The Dev wants you all to remove it. Just got a tweet from him.

Glad I bought mine the other day. Not trying to be high and mighty, just glad. I think it is always best to get things legit, but right now even more so with the things going on with the apps over at apple (trying to lock devs in so they con not port apps from over there to over here). This app is android specific, but just keeping the android market healthy so that it is more attractive for devs, so we get better apps is always a good thing. Also the apps are stupid cheap, so it is kinda hard to say you do not have that money with the expensive phone you are using.
I responded in other thread, moving this to apps section. Check out my post in other section. If there is clear evidence that rom users are using the paid app and not the app supplied here on xda by developer let me know and I will take care of it.

It matters because he's asked ROM devs to remove it. It's in the market thus it is a paid app.

? If the devs are using the same apk that he provides for the members then their shouldn't be a problem.
If anything you're stirring something up and for what?
If it bothers him, he can contact a moderator.

Whether they use the same APK or not has no bearing on the fact that the owner/creator is requesting it to be removed from the roms with a valid explanation, and that's the ONLY thing that matters... Is it so hard to link to the setcpu thread in a rom thread and give the guy the credit he deserves and the possibility of making a measly $2 for his hard work if someone chooses to donate and not just download?
god forbid someone feels abused and changes a service nobody is entitled to, to begin with, how selfish of him... Sheesh

Well said.
The issue is this: The dev wants people to make a choice of whether or not to buy the donate version in the market. If the free version is included in /system/app (Read only partition!!) in a ROM, then the choice of "do i donate or not?" is eliminated. I don't think it's too much to ask.

Edit I didn't notice how many errors i had when trying to use the 8pen keyboard To type my post i think i will just stick to swype its much easier
Wow...the level of hypocrisy on XDA is just astounding. You have people playing the warez police (some of them moderators, some not) in every thread when someone even asks about an app but none of them mention anything about the "tweaks" and "fixes" to get tethering for free which is flat out ripping off the mobile providers (not that I'm crying for Verizon, AT&T, Sprint etc). I get that they have to cover their asses and distributing warez on XDA is not a road they ought to go down, but to **** a brick when somebody links to an article that links to yet another site where an app may be located is just asinine, especially while deliberately overlooking things like unlocking free tethering which is basically theft of service.
Back on topic, I kind of see this as counter-intuitive. As said before, Swype makes more sense because it improves on something we already know how to use vastly. This is like reinventing the wheel. Almost literally.
Everyone referring to warez and hypocrisy, please sh.
Anyway, I kinda agree with yall. The way it works is simple enough, and it doesn't take as long as you'd think to learn where the keys are. Just like swype, it takes time to get used to. Literally with ten minutes I've got it down, just by typing the same couple of words over and over again. The key behind this is that it becomes a muscle memory process of thoughts to words, without the middle ground of a keyboard layout.
I'm still the world's biggest advocate for swype, but I'll sure give this a chance.
Its just a 1.50
Cmon ...
good post!
really awkward at first but really cool! ill probably make this my new default keyboard after it starts to get second naturey
just wish you could go between the regular ordered layout like in the beginning of the demo vid and the enhanced layout it actually has

Wow... I don't see any problem with posting this, but for real... why the heck do you type like that? I'd rather not read another post of yours formatted in such a way. It's not clever, and it doesn't make you look smart.
I do have to say one thing though. Anyone can make a list of programs, to provide people with something useful however.. that is another task. You give no information about these programs, you give no reference to the authors of these programs, you give no information about where to legitimately acquire these programs.. I would also doubt that all of these vendors want you distributing their software without permissions, even if they are available for free.
If you want people to view your posting as helpful, you may want to reconsider your approach. Format your text in a helpful and organized method (it's not a headline, or a title to a book). Include helpful and concise information about the applications. Provide links (at the very least) to the webpages associated with the applications. etc.

you posted a lot of things here, and the way your OP makes it sound is that these apps (or "Market Alternatives" as you call them), offer apps that you cannot get on the android market. Is this correct? Or are these, in fact, just another place to get the same apps that are on the Android Market??
Let's ask this different; Have you tried some of the alternative markets? And did you stick to anyone of them?
I totally agree there are a lot of things that could be improved in the stock market, but I'm not going to try all the versions you've posted Can we cross some of the list?

