how many of you use this program? i mean ive seen some cool themes for it but does it truly replace your lockscreen? does it prevent the phone from sleeping at all?
I use it off and on. I never used a theme for it though, but yes it does fully replace your lock screen. You can use a diff image for lock screen as well, drop apps on it, even widgets! Cool app Not sure if it prevents from sleeping, but screen will time out, that is adjustable as well...
decided against it, i heard it really drains the battery.
i dont have any battery draining issues with widget locker. only issue i have with it is i cant use a passcode with it

I use it on CM7, no battery drain issues (my battery life hasn't been impacted noticeably at all) and it fully replaces the lockscreen. Every now and then I'll see the stock one for a second though.
I've used it on Myn's Rls5, Warm Z, and now Kings R3. I haven't noticed any battery drain either.

have used it since release in june. battery drain stories are a complete crock lol
Same here no drain

There is another app that is sort of the same called LockBot. I dont think you can add apps and widgets to your lockscreen like you can with widgetlocker, though I may be wrong about that
edit...I never noticed any battery drain from either of the two apps
I use it on CM7 doesn't drain my battery anymore than when its not in use.
If someone could point me to a widget for music controllable that hides when no music is being played (like the cm7 lock screen) this would be my lock screen for good.

I use winamp which has its own full screen Lockscreen controls. It disables when not in use to my standard widgetlocker screen.
I use widgetlocker with no battery issues on Fresh3.5.0.1 and CM7rc2. I like it for the customization factor without flashing lockscreen mods and screwing with frameworks.
whats i like about it is works on an odex rom. currently running Miks 4.6b2 odex

Phantom Music Control in the market. Only works with stock players though, including the one in CM7.

Usable
-GPS Lock
-A2DP
-Good Camera
-low battery drain
-A good, fast launcher that's fully customizable
-I love notification toggles

Notification toggles are a must. I can't use a rom without them.

-HDMI output control
-Ability to use both Netflix and HBO Go.
-Colorized theme
-Toggle controls (sound, wifi, data, gps, etc) in drop down.
Battery life is the most important aspect for my daily needs. Not of big fan of CM7. I would prefer a Rom setup similar to stock regarding internal and external storage.
Add lots of color but keep the fonts stock. Theming the black and white icons found on stock would be great.
+1 on the NetFlix comment.
Thank you for your efforts.

Personally I would like to see a pure Gingerbread rom with OC'ed kernel and just adding the Theme Chooser. I don't need notification toggles because I can just use the power control widget on a homescreen in order to toggle. I'm more interested in speed and stability myself and don't worry about battery life like others. Though I can see how battery life would be important. I OC right now to 1.55/1.55 with performance governor, so my personal battery life is crap, lol.
Just something simple, stable Kernel (but without sacrificing performance and battery life), and definitely gotta have the LG camera.
So, I'm guessing most of you would like a 2.3.3 based ROM?

Would be nice if it were 2.3.5, lol.
2.2.2 has Enables for Background sync, and Auto-sync. I'd like to have a timed sync - like while "screen off", every n minutes allow background and auto syncing, then disable syncing.
It appears that when WiFi calling is active, the cell radio is enabled or occasionally enabled? I'd like to see the cell radio totally disabled when WiFi calling is active.
Maybe the wrong thread, but it'd be good to be able to "nice" individual processes.
I suppose some of these are already do-able, I just hadn't found it yet.
Thanks.

Weapons does not have the ability to play Netflix. CM7 does, but HBO Go doesn't work; plus CM7 doesn't allow you to adjust HDMI output.

Here's the problem...Weapon was serious buggy. GPS wouldn't lock, battery drain and it would freeze up on me. After the last Black screen of doom I had to wish it goodbye.
So, I know that the ROM Gummycharged has several different lockscreens to choose from and Humblecomb's default lock screen is the sliding tabs. But if you're on the Stock GB 2.3.6 or Infinity ROM, and the only lock screens to choose from are the puzzle screen and the glass unlock, is there a way you can go into the framework and program something like the icecream sandwhich lock screen or the gingerbread tab slider unlock screen? I am aware there are programs out there like WidgetLocker and stuff, but I don't like the amount of CPU it takesup and it always messes with my other apps like handcent.
I would be interested as well how ever don't think it is possible simple cause of the fact it was never really don't or the devs are more concerned about stability before making ui changes that's my guess...

On the infinity rom I loaded 2 different themes and they had different lock screens.
Not sure if that would be what you are looking for.I used this one and the lock screen you have to slide the pic up and to the right.

I also used this one and thought it was cool , dont remember the lock screen but it was different. Really liked the red but was over powering in somethings.

