I wonder if Big Red is phasing out the "Droid" branding on their elite Android offerings that aren't Moto branded.
The T-Bolt is conspicuously referred to as Verizon or HTC Thunderbolt, *Not* Droid TBolt...
I for one think that the Droid sub-branding was a marketing snafu, as it attributed to genericide and confusion among the masses over nomenclature.
As my 5 year old says, All Droids are Androids, but not all Androids are Droids...
Maybe George Lucas wants some extra money.
I'm really hoping they're doing away with the Droid sub brand. I'm getting really tired of people telling me all about their "Droid" as they pull an LG Ally out of their pocket.

lmfao, I've had that happen once, I had my Dinc in his hand and my friend had his OG droid in his hand exchanging numbers, one of our other "friends" was like look at my droid!... it was a ****ing RAZR!!
I really hope they remove "Droid" from everything except Moto, they can have it. I was sick of the whole Droid Incredible thing,
"it's an iPhone!, now wait, it's a Droid! no way!".... ME:
Few possibilities
1) Moto paid to have the DROID branding to itself (note that the Incredible was the only non-Moto DROID-branded phone)
2) The Thunderbolt being their first LTE phone, they didn't want to tarnish the name if there were any major issues
3) They're trying to get away from the DROID brand's super-agressive reputation (though the Thunderbolt ads, and the phone itself make this seem unlikely)

Droid Eris.
But yeah, I hate the Droid brand. Im fine with it being just for Moto phones.
With the exception of the Eris, Droid branding meant the phone had to feature an awful "industrial" design.

Anything like Droid Incredible out to come to ATT?
I have a Cappy but I really wish for more huge-screen HTC's like the EVO or Droid Incredible.
Thanks

Keep your Captivate. It has the strongest developer-base on XDA for any AT&T phone, and it is most likely going to stay that way. There aren't any phones on AT&T scheduled until maybe Q2 so do yourself a favor, save the money, and keep your beautiful, amazing, sexy Captivate.
T-Mobile just confirmed a sidekick 4G android device will be coming in the next few months
http://www.gizmocrunch.com/android/4841-samsung-galaxy-4g-htc-sidekick-t-mobile
It sounds interesting, I have had a sidekick before and the design is hot imo however the software (danger OS) was terrible the market had no apps compare to android.
So what you guys think about this? Do you see potential in the device since its android afterall, and don't come comment things like "its a teenager phone" because I've seen old people with it before LOL

the only thing I see not making me excited is the possibility that htc won't be making it, we all know that the best processors are currently made by htc and samsung, and I only buy htc phones! lol

When the Sidekick was released, apps were not an issue, it was never really an issue. In fact, I am sure that it decline because the iPhone was a smartphone that didn't feel like you were carrying around a brick. I had the Sidekick 3 which was released in 2006, it was heavy, but it was a pretty cool phone despite the fact it was not exactly portable.
Also, neither Samsung or HTC will make the next Sidekick (lack of involvement with the brand is one reason). Most likely it will be either Sharp or Motorola. Leaning towards Sharp because they didn't have issues with their Sidekick versions.
Fun fact, the guy behind Android founded Danger Inc.
I had the Sidekick 08 from launch all the way up until a couple months ago when I purchased the myTouch 4g. I enjoyed the phone while I had it, never had any problems with it(except for the whole data loss incident). I got the MT4G because the sidekick had been worn out over the past years, but it was a good phone
If htc ain't making than no sidekick for me lmao but we still don't know for sure any one could make this new sidekick we'll see!

This is awesome news!!
I had the latest sidekick Lx and I loved it, still love that keyboard for texting, i miss it ):
Do you all think they will have still have that flip screen.
I recently had to use one and let me tell you i hated every minute of it.
See I like a lot of people text when we arent suppose to. Having to flip that screen everytime to send a text was painful. I really dont see how kids get away with texting in class.

Know?
Droid X performs tons of HTC devices. And that's a Motorola. Droid X is about equal to the MT4g in power.
I hope Samsung makes the Sidekick. Super AMOLED FTW! Plus it's gonna be Andy Rubin's baby. Which means... Stock Android ?! It could be like the Nexus S with a keyboard epic win
Makes sense to me that it would be running android though not only is it the best os in my opinion but the guy who brought you the sidekick UI is now in charge of Google's user experience department. I hope for one hope HTC busts out the sidekick I never owned one and always wanted one, and although Sombionix and Team Whiskey bust out some great roms for my phone I don't think I'll go the Samsung route again.
Dank Ups
Vibrant Galaxy S
Doin that Voodoo that it do so well with Bionix V5

And your wish just came true stock android and unfortunately (for me ofcourse) its made by samsung! With the super amoled btw no offense I just don't like samsung so I won't buy this new sidekick you will lol
That sounds pretty sweet! Physical kbs are always nice.
Yea I'm not saying its bad its just I like htc better but it looks good for samsung fans at least its better than sharp making the sidekick, and I love that it has a ffc but guess what and this really inffuriates me...... no flash on the cam wtf at this age

