First off all, Thanks alot to all developers who spend their valuable time in effort to make my gtab alive. I really have a good time with this forum so far.
Back to the question. Is there any way that I can set up my gtab to join my home network so it can see and share the infos with other PCs on the network. I am using win 7 and xp and my gtab runs on Vegan beta 5.
Again, Thanks to all developers.

what, exactly, are you trying to do with it? I use CIFS Manager to set up shares for my music and video from different machines on my home network...

I'm not sure this will work because I haven't tried it yet but I trust Tweakhounds Blog for good info.

Just had to post a HUGE thank you for helping me get my HTC TP2 (Sprint) set up as a wifi router, I'm using it now with my laptop to make this post.
I've been lurking about for a while and from the posts I have read and the different methods I have viewed and tried, the XDA-WIFI sharing thing-ama-bob-doohickey, LOL don't ask, I'm now able to tether my pc to my phone.
WOOOHOOOO!!!!
Don't ask me how I did it, cause I'm not even certain, but I know how to turn it on and off now.
Oh and I'm also able to use my USB cable to charge the phone with my laptop whiles using the wifi with no issues, even tried connecting my wifes laptop while connected my self and it also works!!!!!
Your welcome, i know i didnt help you but atleast your showing that your grateful.
My last phone was a Samsung Instinct and that was easy to hack to make it tether, but just got this TP2 about a week ago and it proved more of a challenge, so I googled and found this website, and I'm not sure who's literature helped, thus the over all gratitude to ALL members of this site that provided 411, it may have been anyone here.
I'm a long time beta tester and former msft sysop so as I gain more knowledge with this phone, I hope to be able to provide feedback and/or guidance such as that which I have received.
I know everyone keeps saying thanks for all you hard work, but I do not think we can thank you enough.
I will not list all of the Gtab Dev's, you know who you all are.
I just wanted to start this thread for us that have been here from the beginning of the gtab and it's place here on XDA From one huge thread to it's own home.
This will also give those new user's an idea of who here help make this device a better device and who Viewsonic really needs to thank for current and future sales.
Everyone, please keep the thread on track (this is not a place for questions and answers and discussions of apps, roms and such)
just say "THANKS"
Twelve ounce solute to all XDA devs
Thanks!!!

