So in reading the Forums i couldn't find an answer for this so here i go. I have a rooted evo 4g and i want to give it to my wife and get a new evo 3D. I was told if i update with the new sprint release it will automaticly unroot my phone and install the new update. I need the phone to be unrooted to be able to take it in to sprint and transfer the numbers. When i run the update the phone freezes and i have to take the battery out. Is there something i am missing or do i need to run an Unroot? Any advice would be great, thank you in advance!

I hate writing newbie, but I feel like I kind of am...
Anyway, I recently purchased a Droid 2 Global after my G1 finally felt too old. My G1 had been rooted with custom roms, and I miss that on my Droid. If I root, can I still get the OTA updates from Verizon? If I go to About Phone after rooting, will I still be able to upgrade to the newest update, or will I be blocked? I know I'll lose root if I upgrade, but do I even have the option once rooted?

I've got an Nexus S 4G running Gingerbread on Sprint network. I rooted it using oneclick root and free myself from a whole lot of bloatware.
Now, Sprint is trying to push ICS update to my phone. Can I update manually with my already rooted phone, or will I have to unroot, update, and reroot the new version?

I had to flash a stock Gingerbread ROM, which unrooted my phone, and then I was able to get the OTA ICS update. I'm on AT&T though, not sure about Sprint.

Update killed everything on my phone. So if you have root dont install it if you want to keep it. Any help or new root method would be greatly appreciated!

What did you use to root it initially? What have you tried to reroot it? I'm not a developer but I do own a lg e739. I was worried the update would potentially stop us from rooting and think if you tell me a little bit we can find a way to get past it.
feeling to lazy to research it so if its posted some were on the site don't get mad. i have a htc evo 4g by sprint it is currently rooted on CyanogenMod 7 all i want to do is get it back to factory settings so that i can activate my phone with a new number here is some more info about the phone if that helps (android version is 2.3.3) (mod version CyanogenMod-7.0.3.1-supersonic)

hi basically i took my phone s3 gt-i9305 to a local shop to get it unlocked, after it was unlocked the system updates would fail and say modifiyed, i took phone back to shop today and he did some thing and it worked, only there was a prob it was branded to t mobile and some app where in swedish i think, i took it back and i told him i read a post on orignal pre-root roms on this forum, basically he flash the evr-bvbmf1 to my phone as that was what was orinally on phone, after he done it the device status said normal, i managed to delete the remaining t mobile apps but there is a supersu app on phone, i read i can use OTA with the rom that was used, i have never rooted or flashed anything my self, i just wanted phone unlocked and to be able to OTA, my questions are
1 if i OTA will it update and i will never see the tmobile apps again
2 if i OTA will the supersu be removed
3 if number 2 is a no how on earth can i get rid of the the supersu ?
i just want to be able to have my phone on offical OTA, its unlocked now and working but i havent tryed the OTA yet as i not sure if i will be able to get rid of supersu, desperate for help as it been doing my head in for 2 days and havent actually been able to sit and install apps or even play with my phone

SOLVED now i think, but when i went to update it said i was on latest so i guess i have to wait till it needs update.
i removed supersu and my device now says modified, i have no rooting experience and just want my device to be on offical fimeware, can any one please help me, wish i never went to the shop i did to get it unlocked, could some one please help me when i purchased the phone i was on BVBMF1, i really dont want to mess it up up, it was EE/ORANGE UK orginally.
