I've been using my Captivate for recording videos recently and the camera has just been randomly locking up. I started experiencing this way back on Cognition 3.02, and now it still happens on Cognition 4.1.1 and CyanogenMod7. The camera just freezes in the middle of recording, I could be in the middle of recording something and it can happen from 3 seconds into the video to 40 seconds. Then the camera doesn't work at all and takes forever to load. Is there a fix for this?
I currently have CyanogenMod7 on my phone.
-Thanks
Well I've heard that CM7 isn't exactly stable, so that might be the issue. But I'm not sure what to tell you about it happening on any version of Cognition. That's a hella stable ROM.
Does anyone have a fix for this at all?

I was quite excited to get Netflix up and running finally.
Works great on the phone, but when outputting HDMI to the TV I get occasionally blackouts that last a couple seconds on the TV only and occur without any apparent rhythm.
This also happens with video that I have recorded.
I've noticed this with Eagleblood 1.03 as well as CM7 #16 (both stock & OC kernel)
The cables I have are good and have been working fine on the stock ROM.
Anyone else experience this before?
The stability of this phone across all ROMs as well as stock has been questionable. Perhaps this unit is defunct.
Anyhow I hope to iron out these issues so that this devices greatness can shine!

Yep I noticed this as well on CM7 when playing video from the Video Player app or from YouTube. I tried it on my Samsung LED HDTV. It seemed to happen regularly every 30 seconds where the TV would go black for a second while the video continued to play on the phone. However, it ran fine on Eagleblood and stock.
Which Eagleblood did you have success with? 1.02 or 1.03?
Ive had this happen on eagles blood 1.0.3 and I believe gingerbread leak.
its only when watching video via HDMI out. didn't seem to happen when I played a game Via HDMI
I dont remember, i think 1.0.3 worked for me. I'm back to stock now until CM7 is done.
I had this issue, and actually never tried it stock. But I know on stock and Ultimage g2x that you can change the output level (720 - 960) since not all plasmas, lcd's, dlp's cant reproduce 1080p or even i. So setting the level down to a lower level should change that glitch, but its not an option in CM7. I know its an option in Ultimage G2, not sure about stock or EB though.
*Sorry for semi-grave-digging, just thought I would say my 10 cents
Every now and then (like 1 every 3-4 times) when I use the camera app, the entire phone locks up and the only thing that I can do is take off the back cover and remove the battery. This has happened to me twice now. I think that both times that this happened, I was trying to record a video.
Has anyone encountered this problem ?
My G2X is running the newest build of Cyanogen 7 (GB 2.3.4).
This is really annoying me. Has anyone found a solution if you are experiencing this ?
This happen to me when I OC to 1.5ghz.
I test again by lowering to 1.2 ghz and problem ended.
if you oc..lower it..or test another kernel.
I do use setCPU but the only thing that I do with it is set the CPU to 216 when the screen is off. I don't do any overclocking otherwise.
I am having the same freezing issue also. When I switch from camera to video it freezes every time and I have to do a battery pull. I'm running Cyanogen 7 Nightly. Did you find out any info on a fix for this? I've googled everything I could and didn't find anything.
I've been having problems with my back camera.. It can take pictures but randomly only shows a black preview of the picture taken and says "no thumbnail" for that picture or half of the picture shows gray or green colors only and also sometimes force closes.. Front camera works fine and I've already tried different camera apps and different roms but still facing this problem.. I've got no problems using video recording though that's why I think this is really weird..
Hope someone could help me out on this since I've got such an unreliable camera that is randomly usable for taking pictures which is really annoying..
I had same problem when I was on ICS but with front camera. I flashed JB and now it's not even showing black screen, it just crashes
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
I finally found out what is triggering my camera not to work properly.. When the device heats up that's when the back camera has issues (maybe since it is located on the upper part of the phone and that's where the phone usually heats up)..
Does anyone have an idea if this is hardware or software related?
Hey guys, I'm having a small issue with my tab that's beginning to drive me crazy.
I'm not sure if it was present right out of the box as I wasn't completely stock for more than 30 minutes. After I flashed metallice's kernel for stock I noticed some issues a few hours later that every now and then pinch to zoom on the tab became extremely tedious. Like I'd move my fingers half way across the tab and it would barely zoom in.
Scrolling around the page was still smooth, but pinch to zoom was very "hitchy"
I flashed CM9 afterwards and stuck with the stock cm kernel thinking something Metallice did in the kernel wasn't reacting well with my tab, but nope still happened.
After 4.0.4 came out for the tab I flashed back to stock using odin and updated via ota. Everything seemed fine for a few hours and then the issue came back.
It's still occurring on Jelly Bean but it's not quite as pronounced. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and if anyone has a possible fix.
Thanks,
Will
I had a strange behavior a while ago.
I was riding my bike, the phone was in the pocket and I got a video call for which the front cam would have popped up. When I stopped to check, the camera was partially hanging out.
Started the cam app and switched cams to see if the cam goes up and down, it didn't respond. Then I pushed the cam inside and upon switching to front cam, it won't pop up.
Rebooting the phone fixed the issue. Btw I'm on Havoc 7/29 build.
I'm not sure if the behavior is same on oos as well since I haven't used it long to experience this.
Has someone experienced the same? Is it rom specific or is this a design fault from OnePlus that'd be seen even on the stock oos?

This would be a problem with custom rom, I have never seen this issue on stock rom
