Please dont ask if you can dirty flash. You can do what you want. Make a nandroid BEFORE you flash, if it doesnt work out then just restore your nandroid and re-plot your method of flashing.
Please dont post anything other than this ROM specific related questions. This is not a general topic thread about KitKat. Its here to help users install the ROM and ask questions about ROM usage. Its not here to ask questions about other ROM's, getting OTA's or what you think Recovery is capable of. Go to General with that stuff.

I dont use Edify defs. I hand write my updater scripts. Nothing to share.

Because odex is better, more efficient so you get a smoother feel.
De-Dodex is not as smooth as odex. Some devices you can see this better in. This device is pretty close. But if you want the best then you go Odex.

If your coming from another stock based ROM a wipe would not be needed.
If your coming from something like PA or CM then I would wipe because I dont know s**t about those ROMS

I think I found a bug in Googles code...
If you look real closely at that WiFi Icon in the status bar, the arrows dont show up when data is going in and out.
Is it just my old eyes or can anyone confirm?

I just stated 5 posts ago if you coming from a stock base it would more than likely be fine.
You guys know how to make Nandroids, right? Back ups?
Its always best to do that, test what you want, if it doesnt work out, then restore your nandroid and you have lost nothing.

I don't think that is a bug. It was mentioned as a "feature", along with the GPS not blinking anymore when searching.
The arrows got moved into the drag down status bar.
They seem to not really want you to know what is going on and whether you are online, when data is being sent/received, whether GPS is running, etc.

Ok folks, the OP requested a thread cleaning.
So here's how it goes....
1) Thanks - Deleted as you have a "Thanks" button. Use it please. No reason creating a new post.
2) Slow downloads - This can happen anywhere. Try at a different time. No reason creating a new post.
3) Dirty Flash - Com'on folks, you take your chances when you dirty flash. For best results, always wipe.
Now, the above posts have been cleaned. I HAVE however, left some of the OP's replies so a touch of info has been saved.
Please, look at the info above, and in the OP BEFORE you post. The Rom is Stock, so there really shouldn't be a whole lot of questions, and most of those belong in the Q & A Forum.

There is no OTA. You'll have to manually download the zip and flash it via recovery.

As long as it's the same rom and op doesn't say you have to wipe then no you don't have to wipe. Just flash and forget.

This is so much more fluid than CM builds (to me). It is fairly close to CM with AK's kernel installed. Video recording is not working on the 11/17 build for those asking.

Is there a setting to enable nav bars?

What about soft-buttons? Are they working in this build, without modifying with textedit?

i have installed CM12!! with AK kernel!
working perfectly on multirom!! you only must install as primary ROM and then SWAG the rom to secondary!!!

I've two minor issues in last build (2014-11-17)
The issues:
- Automatic time zone update is always set to +1 GMT every time.
- "CLOSE ALL RECENTE" also close the system UI, restarting it.
The battery percentage is not displayed.

nope, it cant be ported, other roms can use my commits to make it the same if they want... but port wont work

no, you will have to check the thread for news. now in the active development period there will be probably more release per week.. then when it settles it will be about weekly or biweekly

This may be wrong, but when i had this running, the sound pack it had included seemed different than that of lollipop? If so, is there a zip of it somewhere? Ended up going back to 4.4.4 at the moment. Need the battery life ATM.

it should be the same as cm12, maybe different defaults.... all files are in the rom zip

Thank you!! it worked. I installed yahoo weather app and used it a widget. Then refreshed the status bar wether, them rebooted it. It worked.

internal storage not showing up
So this is the only lollipop rom i really like so far since it removes carrier provisioning for tethering. And im a tether heavy user. But with the latest update after i flashed it and booted up the rom the internal storage showed up empty. So i thought i had accidently erased my internal storage. But i flashed a different lollipop rom and lo and behold all my internal storage popped back up. It never did get wiped idk what happened. I tried flashing this rom 3 more times with a complete wipe and i get same results no internal storage.

its yet unknown why this happens, solution is in the thread if u search for relink sdcard.
it would be cool if people provide more info on their setup... as it never happened to me yet and i flash like 15 times per week probably.