GRACIAS!!
Thanks Roebeet and others!
I can truly say this thing would be back without the dev's hard work. Thanks !
I did return one early on...Then kept reading the posts and went back and bought another one.
Added tnt 2.2 "liked it alot"
But the VEGAn build beta2 has passed them all by. This thing is so nice now.
iPhone ipad what are those Consumer devices... they seem like old crippled OS's from the past. Remember WM5 ??? No I forgot the minute I went to Treo. Remember Treo..no I forgot the minute I went to iPhone 1st gen. Now...
Remember iPhone 4/3gs no I forgot the minute I got a Android Samsung Captivate. Now the circle is complete with the Viper Tablet( G tablet with VEGAN beta xx)!
Obrigado !
Oh with out a doubt!! Us and Viewsonic owes these guys ...I was so disappointed when I first got my g tab home and saw how slow it was. I actually boxed it back up and was going to return it the following day. I stumbled on this site and stayed up all night tweaking my new favorite toy.
Big thank you. I bought one the first day but took it back. I just bought another one after seeing the great options given us by the great cooks here!
Wowsher
This has been one of the most active and resourceful forums I've been a part of. Many many thanks to Roebeet and the other developers for their tireless contributions to the forum and for making the Viewsonic G Tablet a wonderful choice.
Thank you! I would have returned this device had I not stumbled across this great site!
You have made an android noob look great! I love my device now and Thank all the Developers and users out there!
I'm with you guys I never would've bought this device if it wasn't for the days of reading threads on xda and seeing the support itbwas getting. I knew it couldn't be bad if it was getting so much love from the devs. THANK YOU!!! For making putting the tegra 2 to good use
Thanks!
very, very much appreciated!
Its been fun to watch all the collaboration and hard work.
Thanks!!
All the hard work is very appreciated here.
Its like the old 6 million doller man TV show in the 70's: We can rebuild it... better, stronger, faster. Indeed they did.
Thank you ALL, for all of your hard work. Without you, the G-tab would be dead.
THANKS
thanks I almost returned it. I switch roms about 3 to 4 days from roebeet to CM6 to TNT lite
Much respect to the devs.
My turn!
Rothnic, many thanks for your initial zPad roms, your subsequent dealings with their devs to bridge the gap, and your amazing work with the VEGAn build.
GoJimi, your work on the VEGAn is nothing short of amazing and we wouldn't even have a build without you. I was ready to give up on it before you got alpha 1 working.
Bekit. Clockworkmod. I think we all know how important that tool is in our build work. And your nvflash work has made it possible to restore an otherwise bricked device. I can't thank you enough for that.
Proengin. You've been the middle man between myself and Modaco / Malata, and your info has helped us immensely with our builds.
To everyone who I've mentioned in my build posts (there's a lot of you out there). Every tip and fix you've helped with has made our devices better.
And to the community here -- your testing and feedback have helped enormously to make a mediocre device great. There are numerous things you've suggested that I would have never even thought of, and now I get to reap the benefits of, on my own device!
THANKS!!!
Roebeet, I can't that you enough! I've been following your mods since I found myself frustrated with my first Eken and I came across your WPDN mods on slatedroid which prompted me to go out and get one of those and then when you got a gTab I jumped on that bandwagon too and again have you to thank for a device that works much better than it did out of the box. Thanks again to you and anyone else who has contributed to your efforts. If our paths ever cross I look forward to buying you a drink.
Another person of great help to this newbie is Wasserkapf. He has been most patient, and kind to me as I embark on my journey with the G Tablet. Thanks!
Hola guys I'm semi-new in xda in the sense that i registered in a lot time ago (as you can easly see xD ) but i never have time to be present in various discussions.. so i limited to observe you only (like a 007 under cover xD ahaha) but i can't wait anymore and, because i can't post anything until 10 posts, i want to thank everyone is doing his best to improve our device for the moment my thanksgiving are general because i'm afraid to forget someone, but when I reach the prefixed number of posts i thank you personally if you continue in the way like you're doing in this moment our device becomes as great as its cousin
However, let's focus on the title of 3d: i wanna ask you if is there any possibility to port Ububntu on our device. I'm mainly referring to hardware's aspects in the waiting that some great developer can do this, eventually
10x to everyone in advance
Sent from my S2+
if ubuntu touch ported you wont use it because just wifi works no ril no bluetooth ..long list it is stil in devlopment ... see ubuntu web site ..
Ookay thanks a lot however i hope these problems will be fix soon because I really want to try this o.s. (that I consider wonderful on desks versions) on a mobile device. Btw.. again thank you

I am a long time leecher here at XDA-Developers, but I decided to create an account and see if I could help anybody with anything.
I am a long time programmer, however I didn't really have any Java experience until I get interested in Android a few years back. I am mainly a web developer, and so Java wasn't really anything that I was focused on learning.
What I can do for the XDA community.
Because I am a long time leecher here, I decided that until I actually have something to contribute to the actual Android community, I can contribute what I already have.
I have several servers currently online, so I can host your git/svn projects online in a secure area. Be it private or public. I can also host a website for you and your projects. Most of the time it will cost you nothing, except maybe a domain name if I am broke. (I don't make much at my day job).
I can also host your applications cloud backend, or your apps web interface. Whatever you need me to do. I am a pretty good sysadmin, and already have everything to do it.
I can't thank all of the devs here enough, especially the Galaxy S3 and Note 3 devs considering that they are the devices that I have had recently.
Let me know if you need anything.
Thank you,
Dan
I support you, you're good, I do phone in China, there are many good products in foreign countries want to do some marketing and sales, but a national and regional mobile phone users do not understand. If so, I hope we can have a lot of cooperation. If you are interested you can contact friends

We thank you joining. Also, offering to host files will help a lot of developers on this site.
You say that you're a common user of XDA. What are your other experiences with Android? Rooting? Any ROM experience?
--
I have rooted every device I have owned since my first Android device which was the Motorola droid X using guides from this site. Flashed countless roms to my different devices all downloaded from here.
I am going to start trying to take some roms apart and seeing what I can do with them. Hopefully I can patch a bug or two for some of you guys.
Try and spread the word that I can do what I can do, I don't want to come off as a spammer or anything so I am just going to leave it at this. you can link to this thread, and I will probably put it in my signature.
Thanks for your interest. If you know of any good guides for a beginner rom developer or kernel hacker I would love to read them.

