Adobe flash player on Eclair? - Defy Android Development

Hello, I just tried the files here:
http://www.file-extensions.org/article/how-to-install-flash-player-to-android-eclair
But it did not work, is there any chance that I can watch flash content on the phone using Eclair? thanks!

Hello,
You can install it properly but your browser won't be able to make a link between browsing and flash since proper extensions are missing.
You should go to a 2.2 rom which will bring you speed, fluidity and flash and jit (natively) and more...
Best regards,
Kribou

I cannot find it on the market, I'm looking with "Adobe flash player" on the search box, but nothing shows up :/

try this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=549019&d=1300810806

I installed it and it created a shortcut on the main menu where I can download another installer which is like 5 mb but when I try to install this one it tells that there's a problem analizing the file, is there anything I can do? Thanks!

ok there must be some problem in my file try the version in the post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=975390&page=5

I guess the problem it's me, tried again with the version in the post you mentioned, which is honeycomb_install_flash_player 10.2.155.67 but it did not work either :/ same message, any suggestion? thanks!

If I understood right this is just a patch, not the full ROM.
(Update: No you can’t, my bad. That is a patch zip, not a full. BUT .. I’m working on fixing that. I got my hands on a system dump and built an update.zip for you guys.)
The download was over 30mb and does appear to be the full rom. There is another update on the blog, which is smaller and is to be applied after the full rom. I applied the full update and my phone is showing itself as an ION

I just applied this too, on top of Haykuro's 6.0. I had to do a factory reset afterwards as the onscreen keyboard wasn't working.
This has added:
Voice Dialer
Voice Search
Amazon MP3
and probably other stuff that wasn't on the Vodafone Magic before.
Still no Exchange ActiveSync
I have the same exchange issue. Using touchdown right now which is working very well.
Rom is really FAST..!!
did you "wipe" before install the update?are you still having root now?
i just update to ion but now cannot sign in to google to sync.
i am on vodafone.

I've managed to install Google ION on my magic, avoiding to replace "recovery.img" deleting it in the zip file and resigning the file using this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
once I've renamed the zip file in "update.zip" I've used the recovery and all ok
- the boot is faster, as in the vodafone version of the firmware
- there is voice call and voice search
- root using "su" command from shell
bye

Does seem faster.
I have to say, I prefer not having multi-touch brower. The zoom is so slow on the multi-touch-esque browser that's it's better to have no accidental zoom when you want to pan instead.

PD: thx to Haykuro for "cooking" all rom's!!!
Haykuro you are a beautiful person I will be a first time android user when I get my Ion next week, super excited about it!
Do google adp phones come pre-rooted, or is that something you still need to do. I understand that the bootloader allows for unsigned roms, so it wouldn't an issue to change it up. I was just curious if this vanilla rooted ion rom you are releasing would be appropriate, or does it have changes that make it work on standard sapphires?
Thanks again!
hello
must my magic be rooted to intall de ion rom?

[APP-HACK][SENSE] No text reflow on pinch-to-zoom in browser

hate the text reflow on pinch-to-zoom in the htc stock browser?
found the hidden setting (about:debug, menu - more - settings - enable gep zoom), but it doesn't persist across reboots / full browser restarts?
this hack is for you
changes:
setting persists, you don't have to always go into debug mode to re-enable it
browser defaults to no reflow
double-tap-to-zoom is unaffected by this
requirements:
htc sense based desire (froyo) rom
deodexed framework libs/system apps
how to install:
please make sure your device/setup meets the requirements above
check your framework build number (settings >> about phone >> software information >> build number)
download the archive (zip) that matches your build number
copy it to your sdcard and flash it in recovery mode (as always, it is advisable to do a nandroid backup prior flashing)
enjoy

Nice work!
Have been looking for this for a long time since I hate the text reflow in the browser that cause the position of the web page shift unexpectedly after zoom in.
Would like to know if it is possible to make a generic patch for all rom version?
Thanks!
It jumps less unexpectedly if you let the page load completely before zooming in.

i haven't looked if there are differences in the code of the browser across froyo builds yet, but even if there were, modifiying the patch in the second post shoudn't be a problem
i'm off to germany today, should be back on thursday - i'll look into it then
I personally have long awaited for a such mod
snq- for the win !
Whao! I was wondering why my Youtube video count went up suddenly.
Thanks for the embed snq I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate your mod (I don't have an Evo anymore so I can't try for myself unfortunately)
I don't get it, when I used OpenDesire which is without Sense i still got pinch-to-zoom text reflow, was it using the sense browser or does normal browser got this as well?