Regarding SK4G, there's not much left to do except fix a few bugs in the latest version (pertaining to new tweaks, **** happens right?) Then, after get a battery mod, maybe build in supercharger values and then? My works done, nothing left to do. If you have ideas I'm capable of doing, bring them up here and Ill let you know if I can do it. Otherwise, in a month I may be moving to a new phone to pick up work there and become more advanced.

Wrong section btw.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
It has to do with development of the SK4G. I, think people have a right to know after developing something and using it, where the device stands. You no longer have a sidekick, so at the moment Im the last remaining dev, and while I'm trying not to leave people in the dark, I'm not even a good developer. Hell, I'm not even a developer at all. I just grouped things together. So, I won't be on XDA anymore, so I don't care if this is wrong section or not. I did my good deed and did my best to develop a ROM. Enjoy it all, remember stick to 3.7. Peace!

thanks for the work and trying to make our phone as good as possible, but unfortunately this phone is far from savable. its quite sad, really. i'm going to Tmobile today to see what they can do about getting me a different phone, this is simply unacceptable how it behaves even with a custom ROM installed.
Let me know what they say about getting a new phone, I've been trying the same thing
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
same bull****, that they can only replace it with another sidekick. i was like, really?
they said the only thing i could do was add a line and then just switch phones. bogus. the rep at the store knew damn well the problem that the Sidekick was, so Tmobile is VERY aware of the problem they have/had with this phone and its software. worst come to worst, i'll threaten a class action lawsuit, since i know theres a lot of people who would be interested given the pages and pages of complaints about this phone on its tmobile.com support page forum.
i just want a similar phone, not even one thats necessarily better, just one that works better. like the LG Mytouch or something. anything with 4g thats similar and Android.
ok i wanna look into this, i might take a new one just to have a fresh phone but no this isnt acceptable, im working on a rom right now maybe it will work better after i work the kinks out

Hey all,
The first Mecha Centre thread is long gone in the list of posts from the past, and I keep reading in the forums that people can't find certain files, and in some cases, some Good Samaritan will upload the file to their Dropbox for them.
In virtually all cases, the files people needed we have on Mecha Centre, and we've been working to make a post like this into a sticky so that newcomers will know about it, however efforts thus far have been unsuccessful.
We don't charge money to use our site, we don't even ask for donations. We believe that if you're willing to donate to us, you should donate to a developer instead. Otherwise, all we have is one ad on the homepage, and that's probably all there ever will be. Furthermore, we've managed to bring site expenses down to zero, so this site will live on as long as people need it- we hate 404s at least as much as you do!
So for you newcomers, Mecha Centre is your one-stop for all the files you need for your Thunderbolt! RUUs, Kernels (in the works), ROMs, recoveries, Google Apps, you name it, and we live off of your suggestions.
If only to not let this hard work go to waste, please, take advantage of what we're offering! Okay, no, we aren't trying to eat your brains, we just want to give back to the community and contribute to Android development, and we feel we've done so if people use our site as a promotion to Android.
It's not like we don't get plenty of visitors, but I know there's more of you out there, and I know a lot of you could really benefit from our site, hell I find myself using it often for obtaining file when I'm away from my computer.
We'd appreciate a mod sticking this, otherwise think of this as a refresher to the newcomers and those who may have forgotten we exist!

So more of a C++ kinda guy? Tools like that just execute command prompt/terminal commands for the novice user while conveniently coming pre-packaged with SDK essentials such as adb and fastboot, saving the novice even more time... right?
Still, it's a valuable contribution, more so than Mecha Centre imo, of which I hope to get an app out for one of these days....So thanks for that!
