I was just putting some more music on my OnePlus One (using MTP on my pc) when I got slightly irritated of all the junk folders on it. I decided I should clean some of them.
After I finished copying my music I noticed my phone couldn't access the internal SD anymore. I did a reboot, same thing. It kind of shows my SD now, but it's almost empty...
When I attach it to my pc, I see the same (almost none) files.
Anyone an idea what I did wrong, and how to fix?
Many thanks in advance.
Have you tried using fastboot to go back to stock? You will lose all of your data if you do this, so hopefully you have a backup on your pc. It seems like something happened with your partitions when you were deleting stuff.

So I flashed my Captivate back to stock using Odin and then flashed Cognition. Everything seems to be working fine again except my phone locks up every time I try to access the SD card. It usually happens whenever I open gallery but also sometimes when I'm in a game or some other application. I can still access it fine through a computer and it doesn't look like I have any corrupted files but it just keeps on locking up my phone. I tried reflashing Cognition and that didn't help. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the SD card even though I've never had any problems before because I've done countless restarts and battery pulls today so it's possible something got corrupted. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Does it have the standard directory where you store your photo/films?
or
Did you try to reformat (FAT32) it? Then take a few pictures (so it does create the stanard directory/~ies). Seems to me it's missing some..

I finally fixed it by going all the way back to stock and reflashing everything. I think it may have have had something to do with the overclocked version of Cognition I was running or perhaps a theme I installed. I was pretty sure it wasn't an issue with the SD card as nothing was corrupted and I could access it fine on my computer. Either way it works again now!
just as a future reference.. you should ALWAYS backup your SD card to your PC considering SD cards DO fail. I lost almost 4.5gb of info because my memcard was corrupted and I had to start collecting all over again (+ i lost something like 600megs of cell pics).
A few days ago, I tried taking some pictures with my Droid Charge and the pics would not save. I tried in the stock camera app and in CameraZoom EX. CameraZoom gave me an error message "failed to save photo to SD car (error code=2). I figured I was out of space.
My Titanium Backup scheduled backup did not run the next day. So, I assumed I was out of space.
I connected the phone to my PC and deleted some pics and music. WHen I was in WIndows explorer, it said I had about 2 GB free after doing all of this.
When playing music today, I noticed files that I had deleted before still present on the phone. I thought this was weird. I went back and checked and all the stuff I thought I deleted was still there.
I searched on the CameraZoom EX error code 2. It directed to remove and reinsert the card and reboot. I tried that. I have tried unmounting and then mounting with no success either.
My phone seems to be working fine, but I cannot delete or add anything to the microSD card (the original that came with the phone). It does not matter if I use my WIndows 7 laptop, desktop, or various file managers on the phone itself.
ANy idea what is going on?
To me, it sounds like the SD card is going bad. Not a common occurrence but it can happen. You're lucky you can still read from it... I would suggest getting a new SD card (Verizon might even give you a new one free) and copying your data to it before sectors start going bad. By the way, how did you manage to full up 32 gb?
Or I could be blowing this out of proportion and it's just a matter of write protection on the card.

Another option is to copy everything off the SD card, format it, and try to write everything back. Sometimes a format can joggle a bugged card.
It is mostly music that I have on there. I am not sure how write protection would have gotten on the microSD card or how I would remove it. It does not have a physical togge like an SD card does.
I think I may have to try re-formatting. Ugh.

Corrupted SD card. Call VZW and be nice on the phone, explain the situation, hopefully they send you a new one.
Hmmm, this is interesting. I cannot even format the microSD card. I tried to do it through Windows Explorer. It looked like it worked. I then tried to copy files back on and it choked halfway through on a movie, I think.
Anyway, what was more interesting is that when I looked at the drive again, everything was back where it originally was. So, the re-formatting must not have actually worked.
I then tried to erase the SD through the options in Android. I unmounted. I then selected Erase SD card. After rebooting (to just be safe), the SD card still is untouched.
THis microSD card has become an impenetrable force. More realistically, it must have write-protection enabled somehow as that is the only thing I can think of.
The question is how do I find out if write protection is enabled and how to disable it? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
So in preparation for backing up my internal storage for 4.2.1 in case it messes up or I do I was planning on copying everything from my internal device storage onto my computer. When going through the folders to see which ones were empty and I didn't need to copy I came across a folder that I had deleted the contents of earlier that day. Thinking I may have not actually deleted it I did it again.
Before copying the information over I went to check to make sure I had my backup of my nova launcher and noticed it wasn't there, I went to make another backup when I hit restore just to check that there was a back up and there was, and in the folder I had just looked on in my computer.
It was then I realized that the data my computer showed was very old files, things I had deleted months ago and some of the newer files were not being shown. I also noticed that old videos and pictures showed in my gallery app even though I knew I deleted them. I tried rebooting my tablet disconnecting it from my computer and reconnecting it and to no avail I also cleared the gallery app data and that seemed to fix the phantom videos and pictures in the app.
If anyone knows what is going on and how I can correct this issue that would be helpful as it does not seem to be an issue with my phone, Galaxy S3.
Thanks,
Frostbiter
You are using MTP connection to delete files/folder or just a file manager? I had similar issues when i was using my PC to delete stuff from the internal storage so you could try to use a file manager and see if it solves the issue.
I do delete stuff from es file manager, I rarely connect my tablet to my computer but when I do its using MTP and only to put files onto the internal storage or sd card.
The gallery thing happens to more people, we have a thread about a multi-GB cache file somewhere around here.
I have never had it show old files on my pc though. Have you tried rebooting your computer? (I feel a bit like the microsoft helpdesk for saying that... xD) Oh, and a registry cleaner might fix the issue. (for the pc, not the tab.)
I have had my sgs3 not showing up at all every once in a while (i use mtp a lot), but thats probably me being an idiot and killing the media storage process again. (I clear out all non-essential processes when gaming.).

