I just spotted this video about modding the n1 so that it can be charged with touchstone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZXxpJxWJ9s
but I'm a complete noob in modding hardware
can anyone post a detailed tutorial on this modding?
That's a cool alternative to a dock. In the description of the vid he describes a little about the process and give some pics. It seems with a little bit of courage this could be accomplished.
Sent from my Nexus One.
Very good accessory.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an unboxing movie.... or list the box contence.
Mine is coming on Monday but I just can’t wait.
To be entirely honest I still can't believe that "apparently many people SAY" they have one and yet I can't find an unboxing video for it.
http://www.msmobilenews.com/windows-mobile/reviews/htc-touch-cruise-review.html
There seems to be an unboxing but this (I’m hoping) is the demo pre-release version I’m guessing the massive tell - tell sign being the hole on the back.
I've recorded my box on video. It's being processed by YouTube right now, title "HTC Touch Cruise Unboxing". It was taken with my own TC, two things to note: it's obviously the unboxing "preview" you wanted, and you can also see the awful frame rate on this thing...
Oh yeah, never mind what I'm saying, just blabbering
It’s alright mate, thanks. its much appreciated.
btw can you quickly list the contense of the actually retail unboxing? And if possible the link to your you tube video?
Thank you.
YouTube video just in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuM_-yalUpo
It's actually just a preview of the box, not so much to see.
Contents:
The HTC Touch Cruise itself
Good manual
Screen protector
Small pouch + extra stylus
Battery
Charger
USB Cable
2 CD's (1 for extra software like TomTom, 1 for drivers and Windows moblie and such (I guess, didn't check really))
Quick Start guide
Some extra flyers (some from HTC, TomTom, local resellers)
I think that pretty much sums it up
Ok cool, thank you so much. if u were a woman and in front of me I would have no problems in hugging you with glee lol.
I was really just hooked about the case, well more like slightly worried as all the other touch devices have a case of some sort.
Anyway if it is not too much trouble is the case like the one from the first touch or the one from the touch dual.
Once again, Thank you.
I’ve just seen it. Thank you so much it was only 44 seconds but now I REALLY can't wait until Monday.
I have no clue whether it resembles the Touch (Dual) boxes.
You're welcome, and I'm NOT a woman, so a pat on the shoulder should suffice
I understand how it feels having to wait for the ultimate package Been there lately
Trust me, it's worth waiting for, especially if HTC is going to release the GPU drivers, then the speed thing would be solved too...
lol well a pat it is then...
ive had to put up with the eten glofiish x800 it s was OK and that about it. good screen.
i meant case as in its protective pouch btw but ive seen a few pics now. unless the one i saw was an after market one.
anyway thank you so much you've provided a real service
really have made my day
once again thanks.
You're welcome. The pouch is nothing compared to what you see online, its just a bag with a strap at the top to close it, like a garbage bag, but then smaller, containing your TC and in soft tissue
Sorry to hear bout the X800, I wonder where everyone gets the money to buy *multiple* pda's... (and phone and gps i know )
Meh. Well the x800 was a bit on an experiment for the IT department I work in. unheard of going for something so untested but someone has got to test it. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes that made them say "I want my employees to work with sheer crap" but it happened, anyway I'm giving it back soon, like I said it was ok, a bit like paper, you use it every day but you never truly take any notice of it.
Ye as I suspected the one I saw was an aftermarket one, looks like HTC just took it off the touch dual. It’s slightly disappointing I was looking to have a rubberized case like the one from the touch.
Yeah, unfortunately, the TC comes shipped with a very limited set of accesoiries, in contrast with previous devices, for that price!!

You’re absolutely right and it’s appalling.
I know it’s a really good device but I still feel like for my money there should be more production value.
Oh and Tracy and matt's blog has now got an unboxing of the pre-release version... it seems funny that it only comes out now as people are receiving their devices.
Just seen & played with a Touchstone charging dock at work & my god I'm in love! If your not sure what the touch stone is here is the link: http://www.palm.com/us/products/accessories/touchstone-technology.html
Does anyone know if there is anything like this for the DesireZ/G2? Or any Android device? Very tempted to get a Plam Pre just for this! Haha

The touchstone is the same concept as the Powermat, Duracell charging mats.
I dont think you're in luck, the pre has a special inductive back, it has been done on the Evo previously, but the G2 is metal, that may hinder it, also some constructive modding may need to take place in order for it to function
My understanding is that inductive charging requires both a custom battery and a custom back for the phone. So, the Powermat Evo system includes the battery, backplate, and the charging mat, which is why they're somewhat expensive.
So if the G2/DZ becomes popular enough, I'm sure somebody will make a version that supports it. And once they do, I'll definitely be buying one.
Thought it might be a shot in the dark! Looks like ill have to wait & see then
Technically speaking you can mod the back of the Desire Z, it will require some soldering though. It's been done with the Vibrant.