Hello all,
I have a couple of questions about Go Locker for those that use it or use Go Launcher EX.
I actually hated it at first for a number of reasons but recently gave it another try. I know I have modified my phone the way I like it and have 2 locker themes I really would love to use.
However, what seriously frustrates me is the lag and inconstant performance. First off, when I power cycle the phone or restart it, it will load the default Skyrocket lock screen for a while before it eventually only loads the Go Locker screen I have chosen. Second, it sometimes does not display the lock screen immediately after waking the phone up by pressing that power button.
I love this very much but I seriously hate the lag and poor performance.
Has anyone been able to tweak this or find a workaround?
Thank you much,
i use milocker
Ahh, never heard of milocker. Does it perform well for you? Is is fast after waking the phone? Do they have themes or are there any from third-party?
Thanks!
I found either go locker or one of go lockers themes seemed.to help my battery drain real quick . I'm going to try milocker also

milocker has many themes. some work faster than others.
I completely agree with this! Very true. Not only are some slow as mentioned below even with milocker, but some do have an impact on battery life. I personally won't use any that has some kind of animation.
I just found one high tech theme that looks amazing and works great, as long as I disable the clock. Don't really need the clock on lock screen. Works great!!
Thank you all

As you know, CM7 has no battery level meter, just the icon, so just curious what some of you use. Someone told me one they use all the time, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it. Thanks!

Hi there. Lot's of words already said about it. But the main question is still the same - why don't you use live wallpapers?
As for me, any scene's beauty just destroyed on the phone, because it's just too small. But i use lwps for tablets for sure, they are really make it more fascinating.
So, my friends and i desided to make some lwp for those users who do not actually use lwps at all.
The work took about 2 months and resulted in our new app Coloring Screen.
The idea is simple. We took photoshop color filters and photo effects and applied them to the current wallpaper (i mean static picture). The only way to do this was to create live wallpaper so this app is lwp.
We cared a lot about battery use and as a result Coloring Screen has almost no battery drain.
Also we added auto-pan feature for those devices that do not support wallpaper scrolling by default like SGS3.
We added more than 20 photo filters and color effects to easily adjust wallpaper:
Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange filters
Day time,Night time effects
Autumn, Winter, Sprint and Summer adjustments
Classik black&white, Sepia, Neon, Negative and more
We also added interactive animations:
Time of the day (darker, desaturated and more constrast at night, brighter at day)
Seasons (at autumn time wallpaper will look orange, at winter time - white, etc)
Weather (simple and beautiful rain, snow, sun, clouds, thunder and frost animations)
Dynamic/Random/Interactive coloring (for example, swiping the screen will change wallpaper colors)
Already available in Google Play
Please give me your sign and tell me what are you thinking about this app? Do you find it useful/cool/boring/etc.
Thanks!
Battery consumption. There you have your answer. No other reason behind it. Oh and memory consumption. There two good and viable answers.

performance. even with a so called 'beast' specs, my atrix can't handle a lwp without too much lag everywhere...

Definitely battery/performance as said above.
It's just sad that many android phones supports Live Wallpapers, but the end-user always complain about battery drain and performance issues as well. I really like the idea of moving wallpapers wherever you go (Desktop & App Drawer), it's really an eye candy for anyone! Well I hope someday, someone might fix this. This is one of Android's most unique feature!

I love live wallpaper, so does evrybody, but nobody uses it daily, only one major reason, battery, bcoz android itself is a battery drainer,so i use multi wallpaper, app from the market,i gives me multi wallpapers, for different screen,n the big plus is it doesn't even drain ur battery, until i get note 2 with bigger battery,i hv to be contended with static wallpaper,im giving ur app a try will report later

Battery life? I really dont understand.
Even if wallpaper drains battery, it's just about 1% of total power consumption (especially in compare with display or wifi/gps/internet usage). It means you are able to use your device for 5 minutes longer a day. It's completely ridiculous.
Btw, as i sad, Coloring Screen does not render anything in background if no weather animation. So battery usage is completely zero. It's behavior as like as regular wallpaper - render to buffer once then do nothing.
But its still 1% same reason why I use zero Widgets. I keep my phone as simple as it gets. Minimum.

WP8 solves this even better, no graphics, no widgets, no animations

First of all congratulations for your applications(like panoramic screen )

I hate lwp because of battery consumption but i agree with your statement that if its bad coded it can kill your battery easily

Coloring Screen is different and may be kinda nice but I'm not one to sit and stare at the screen, therefore I don't really care what the background looks like.
I don't use them because of the lag they normally bring. It's not a lot but noticeable.
My next phone will probably be a quad core, so hopefully I can start using them again

Thanks! Battery almost not affected. In advanced preferences category you can even find Battery Usage options that is set to 0.00% by default
Memory depends on your current available memory. It requires over 11Mb for java and opengl contexts. But so far as android manages memory usage itself you can see much more in task manager because android do not kill apps immidiately. For example, when you have lwp on background and open our preview widget, memory usage doubles. In task manager they both called Coloring Screen so you see incorrect memory usage by the app.
If you'll have troubles just let me know!
