[Q] Just rooted Sprint Hero... - General Questions and Answers

I just rooted my CDMA Hero (thanks to RegawMOD's awesomeness ) and it asked me to update OTA after it restarted & got setup. I was just wondering if I can update w/o losing the root privileges that I just got.
Also, I was wondering if anyone had a link to what sys apps are safe to remove from a Sprint Hero...
Thanks in advance

Questions about rooting and unrooting

Hi.
Couple days ago I got my first Android device - HTC Desire.
Since I rooted my phone hoping that I'll be able to install apps on SD card, and find out that feature is actually expected to be part of Froyo - now I have couple questions about rooting and unrooting.
1. is there a way - other than unrooting phone - to install official HTC 2.2 update when it will be available?
2. will I be able to install new firmwares to rooted phone?
3. If there is the way to update rooted phone, is there a way to "move" installed apps from internal memory to SD card?
4. If I need to unroot the phone, how will I know which RUU should I apply?
I bought mine Desire unlocked at TELE2 carrier in Croatia.
Thanks in advance.

Update After Rooting?

I'm new to the Android platform but have Jailbroken and Unlocked three iPhones in the past.
I'm planning to root a new Samsung Epic maily remove the bloatware Sprint installed and to improve the phone's performance. What I'd like to know is if root access will remain if and when the phone is updated to Froyo?
This may happen two ways: an official update from Samsung/Sprint or a custom ROM. I'm assuming a custom ROM or Froyo ROM would still be rooted, but what about an official update from Samsung?
Thanks for any help!
Paul
Once you are rooted you never go back unless you manually unroot.
Any official update will unroot so wait til you have confirmation that root will be possible before applying any official update.

[Q] New Sprint update on Evo 4g

So in reading the Forums i couldn't find an answer for this so here i go. I have a rooted evo 4g and i want to give it to my wife and get a new evo 3D. I was told if i update with the new sprint release it will automaticly unroot my phone and install the new update. I need the phone to be unrooted to be able to take it in to sprint and transfer the numbers. When i run the update the phone freezes and i have to take the battery out. Is there something i am missing or do i need to run an Unroot? Any advice would be great, thank you in advance!

Update to ICS from rooted Nexus S

Hey all!
I've got an Nexus S 4G running Gingerbread on Sprint network. I rooted it using oneclick root and free myself from a whole lot of bloatware.
Now, Sprint is trying to push ICS update to my phone. Can I update manually with my already rooted phone, or will I have to unroot, update, and reroot the new version?
I think this thread addresses the same (or at least similar) thing, hope it helps:

I had to flash a stock Gingerbread ROM, which unrooted my phone, and then I was able to get the OTA ICS update. I'm on AT&T though, not sure about Sprint.
