[Q] Looking for App to Remap Buttons for Long Press Only - General Questions and Answers

I think this would be useful for a lot of people. I am looking for an app that will let me remap my volume up and down hard buttons BUT will also let me use long presses to keep the volume controls, or vice versa. That way you can remap the buttons while retaining the initial features.
OR, is there an app (that works in Froyo) which can give you volume controls within most apps?

i would like to know this also.
Is there such an app?

Home/Back buttons mapping

Hello people here.
I want to use the home/back buttons for different purposes, that they are designed for. I am using AEBPlus software. With this software I am able to map much more functions on these buttons, but the problem is,these buttons are doing designed functions(home/back) also after mapping even they are unbinded from the system and handled by AEBPlus,so one click means 1click function and home/back at the same time. Anybody knows, how to disable default functionalities?
Thanks for help.
I have AE Buttons to ramap PTT with a long press to activate voice command. I use a 1 press to bring down the Start menu. But it also remaps the "Home" key to do the same. They seem to be locked together. Any thoughts. The descriptions of the buttons in AE doesn't do them justice. Can't tell what is what.
my PTT and Home button are mapped as the same for some reason.
when i use AEBPlus, i can do 1-3 clicks on the PTT, but i cant do the PTT Hold for some reason. any ideas?

Re-assign Menu Button Function - Long Press

On my N1 a long press of the menu button brought up the keyboard regardless of what app you were in. This is especially helpful in apps that assume you have a physical keyboard (e.g. androidVNC). With my Captivate holding the menu button brings up the Google quick search bar which I could care less about.
Is it possible to edit/change this function?
We can't get a stock Android ROM for this thing soon enough!
i was actually thinking about the same thing too.
Let me remind you, long press on the menu button is exactly the same function as short press on the search button, so we really need a "mod" that'll change the duplication function.
This would be really great. Does anyone have any ideas?

They have a thread going over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706426 about the touch keys and modifying them. It looks like the long key press stuff is in the kernel. Not much we can do at the moment.
Solution found,see this:

[Q] Anyone make a Volume remap or softkey program?

Using Froyo, the volume hard buttons on my Nook color are hardcoded to Back and Menu functions. I have looking for a way to add full-time volume softkeys OR find a way to make long presses on the volume buttons change the volume. Another option would be to have volume controls in the notification bar and keep the bar open all the time.
Button Savior has the ability to have full-time softkeys, but nothing for volume (that I know of).
Any ideas?
You could use ClutchPad for this. There's just one item on the screen, but you could set swipe up to be volume up and swipe down to be volume down.
Thank you. I got it to work, but it's a little slow and the up/down swipes are a little difficult to perform correctly. I don't know why it's slow to access the volume controls, but I think the swipe difficulty may be due to the Nook's screen edge sensitivity. Overall, though, I'm very happy to finally have a solution. Thanks again.

Is there an app that does key remapping and shortcuts?

You know, like Samsung Galaxy SII can take a screenshot by clicking two buttons at the same time.
Is there an app that can trigger events by pressing combinations of buttons?
Or how about an app that can remap keys? For example, making the volume key do what the Home key is supposed to do?
Here you go. Just found it only moments after reading your post.
Looks pretty freaking handy.

Thanks!
Can it also define button combinations (a-la taking a screenshot in SGS II)?

[Q] Utilizing volume buttons

Id like to know if there is a way to use say the volume down button to quickly activate an app which is running in the background. I am thinking of say double pressing the volume down button to activate my app. Is this possible?