I guees 4th times a charm. I tried flashing it again and this time everything worked out just fine. Didn't do anything different didn't redownload the rom...... Weird. Love the rom tho!

thanks for this bad-ass rom however i've just clean-flashed the 12/24 build and the signal icon now has an exclamation point which wasn't there on the 12/23 build. is there a setting i need to tweak?

use philz, it worked for me since it can detect both gpe partition and normal (f2fs) partition

get the one under "falcon" folder, here's the Direct Link\
you're better off flashing the img file via the fastboot, rather than using the zip file via recovery, since your recovery can't detect the correct disk formatting.

does anybody else having problem with the default music player not playing nice with poweramp?
i've got a force close on the audiofx once, and the music player stopped working, not even rebooting help.

i'm using the 14/2 build, with gapps "gapps-lp-20150211-signed" i didn't even realise there's a new build that you uploaded
it might be almost the same problem as that one guy posted in the first page of the main thread, but i'm not really sure. also, i've restored my apps from a previous backup via titanium backup. should i try a clean flash without restoring those backup? i think my other music related app is the one causing it, seeing that there's nobody else that got this problem. oh yeah, and also i can't make any phone call at all when it happened. it seems like the audio part of my moto g got screwed up
(edit) i forgot, thanks for the absolutely good rom! i'm really comfortable with this rom that it might be the only custom rom that i use as a daily driver on my moto g

Well, it should be working, and it should be fine to use Titanium Backup. Let's see if you have the same problem with the next build...

(edit) might be a problem with the media storage device, some folks at the cm12 stock player (eleven) is having those issues too
(edit2) it's the eleven (the stock music player) as per this link has led me to believe that somehow, on some configuration of rom, the eleven corrupts the media storage. if i just use poweramp to scan and play music, everything's A-OK. (the audiofx doesn't work with poweramp though :| )
(edit3) again, i'm dumb. i'll be using my poweramp since i've found out that i can use the audiofx, the menu is just hidden in the setting. might need to do further research on the eleven music player, removing it temporarily.
(edit4) i'll report back with a logcat as soon as i've had my hands on an able computer
aaandd.... as soon i installed catlog the problem resolved by itself... i'm trying to reproduce the problem right now, might have something to do with the usb otg and it's music content that the media storage mistakenly scan as items that needed to be added to the media library
(edit 5) it crashed again today (18/02) without me even doing anything. the logcat is in the attachment. it seems that it tries to find /storage/sdcard1 and fails because it is an empty folder, and i don't know why it's there, can i delete it?
oh yeah, after i won't be posting anything further about this problem since it's clearly the eleven's fault, not connected with the rom itself

yes you can go back...unless u have the official ota update to lollipop in that case ur bootloder will be upgraded n u will not be able to go to kitkat easily....
since u are on kitkat..u can flash lolli rom n revert back to kk ...i did the same..

Dim flashlight
Awesome ROM! Hatts off to you. Its buttery smooth. But m having a problem with the flashlight Its very dim. Not as bright as it was before. But it is bright when clicking photos (i mean in camera) plz help me.

Please include in the next issue of the function of answering a call by pressing the volume, if not difficult.

Successful upgrade
On an XT1034 (1st Gen Moto G from Wind Mobile in Canada) I just upgraded from MIUI Kitkat 4.4.4 successfully.
I had an issue with my bootloader being version 41.13 while flashing. Naturally the process was aborted during flashing. To fix this I downloaded a new motoboot.img from the second url in this link, and flashed it with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar version-bootloader
Everything works great so far. The UI is snappy and I haven't had any errors. Thanks!

If I only want to upgrade to the latest update could just flash and wipe wipe Dalvik cache and cache without having to make the full wipe ?

Is there a github link for this ROM? I'd like to follow the changes and updates.

no need to do a full wipe if upgrading, just make sure to reflash gapps

Hey Niropa, I'm having a few issues with 20150611-2107's build.
1) Pie Controls: When I go to add buttons for the pie control, I might click the add button at the top of the screen and the list of controls to add is empty. Alternatively, I try to click an already added button to change it, and the list that pops up is empty. If I remove a button by swiping it off screen, It doesn't add the action to the list. This is the case for both the first level and second level pie buttons.
2) Notification Drawer: (I was having this issue before 0611's build) I have the setting in the Carbon Fibres settings to display 7 icons in the notification drawer. In my actual notification drawer only 4 icons are listed. If I try to scroll side to side or up and down on the icons, nothing happens. I'm not sure about how the actual functionality for this feature is supposed to work.
3) Power Save Notification Drawer Icon: I have this icon displayed in my notification drawer, and in this latest build the icon always displays as enabled and does not toggle power save mode. It just doesn't work.
Also, when I create a screenrecord, where does it go? I looked around in my filesystem and couldn't find the files.

Hi I am using this release:
CARBON-LP-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150611-2107-falcon
It was working fine and then once I restarted my phone after some days, it started optimizing apps and kept on restarting after that. Had to factory reset to make it work.
Also the dialer sometimes does nothing when I click on a contact name to call them and I have to restart the device.
Are these things fixed in the latest build ??

Hey, that's weird. If you don't use dual sim try the latest build and see if its fixed

Any update on a new upload. Latest build gave me endless systemui fc. I know this was reported in the ROM thread, just wondering if issue has been resolved.

I have the same issue on my xt1008..I'm very sad, because I love this rom..is the first rom that I've tried when bougth my phone..
