

Yeah I've tried both of those. No clue what could have changed overnight.
Me neither. But I recently read about a guy who had to uninstall another device's sync utility to get adb/fastboot back. Maybe something along those lines?
In a pinch you can use a live Linux CD like this one: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/46090-guide-adb-fastboot-linux-live-cd.html

YES.
Android does the switching for you. If you connect to Wi-Fi, Ethernet disables. If you are already connected to Wi-Fi and you plug your Ethernet cable into the device, you need only to disable Wi-Fi (which you know how to) and Android switches automatically to Ethernet.
BTW: Most Android devices will need a USB-C-to-Ethernet adapter, while older Android devices require a micro USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