I haven't tried rebooting my computer after plugging my tablet it, but I normally turn it off every night and as I said before I rarely plug my tablet it so I don't think it's a cache issues. I'll clean out my registry and maybe I'll uninstall the drivers for my tablet and let them reinstall too.
I was able to fix the issues by switching usb ports I plugged it into, it started showing the proper files when I plugged it into the first usb too. I took a picture while still connected to the first usb port and it showed up in internal storage in my computer so I don't think it's a usb problem.
Thanks for the info on the gallery issue, maybe this cache file and issues I'm having are connected some how.
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction to solve this. Yesterday I started getting messages that the apps that were installed on my sd card stopped working...........then the gallery was gone (all my pics) now there's a message in the corner that says Blank SD card......(card is bland or has unsupported filesystem) do you want to format...........I've tried taking the card out and plugging into a PC however it says its a read-only. I don't want to format, is there any way to get all my pics and data back
any help is appreciated

Unfortunately this is mostly a lost cause. This is a known issue on the Galaxy S3, and I've heard a couple of other phones as well, including the Note 2. I've had this happen THREE times on my phone, to the point that I just don't even use an SD card anymore.
From what I've read the brand and size of the SD card doesn't make a difference.
You may be able to recover some of your pics and other files by using file recovery software on your computer. I used a program called Pandora Recovery, and while it spit out the files using different random names, at least I got a majority of my pics back (I had over 1000 on the card).
Beyond that there is no way to recover the data on the card. Once you try recovery software, you'll have to let your phone format the card if you want to use it again. Even Windows won't read the data from the card in it's current state.
Thank you for your help........im going to give Pandora a try and see what happens. I did hear about a program called DiskDigger Pro........so wish me luck..........I wish I was more pro active in reconizing the signs but it just happened out of no where

I believe you should able to cause it happened to me a few times and I able to recover all my stuff (videos, photos). The trick is find a good SDcard recovery software.
This may or may not help, but it's worth a shot.......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367912&page=2
This problem is why I will not be buying Samsung phones again. It is BS that I can't even use my 32GB SD card because it will eventually fail I will lose everything on it. It has happened twice in 7 months with the phone already.

disk digger worked great for me except for the occasional corrupt. You have to format first.
Thanks a lot for sharing information about other products. However, while scanning the corrupt SD card encountering error messages and unable to recover entire data. In order to overcome such problems, use Remo Recover tool to restore data from corrupt or formatted SD card.
Just wanted to let you guys know that my old SD cards got corrupted because I tried to configure the metadata of my songs through such apps like player pro and etc. I have a 64gb right now and its been working fine for over a year because I just manually configure everything when I connect it to my computer.

Could someone give me a theory as to what happened?
I had screwed up my Huawei again.
I had sorted out a problem I had with an app after changing primary storage from internal to sd when I was installing any new apps.
After it got done, I noticed a little box kept coming up saying I only had 1.88g left.
Like 1.88gigs is a miniscule amount.
Well the system reports the internal 16g had 5+g open, the sd 32g had 27g or so open and my 128g usb thumb drive had the 1.88g.
I don't understand why it seems to be thinking it's putting installs on the usb because it's set for the 32g sdcard to be the primary storage.
So I went through my apps and started using the ICS settings to move apps to the sd.
I must have moved some that don't like the sd. One that doesn't (I know now) is google play services.
I went round and round trying to fix that and finally did by restoring a backup from 3-4 weeks ago but it didn't fix everything.
The services worked again along with the play store....... well the play store works when I DON'T have the usb drive mounted.
When it's mounted the play store app opens but won't connect.
Oh. And it also restarts over and over.
When the usb's mounted it restart after about 30 seconds. When it's not it restarts after about 2-2.5 minutes.
After almost a day trying to fix this, I got irritated with it so I decided I was going to try to use the automatic recovery.
I grabbed the firmware from Huawei's website on my PC and took out my SD card.
I did not see a 'dload' folder so I put it in the 'Download' folder. Put the card back in the tablet and tried to start the recovery.
I had the unlmt.cfg in there too but it did not automatically start so I tried again while keeping the volume pressed and it started.
But after about 3-5 seconds it came up with the FAIL message.
So I figure that maybe it DOES need to be 'dload'. So when it finishes rebooting I make a 'dload' folder and copy those files in there before it rebooted again.
Which while I'm doing I also notice that under 'mnt' the files are in the 'sdcard' folder and not the 'sdcard2' folder which is where I thought it was mounted before.
I guess when I switched primary storage to the sdcard it made the card mount under sd instead of sd2?
So I had pulled the card out and was going to investigate that, but before I did, I decided to put it back in.
When it rebooted this time while I was starting the file manager when I noticed it was connecting and download app updates which it was doing before but when it tried to install them
before it kept failing but this time it was successful.
So I kept watching it and everything seems to be corrected now.
It's not rebooting by itself. It connects everytime. Installs are all successful.
What the hell happened?
Did the few seconds that recovery mode was active maybe fix some kind of file system problem?
Does Android have some sort of 'healing' code built in that makes it eventually repair itself if it finds problems?
Is the Android system alive and had seen that I was going to redo the system and got scared so it started behaving? (Joke of course)
I don't get it.
Can anyone give me some kind of theory as to what might have happened? Please?
Because I'm afraid to reboot it again for fear of it being some sort of fluke.
ANY ideas will be greatly appreciated.