So my wife needs a new phone.
I have been very keen of the HTC Sensation and been finding an excuse to pick one up. Her new phone is just another new toy for me!
I know HTC will soon release an unlocked bootloader for the Sensation, which makes me wanna pick up one of these babies even more!
But with the released of Moto Droid3, I am itching to play with one of these too! I used to have the Atrix, and I terribly HATE motoblur. People have been saying Motoblur has improved with the D3 though.
Overall, I am still more likely to pick up the HTC Sensation, but I just wanna hear some of your thoughts between the two devices.
Thanks.
The Droid 3 seems to have a really weak antenna for a Moto phone. In the Verizon store it switched over to 1X where nearly all of the other phones stayed on a weak 3G signal.
I'd take the Sensation in a heartbeat. The newest Motoblur is way improved over what it used to be, but it's still ugly.
Thanks for the responses!

This is true. I have never been too fond of the Droid/2/3 series look and design. In fact, I personally have a disdain for physical keyboards too!
But the plus side of the Droid3 is it works in China and it works on Verizon. We travel back and forth frequently as both our jobs require us to.
We are on Verizon back home too.
But also, I think if we pick up at Droid3, we wouldn't be getting the Verizon model, which leaves us with Milestone 3. And I'm not sure if Milestone 3 will work on Verizon.
In China we are on China Unicom.
I would definitely skip the Milestone. Motorola is real slow when it comes to updating overseas (outside of US) phones.

oh really? this i did NOT know.
Good to know. Motorola isn't the greatest in updating even in the US.
Alright, HTC Sensation it is.
Thanks, heygrl.
Yeah the original milestone has a horrible update history, identical to the DROID which was updated quick and often.
The US DEFY got 2.2.1, overseas models didn't get it and if they did it was months after.
freakin' verizon. lol... i know some of you guys are going to be dumped your TB's for it.
Verizon and Moto can keep that one. My Thunderbolt with extended battery has substance and mass! It's fast and mean! I can take the battery out and use it as a weapon if I want to! It's MANLY!
The RAZR on the other hand is skinny and weak looking. What if I want to use the battery for a ninja star? It's a no-go with it (even if they do call it a RAZR, talk about false advertising, sheesh!). My wife or mother may want one of these, but not this MAN!

although I am going to get the ReZound also.
Useless commercial for a useless phone -_-
Dropping my TB for a GNex. TB is going to my mom to replace her DX. Razr just doesn't do it for me... Seems way to wide and seriously, the amount of bloat on that is just getting ridiculous. As long as VZW keeps releasing Nexus phones, I think I am done with anything skinned...

but as I said before, its Super AMOLED, but not Super AMOLED Plus like the Galaxy S. it has same pixel count as an iphone's 3.5" screen.
I'm not sure if I want the Razr, Nexus Prime, or HTC Rezound. The more I read about the Razr and reviews on it, the more I want it.
But the HTC Edge being the first quad-core phone? That sounds intriguing but I hear it's only HSPA+ 21 which is AT&T's old "4G" network.

considering that HTC is just barely going to release the 'Rezound' next week, i'm sure it'll be awhile before the Edge comes out. i know news feeds are suggesting a late 2011' / early 2012 date.. but i highly doubt that. more so it'll be late spring/early summer before it comes out.
I gotta keep my bolt, ill never go back to moto with their locked bootloader

I'm not exactly concerned about the release date since I just got my thunderbolt from my mom last Sunday(and since I'm eligible for an upgrade... I'm patient.), I just wanna know what network it's gonna debut on. Lol, I work for AT&T and I have Verizon service

since it's only locked in the US, there's apparently already been a work around for the bootloader. they're talking about it on the RAZR forums.

What is your point?
Razr is still less ppi by a landslide.
Or are we on this about the Rezound again?
Which screen looks better, the Samsung Fascinate or the Droid Incredible 2?
Greetings all,
Just got an S3. Getting to know it and like it a lot.

I'd get the razor Maxx
Gs3
Never thought I'd say this but since it is for a business line I say go with anything from the Motorola Droid RAZR line. The signal quality on those are superb and since its business I'm sure that's most important.
I would've recommended the Galaxy Nexus but I use to have a huge struggle with maintaining signal. I went through 5 gnex until they offered to give me a gs3 and I took it. I know plenty of people that use to have the issue didn't have it anymore once they flashed those recent jelly bean radios but there were also some like myself that still had the problem.

No offense to you personally, but I couldn't see getting an Android phone whose multitasking has been crippled, with a unibody design that makes battery replacement difficult and no SD card slot.
I'd still get it above an iPhone because it's essentially been whittled down to iPhone limitations with the size and OS we expect from contemporary Android phones, but within the Android product lines it's not something I'd seek out above others. If their JB update fixes the multitasking limitations, I could more easily see it as a second phone, though.
If I needed a second phone that wasn't necessarily in the GS3 class and dev wasn't an immediate goal, I might try out the Droid Incredible 4G LTE.
My $0.02.
