Hi all, well i just want to know which is the battery's normal operation temperature, because some times i have arround 40°C when i use more than 5-10 minutes my xt720. I what to know if there is some risk operate at this temperature.
Now, when i overclockin the prossesor, how can i know the CPU's temperature? Which is the normal temperature? (sorry for my english hehe :S).

My phone is generally between 35-40°C when in use. A lot of the battery widgets on the market will give the temperature but I use SetCPU. With it you can set profiles that include the ability to underclock it the battery gets to hot & the SetCPU widget also displays the temp.

I just want to know what is the min-max values of temperature that keeps my phone working good without problems or risks.
I've my cpu overcloacked to 1.3GHz
Normally i've 30°-36° and when i'm playing, the max i've seen was 40°, someone knows what are de recommended values or something like that?
Temps for battery have a lot to do with the rom your on. Some roms will run the same kernel but will overheat my battery more I've noticed.
My HOX running on 4.2.2 Sense 5 stock rom is having heat issues i believe i dont know if its normal
PS default Kernel (still cant get Beastmode,god knows why)
i use "ondemand" as my governor and "noop" as my scheduler with set cpu
i also have trickster mod installed but i use it only for monitoring temp and on what frequency is the cpu running!
when its idle temp is temp of cpu is 35 degrees Celsius and battery 26 degrees Celsius
whenever I am using my phone for internet for benchmarks etc CPU is 40 degrees Celsius and battery is at around 32 degrees Celsius
the phone feels ok
but whenever i start any game no matter how simple it maybe (this applies for a wide spectrum of games ranging from * ball pool to demanding games like Asphalt 8) i notice my backside especially region around my camera getting warmer (now its not very hot but you can tell the difference)
at that time the reading shown is CPU is 45 degrees Celsius and battery becomes 36 degrees Celsius
PS the phone never restarts the game doesn't crash it runs smoothly
is it normal!?
i have read on web that lithium polymer batteries should be kept below 35 degrees Celsius for optimum life and performance
i dot have any background apps running whem i am gaming and the rise is observed in a few minutes or so i usually play a game for max 15 mins after that everything cools down!
this rise is also observed during taking back up through Twrp!
Those temps seem totally normal. Yes, higher temperatures are stressful to Li ion batteries, and hasten capacity loss. But to some extent, you need to try not to worry about it, and enjoy the phone for what it is.
While I don't game much, I do notice the phone getting warm while using Navigation, Netflix, etc. I've had my EVITA since just after release in May 2012, and I haven't noticed any loss in battery life.

Btw redpoint is i know the nature of ondemand governor but in my case it is either the max or min frequency it operates,so is it a good idea to switch over to powersave?
(and does our kernel support that)

Haven't used SetCPU in a while, but pretty sure if the option appears in SetCPU, its supported by the kernel. Depending on what kernel you have installed, more or less governor options will be visible.
Governor seems like a trial and error type of choice. It depends on how you use your phone, and not everyone will get the same results.
Lol those temps are nothing, I've had my battery up to 66° Celsius.

Yep, 66° battery temp. That isn't a normal operating temperature though, that was while my phone was rendering a huge picsphere image from the Focal camera.
There are safeguards in place in case the phone does reach a temperature that would damage the phone. The phone will first warn you it's getting hot by flashing the led red and green, if it continues to heat up it will shut down.

Define "overheating", as in the actual battery temperature. Not "it feels hot".

That doesn't tell us anything. Get an actual battery temperature reading, not what you think it feels like. Most kernel apps should tell you.

I don't pay attention to it myself since I know it isn't overheating. Various kernel apps should give you a reading, hell even Antutu Benchmark tells you your battery temperature in Device Info.
Also, when your battery reaches 60C (or 65C, forgot which of the two), your phone will force shut itself off. Chances are, you're not even feeling much heat from the battery, the CPU usually produces more heat before the battery can even reach that high (some kernels have battery shutdown disabled anyways). The CPU starts throttling at around 60C CPU temp (NOT battery temp), and force shuts down at 105C. Clearly, "warm" is no issue at all.

my note pro 12.2 temperature gets quite high 40C when using it even if the conditions are relatively cold outside is this normal?
my samsung s3 would heat up too that's why i never closed the cover properly to let the hot air escape.. this made a big difference as it wouldn't go up past 32C even in warmish indoor environments (also i used power saving and lowest brightness). i apply the same principles to the tablet, power saving, lowest brightness or auto brightness yet the top part by the camera at the back i can feel heating up and is quite warm.. is this normal? do you other guys have high temps?
i read a review saying it doesn't really go above 35.6C which is BS as mine goes to 40C. i know because the cover is not open the hot air cant escape so the CPU is running up or the battery is heating up or maybe both. i use OS monitor to monitor my battery temp and voltage.
do i have a defective unit possibly? this might also explain why it reboots randomly however i know for certain when it rebooted the temperature was low as i was using it in like 4C conditions so the temp was under 30C max however now the temperature outside has risen i think that's playing a part. im getting sick of all these samsung issues. their quality control needs to be better or at least create so air vents so the battery can breathe. temperature kills lithium ion and i dont think you can change this battery easily

What you're reading is battery temp, not cpu temp. 45c and below is perfectly fine. As for cpu temp, gaming can bump that up to 80-85c. Thermal shutdown occurs at 105c (SM-P900)
Hi I was just wondering should I be worried, I was messing around with my phone tweaking it and installing a few mods and my CPU temperature went all the way up to 38 degrees Celsius, I'm not sure if this is normal or not? Please respond

if you install mod to boost performance or overclock cpu you should expect higher temperature.
however 38 c is not too high. have you tested temperature before those modifications?
specify mods you install to get better help :good:

I was only modding the UI with substratum etc, it seems to be getting quite hot though, I'll leave it for today and if it doesn't go down I might wipe my phone
How did you read-out the CPU temperatures?
Becaus 38c CPU is really low if you do heavy use your phone.
the temperature could possibly be the battery...
use this App to check the real temperatures... and don´t be afraid.. CPU rises upt to about 75C

I got it from the temperature reading in TWRP? Is that the CPU temperature?
