Most bizarre thing I have ever seen. I connect my Inspire to my PC as a hard drive. Copy music to it but when I try to access the music from the phone, the folder is empty. I can copy ZIP files or APK files to the phone with no problem. But the MP3 files magically disappear. I have copied music to it before. I even formated it again. It lets me copy everything except the music. I tried fixing permissions but still it does it. Anyone ever experience anything like this?
I have kinda the same problem. My phone does not display anything when i click on the music app icon it says there is none even though the my file manager shows there are? My Ringtones are the same way, I've even reformatted the card twice now and it still says there are no mp3's on my card.
A lil more info would help like, what rom, stock, rooted, etc...

I have tried copying some of my movie files as well as my pictures and they won't transfer to the mytouch 4g. It says the files transfer, and I see them when viewing through window explorer but once I disconnect they are gone. If I plug it back in, the folder and files are gone.
However, some files like my music, has transferred with no issue.
I have tried using a different microsd card and the same thing happened. Anyone else experiencing this?
***This is odd, I downloaded and ran astro manager and went into my sd card. All the normal showing folders and files say "drw" next to them. All the files/folders that are now gone show up as files i cannot open with "-rw" next to them. Sadly I have no idea what this means.
I've been searching all over for a similar issue but no luck.
I accidentally pulled the SD card w/ out unmounting it. From everything I've read the SD card is usually messed up and needs to be formatted. In this case everything on it is okay except that I can't play my music in through music player unless I go through root explorer and select a song. What is wrong here?

Did you try remounting it through Settings/Storage?
If it's in the Xoom, unmount and remount. Or you could backup the sdcards contents, reformat it in a android phone, then reinstall your content and try it again.
I did try the unmount/mount thing but unfortunately it didn't fix it. I was afraid I might have to backup and format the card, 26gb is going to take a while. It's just odd how its only my music, it will play through Root Explorer using the music player but won't play directly through the music player itself.
I'll give it a go later and report back.
Have you tried another music player? or uninstalling updates and reinstalling them?
Yep, winamp plays just fine. The problem is only with the Google Play Music player. It just says "Couldn't play the track you requested" It won't allow me to delete it to reinstall it or remove updates. I think I'll try flashing a new rom before formatting the SD. The latter is very undesirable.
Okay, all of a sudden the mp3s don't appear as mp3s anymore. They just read as 'file' they didn't say that earlier today. Strange that they play just fine in other scenarios .Now amost everything looks ruined.
Thanks guys. Format time.
Btw, files look ruined according to Windows Explorer. Root Explorer says everything is normal.
Pardon my rambling on, but everything on the card works on my Incredible - even the Google Music player plays everything just fine.
I'm absolutely perplexed
Have you tried clearing out the data for Google Play Music? Or the other affected apps?
Yep tried that but it didn't fix it.
Now I can't even get the SD to mount in neither the phone or Xoom. The eff is going on here?!
Edit:
Well I got the Xoom to see it but it says blank SD and offers to format it. I just worry that if I format the SD card it formats the internal card. I should be safe?
Have you tried looking at the card on a computer without the xoom? (Sdcard reader etc)
If that doesn't work, if you are worried about formatting the Xoom's internal storage, you could always just pop the sdcard into a computer, and then format it to fat32. Then you can just put the sdcard back into the xoom and you should be good to go. Just note, that would erase all of your data on the card.
Hey!
I have Folder Mount symlinking to my external SD card for downloaded MOG music files on cm11. (I've got about 11gig on there!) On TW ROMs up through 4.3 this worked just fine. When the conversion to emulated/0 came along, I had to jack with it until it worked, but after that it worked normally. Now, MOG kinda reads the files and kinda doesn't. I can get it to play the last song in the playlist if I push the play button about 10 times while it goes back to the play triangle, but no other song on my playlist after that or any other song on the card or even the one I got to play. Folder Mount seems to be working normally, though I had to mount to a different external SD name in cm11. The link is showing up on emulated/0 (sdcard, sdcard0, what name will it have next?) and seems to operate as it should. I can't move the data over and let Folder Mount move it because it's just too dang big.
I've accessed the xml preferences file in MOG but there was nothing in there that seemed to be relevant.
I've looked at gl to sd but it doesn't quite work the way I need it to work. Besides, I just don't know if that's the problem.
It's kinda a sticky problem - anyone with any ideas?
I have always used micro SD cards to help store all my music and pictures and such, however earlier today after copying some music over, my files weren't being read by my music program Zplayer. I assumed maybe it just read wrong, so I unmounted it and then mounted it again. After this however, it still was not being read so I cleared my app data and restarted my phone. After again not reading my files, I put my SD back into my computer to check and realized that my Music and Photos folder were missing. :crying:
After looking around a little, I realized all files on my SD card disappeared but my LOST.DIR filled with unreadable files. I have used this same 32 GB SD card before so I do not understand why this is happening. Now after reformatting my SD card using my phone AND computer, when I put only one album on it worked perfect. I tried adding a few more after that, and it worked as well. I assumed it was back to normal so I added all the rest I had on my itunes library and then put it into my phone.
After the previous two successes I was disappointed to see that my phone stopped reading my music files again. I used ES File Explorer and saw that my music folder WITH the music files were still intact and in their correct directories. I tried to play a song using the built in ES player, and it played perfectly, so I tried just unmounted and mounting again, thinking it might fix it.
Again still nothing was read and I looked at my file directories and a message popped up saying something around "sd/ext_sd/Music was not found" and discovered once again that my files were missing and my LOST.DIR folder had again been filled.
I am at a lost now as I can not figure this out and I am scared that any information I put on my card will be ruined. No messages pop up warning me my card is corrupted, my files just disappear after being put in my phone for some reason.
TL;DR Whenever I add files to my SD card and put it in my phone I can see the files but they are not read. After unmounting and mounting them again all the files keep moving to the LOST.DIR folder even after reformatting.

SD Card broken?
Maybe the SD card you are using is broken. Is it old? Can you try with another SD card?
This issue happened to me on my PSP memstick which i figure out that it was unmounting issue from the PC, I simply unplugged the usb without safe removal which really shocked me

The weird thing is that I bought this SD card about a week or two ago. I use another SD card for another device and I have not had any problems. My current one just started corrupting everything after I added more files last night. Also I do not use the USB cable, I unmount the card from my phone then use a SD card reader to copy files, not showing any issues!
Try The corrupted SD card on another phone if you can. Yet it highly possible that it is a bad SD card (damaged during the shipping or whatever)

I was just putting some more music on my OnePlus One (using MTP on my pc) when I got slightly irritated of all the junk folders on it. I decided I should clean some of them.
After I finished copying my music I noticed my phone couldn't access the internal SD anymore. I did a reboot, same thing. It kind of shows my SD now, but it's almost empty...
When I attach it to my pc, I see the same (almost none) files.
Anyone an idea what I did wrong, and how to fix?
Many thanks in advance.
Have you tried using fastboot to go back to stock? You will lose all of your data if you do this, so hopefully you have a backup on your pc. It seems like something happened with your partitions when you were deleting stuff.
