[Q] Is the display meant to do this!?! - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First things first I'll explain my set up..
I have MIUI with theBLN kernel with voodoo colours v6 and the voodoo app.
I have used the settings described in the "Best settings for voodoo".
I have the BLN Pro app running and active..
I also have screen brightness on auto..
My battery seems to die very quick all of a sudden and on battery graph shows 47% by the screen..
After clicking on the screen usage I get:
Battery Useage 172972 uAh
Open Screen Power Useage 6868 uAh
Power Useage when screen is idle 7865 uAh
Power Useage with a dim lit screen 125883 uAh
Power Useage with a medium lit screen 50 uAh
Power Useage with a Bright lit screen 28340 uAh
Is there something I have messed up??

Are you on about the battery usage in the 'About Phone' menu? Either way I haven't seen any of the above you have mentioned relating the the battery.
I did try MIUI but took it off after 1 day - didn't like it and it did drain my battery compared to other ROMs

[Q] vodafone 858 battery usage screen problem

Hi guys,
I have a vodafone 858 (android 2.2) phone. Its battery usage screen isn't giving proper information of power consumption. It shows only these items all the time, like this >
android system 96%
cell standby 4%
phone idle 2%
It has never shown the power consumption of other things. such as display, camera etc.
How can I solve this ?
its normal. It shows you what has been using the battery more and not what is draining it.If you want rhe camera and other stuff to show up just use them and you gonna see that they will appear
@ [email protected] no dude, Its not showing when I used camera. other thing is the display, that is one of the most battery drain things of a phone, but I have never seen battery usage of the screen in battery usage screen.
Also I'm using twitter, facebook and browser all the time, but the damn battery usage screen has never shown them.
damn it..Maybe the usage indicator is non-functional.Try downloading spare parts or betterbatterystats. If you wanna reduce the screen battery drain turn off animations, the screen sensor, haptic feedback and lower brightness

What about miui battery drain???

IN my miui,
blacklight of it is gone for using the backlight killer
but there is a big problem
about the battery drain!!!
because i charge it 100%
but after 10hrs
is over 5%
OH~~!!!!
anyone have solution???
pls !!!!
(i am not to hate that)
What apps are actually running in background of your phone? I have only a 20~30% drop in battery level in ~9hr without touching my phone(wifi on).
see what the battery life is like if you turn off the killbacklight app for a day
i only open the backlight killer in background
nothings else
There's nothing you can do at the moment, unless someone fix this nasty bug.
You have to know that Android saves battery switching off your CPU while you are not using the phone (=> deep sleep). The app you are using "kills" the backlight every X seconds, that means your CPU is awakened every X seconds to execute something.
Your screen always on uses more battery than your CPU always on, I think, but it always drains the battery.
Use" ddkp3" as the bottom package will be more power, I tried

Battery tips on the surface pro

Hey guys so I know there are a few things that can improve battery life and some things that are supposed to help but may be a mith? Things as only draining battery to 10% and charging to 90% or something like this. What are tips that help? Also if you guys have changed your cpu settings that really improved the battery life let us know!
I drained my battery down to 0% after the second time I used it and it pushed my battery up from 3:30 to 5:30. I also use batterybar to see the stats and whatnot. Another thing you can do is go into power options in the Control Panel and change the plan settings > advance power settings. I usually change the Processor power management settings and the Intel Graphics Settings.

do you ever charge it to 100%
Does leaving it on the charger like when playing a game or something matter? Does it stop charging once it reaches 100
AFAIK, leaving it on the charger shouldn't matter. It's a smart charger. I always charge it to 100%, but never go lower than 10%. I try to recharge around 15%.
Best thing I've done is disable my bluetooth since I have no devices that use it.
Second is lower the brightness while on battery.
I'm getting around 5:30 of battery life doing things like browsing, email, news reading, and using Autodesk Sketchbook Design.
Disable automatic brightness. Change the screen timeout to the lowest value that works for you. Turn off BT. Turn off live tiles and notifications for apps you don't need to update on your main screen and lock screen. Run the troubleshooter for power and see if you can deal with what it changes.

Screen Sucking Battery VRBMF1

Since upgrading, my batter life sucks. The battery meter shows the culprit to be the screen. Before it was Media Center or my game. Today im showing 80% usage by my screen.
I have power saving mode set for the screen, and I use auto adjust so it stays relatively dim most of the time.
Any suggestions?

Have you been using your phone a lot today? What is the screen-on time?

how much battery does AOD use with just home button ?

i have the always on display set with just the home button showing....as i'm still getting used to finding the spot its in when the screen is off....and coming from a note 4 its what i always go to......but as i have a complete black wallpaper with only the home button showing on the lock screen....how much battery would that use ?
also...is there a way to have to use less pressure when pressing the home symbol to turn screen on ?
thanks in advance for any replies.
Setting/display/navigation bar and at the bottom is the slider to control home button pressure sensitivity. Don't know about the other question though sorry.
AOD battery use is negligible. If you're worrying about battery drain, then you shouldn't. Even if you used the full AOD features (time and date widget etc) you're only looking at 1-2% extra usage throughout the day. The home button alone would be using even less by that logic.
Also I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the lockscreen background. You can use any wallpaper you want and it will still look the same with AOD. Amoled screens can selectively turn on just the specific pixels it needs to display your home button and/or information while the rest of your screen is actually physically off so it will be black regardless.
right..thanks.....wasnt sure if always on display had an option to have a wallpaper too.......new to the phone
thank you.
My pleasure.
Enjoy your new phone bud.

Thats not entirely accurate, its more like 1% an hour.
Because of some burnin protections the AOD will wake yoir device few times every minute so it will consume more battery.

When I turn on AOD, my overnight standby battery drain is 22% (100% to 78%)
When I turn it off, my overnight standby battery drain is 2% (100% to 98%)
It might not be that much but that's the result of my most recent test.