I see in your signature that your are using OD , which is an AOSP rom , not with HTC SENSE...why would you try a htc sense hack on a rom that has no htc sense ,beats me..Its normal to get trouble.
If you manage to get a browser session up type in the adress bar
"about:debug" without the quotes and enter it.
then try going to settings and find in the new options menu Enable GEP zoom..
Tell us if unticking this makes any difference..
I strongly advise you read before you flash anything..
Iwasant see that hack is for sence ROM,only
but Nandrid & all is back..hire all is experimental,or I`m wrong
How can I use this patch please ? Do I flash the .7z as a .zip, or just the .patch as a .zip ?
Thanks for helping.
just use rom manager to flash the .zip from the first post
i correctly flashed this file TWO times and it doesn't remember the setting between reboot, any idea?
Does this work with the Evo, specifically Fresh 3.3 which is a sense froyo rom?

Did anyone try this in an European Defy?

Before i try to install this i have a few questions. Is it possible to return to the Original Version of android that came installed on my phone, if yes how do i do this and secondly do i have to use recovery to install this?
I did it with a German Defy @ uk rom 2.51 tested rooted and the handler has rom some bugs, youtube does not play videos, music + video player not working, no email app (only the gmail is integrated) umts does not work out for all users Android-help forum.
but it is super fast, would be fun without the bugs
greet fighterchris
btw:
is jit compiler integrated, or is the compiler being updated for that stock rom?

flash this via rsd lite and it should work: 2.51boot.zip
i had a 2.51 the flashed this rom and then the file above and problems gone.
this is the best rom because i have root acces over adb with this so i can use android commander todo any thing. thanks handler
I'm trying to flash this rom and am having issues with moving it into the correct folder. I have droid explorer on my comp and am trying to get into the backup folder but it keeps saying it's an invalid file path.
It never asked me for superuser permission for my computer is there a way for me to change that? I think the computer doesn't have permission.

Hi,
I just installed the rom on my UK T-Mobile Moto Defy, and with the exception of the missing email app, everything so far seems to be working absolutely fine.
Quadrant scores:
1103 (std / no overclock)
1323 (Milestone overclock at 1200mhz)
Andy
i was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how/if i can restore the original t-mobile (UK) firmware if i need to return the phone or if this ROM doesnt run correctly?

I personally would be very wary of downloading this. you guys might want to read the article I've linked below, first! BTW if you want flash player go to Adobe's website and get it from them. It's still available, so there is no reason to download a random apk. http://phandroid.com/2012/08/25/wat...layer-installers-download-from-adobe-instead/

Great but no widgets page?
Hi, wanted to say thanks, installation was a breeze (with TWRP 2.8.0.1, starting from 2.5 on stock 4.2). My first Andorid modding ever...
System appears to be very fast but... no widget section on apps page. Tried wiping cache and Dalvik cache, no luck.
I discovered that after installing PPP widget, I can't find it. (By the way, is PPP the only way to use a 3G stick on this tablet?)
Then tried with other apps: i can't find the widgets to be dragged on the home screen.
Thanks again. :good:

To add a widget you just need to long push on the desktop.
Then you will see a widget icon on the bottom, just click on it.
And yep ppp widget is needed for 3g connection.

Chrome window problem?
I flashed your rom a few days ago and so far I'm loving it! But theres one little bug...
I have Chrome installed, and after launching it in floating window mode, I can't get it to launch back into normal mode! All my other apps switch just fine, but if I try to switch in Chrome it just relaunches in windowed mode again. I tapped the nav button, closed it using both the X and sliding it away in recents, force stopped, cleared data and cache, and still nothing! Is there a way to reset it?
*EDIT* Never mind, I just flashed version 36 over it and it's all normal now! Sorry ^^;

Hey, I'm a bit of an dumbass when it comes to these things. If I want to update, do I need to wipe everything and flash it from scratch like if I was installing another ROM or is there any way to simply update it without having to start from zero?

Thanks. Just to make sure, if I want to update to the latest r36 and currently have r34, do I just flash r36 or do I need to flash r35 and only then r36? Also do I need to wipe dalvik cache or something or just simply flash the ROM and that's it? And what about the GApps, I assume I don't need to flash them again, right? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure of what I'm doing. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Also, this is unrelated, but how do I know which version of the latest TWRP to download? There are 3 versions on their website and it's not really clear: it says to download one of them if I'm on the 4.1 official update or another one if I'm on the 4.2 official update...I don't remember when I last got an official update from ASUS, I've been rooted and using different ROMs for a long time. Currently using KatKiss (4.4.4) so I'm not sure what version of TWRP to download...