Welcome to XDA! i myself used to be a lurker for XDA, its very generous of you to help others with hosting websites, im sure you will get lots of people accepting your offer. its not very hard to develop apps kernels or custom roms, should only require patience and time (and maybe a little bit more ram, the more ram you have the faster you can build a rom ) hope to see you on the battlefield! enjoy your stay at new vegas!
Welcome
Welcome to XDA! Am also follower of this site... Now registered new bee
I am not a expert like you... Just within in very small limit of exploring
Thanks for the responses everyone. Glad to hear that I may actually be able to help a little until I get going.
Good to hear from all of you.

I have recently come into a couple of domains in a trade. The are androidery.com and myandroidreview.com.
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing anything with these domains.
Possibly a popular developer or developers that need a place to host their roms and source control servers. Whatever it may be, let me know.
If you have other ideas for websites you can post here or PM me and I will try to help you out.
Thanks,
Daniel

OLD newbie..
I too, myself, have been leeching here since I joined XDA a few months back, and still in the process of learning android development.
I'm more in to embedded systems' programming and development, but lately android interests me, and just now decided to get active.
:victory: Welcome to XDA mates!
Welcome. I am new as well
Hello! I'm still new at here too! I hope i can make some contribution in XDA
I know our Xoom is getting a bit long in the tooth, but it still is one of the finest equipped pieces of hardware out there. I've been using the Omnirom 4.4.4 iteration for many months now, and love it.
How many tablets can you name that have external sdcard,HDMI, and USB capability besides the normative features most tablets have.
I think the Xoom might just might have a very good future with the next iteration of Android, Lollipop. I'd love to be able to
work on this, but if I did it, I'd have to find someone who would loan me a Xoom they have laying around unused for an extended period of time.
I don't know, but the more I think of it the more excited I become.
That's not how it works...... You are a user not a developer.... I will see what can be done when sources come out but no this is a scam! Why get a Xoom if you already have one? From a account with no rom threads started

Wasn't a scam Cameron. I have 1 Xoom that is my primary computing device with anything having to do with mobile devices. I will not have it's useability compromised.
By the way, long ago I wrote code for the Atari ST, STacy and Falcon. In the last few hours I have been able to get a second Xoom from a friend locally (he's not using it, and thought it was bricked-It wasn't, just needed help-I've got working) once I get my friend's Xoom up to speed and brush up on my coding skills I should be able to help.
Honestly, I'm 74 years old and just tired and busy enough that I'd rather not take away from my limited time to become a developer again. At this time I'd like to just be a user and return my friend's fully working Xoom to him
Cameron, It seemed like most of the developers had just gone into hiding and I was hoping to generate interest from the community..
You don't know me, or really know much about me. If you did, you'd know that I wasn't attempting to scam anyone. In fact, saying that my goal was to scam is almost criminal and libelous, but I'm not one to easily take take offense.
Just please don't do a rush to judgement again. Once you make such statements they aren't easily retracted.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Your friend,
Rob

I am simply a "user" also but I can attest to the fact that I have seen numerous posts from Kingsman1 in other Xoom forums and he is always there to help others with questions or problems they are having with their tablet.

Thanks for the vote of confidence my friend. The Lollipop Software Development Kit (SDK) is out there. I think that I'm going to hide and watch(though I am available at any time) as far as development is concerned. There are many of us who need help, including me from time to time. I'll go back to helping when I can.
Blessings to all,
Rob

And add another vote from me - I have seen and read many a helpful Kingsman post in these forums - I wish I had some sort of useful skills other than flashing other peoples hard work or I would help - hope this generates the desired response from some other motivated developers - best of luck Sir Rob -

Since being on IOS since 2011 I haven't used this account ; I got on here to say thank you; you are an inspiration for the ages. As our knowledge and experience becomes "mature" it's good to see that young or wise by years; we can all work together.
By the way,
I do have a second Xoom of my own not, and am running Omnirom 5.1.1 Alpha on it. At the moment, I'm looking to see what it can, and can't do. I hope to be able to help Schischu develop this into a stable, and very complete Rom now. Even so, this alpha is very polished, fast, and smooth.
I think we're gonna love it.
Blessings,
Rob
