[Q] rootet 2.2 also on 2.3? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I would like to ask if i can update my rootet t-mobile g2 (desire z) from 2.2 to 2.3?
and if these things still work:
S-off
Root
Overclock
Thanks for the answers

You will probably lose root after the upgrade (unless you are flashing a version of 2.3 that comes pre-rooted). I would look around a little to see how to root 2.3 before upgrading.

Rooting Android 2.2 for Desire

Now that Froyo has been released, if I install the official version from HTC I cannot root my phone and go back to my original ROM if I need to, for warranty purposes. I would prefer the stock official version, as I am not interested in trying to deal with any problems that the custom ROM's may have. So my question is how long do you think it may be, until we will be able to root Android 2.2?
What about checking all the rooted Android 2.2 ROMs in this forum?

[Q] Rooting Htc legend android 2.2

Hey all
If i upgrade my htc legend (not rooted) from android 2.1 to 2.2 via the official vodafone release, will i still be able to root the android 2.2 htc legend so that i can install custom roms?
Thanks
Yes. The usual one click methods used for rooting 2.1 seem to work fine for 2.2. The updated 2.2.1 is more picky but most people are finding the SuperOneClick root works for them.
ok thanks. but what do you mean one click root and super one click root?

"noobie question"--> if i was to downgrade to 2.2 back to stock 2.1 and root it to have super user, i could then be able to install a custom rom? OR what would other people suggest doing?
Could someone point me in the right way with a link or two maybe, or some suggestions?

Upgraded from 2.2.2 to 2.3.3.

Well guys. Ive been experimenting lots with roms, rooting and such. Today i upgraded to the official 2.3.3 gingerbread to lg optimus one, which i really really regret doing. It was no diffrence, just uglier than 2.2.2. And I cant root 2.3.3 with gingerbreak. If i root it i can use my backup to go back to 2.2.2. Could anyone please help me?
TL;DR I need to root my 2.3.3 to be able to use cmw to use my backups.