Well, now we just need someone brave enough to crack their G2 open and give it a whirl! Honestly it looks easy enough (theoretically)
I was wondering if someone could post a video of a stylus being used on the TF700 for drawing and writing. I couldn't find any good videos and would love a demonstration and possibly comparison to the TF201.
I am planning on buying a new tablet as my TF201 had many problems in addition to the terrible digitizer and I want to use it for notes in college. Currently deciding between TF700 and Galaxy Note 10.1 once some reviews come out. Only problem is I would like decent handwriting and a keyboard so this is a big player in my decision.
Any help is appreciated!
Can't compare it to the TF201 since I've never used it, but here's a very brief demo I threw together:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsqcDM02lKU
My general experience is that how well a device draws is as much a function of the stylus as the device itself. I'm using this:

It's the best I've ever used, and pretty cheap too.

Can I ask what app that was? Looks pretty neat.

Awesome, thank you so much. It looks much more accurate and responsive than the TF201 was. I couldn't even draw a circle on it without there being flat parts around the edges.
I already have the "New Trent Limir" stylus which I assume has the same tip or a very similar one to the one you used so I should be good there.
I'm using the Adonis Jot Flip, works so much better with the Infinity vs. my old Prime, both in responsiveness (from touch to registration of touch) and accuracy (I notate in cursive, in rather small handwriting).

It's called "Paint Joy", and it's free.

If you want a stylus for any real sketching...and dont want to go with the samsung note line of devices....then pick the adonit jot stylus. You can buy directly from them or on amazon, or possibly elsewhere. Awesome stylus. Great customer service. The stylus comes with one tip, and I broke it. I was putting it on in the wrong way and broke it, completely my fault, and they sent me two free replacements for the one that I broke. No cost to me. So I get *two* for the *one* that *I* broke. Good service, if you ask me.
Not to mention I have tried many stylus devices, and never found one I liked until this one.
Also, android police have a great review between the tf201, tf300, and tf700
In part of that review they did a small spot on the drawing.
"Since a few people vented to me that digitizer performance was sorely underappreciated in tablets, I ran a simple "test" using Sketchbook Mobile and a capacitive stylus: draw an X from corner to corner, write the name of the tablet, and maybe doodle a little. The results more or less speak for themselves, but in a nutshell: Prime is crap, TF300 is good, and TF700 is fantastic."

I'm still waiting on my hand stylus. If it doesn't work, I will probably end up giving it to one of my friends and getting a JOT. I want something I can write with to take notes and not have to carry a pad of paper with me.

Thanks for the article! Wow, the TF700 does look great compared to the prime. I'm having a hard time waiting for Note 10.1 reviews so I might just spring for the TF700.
The Jot looks great also, I have heard a lot of good things about it. Probably a worthy investment for my purposes.
Hey guys, I have appreciated the video reviews posted here so I thought I would do one myself. This video review is for the New Trent Bluetooth Keyboard with touch pad. Here is a link to the video review

And here is a link to the product on Amazon

My full written review is there as well. In short, its the best wireless keyboard I have used. Definitely worth the asking price of $55. Its meant for a 10 inch tablet, so it may not be what you are looking for though.
This is my first YouTube video, so there is much room for improvement. I plan on continuing to review various android hardware and accessories should you wish to subscribe. Let me know if you have ideas!
Hello to all, I'm new to the site and a little bit experienced with Linux. I've recently been gifted the moto z from my other half and was really excited to see what different mods people made with the makers (mdk moto mod) attachment. Inb4 try Google and I've already checked xda, although I may have missed a thread on the topic. But I don't see anyone trying the $15 perforated board, I know I'm gonna give it a swing. The phone had been out for a year at the time this post was made. To get the ball rolling, I'm gonna see of I can do something different maybe cheaper than the jbl speakers. Something involved with a 3d printer and little magnets. I've known of this site for years, so why don't the genius hackers/modders of xda try this too, if possible?
Hey bud. I'm not great with programming or 3D printing but I have some experience with DIY electronics (I've been building studio microphones, preamps and compressors for years).
I've been pretty keen to put together a headphone amp with some nice opamps or possibly a wireless charging circuit.
I'll post here if I get around to it.
