Cyanogen slow at booting? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I using cyanogen rc2 2.3.3. When. I re-boot it takes a while to load my launcher and to be able to launch an app... is this normal?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I experienced this the most with launcher pro. I use go launcher now and haven't had that issue again.

nightlies are more stable than RC2, so try those if you have problems with RC2

Its not that much of a big deal for me, I will wait for the next RC if its a known issue.

Use them all and decide for yourself or you can search for your answers.

I prefer the stock launcher

well i woke up late this morning. As My CM7 seemed to have died, it was stuck on a screen that looked like the CM7 boot animation screen. Required battery out to restart my phone.... Looks like I will be going with a nightly asap

[App] Sense 3.0 Lock Screen

For those of you who like/love the lock screen of Sense 3.0 then this app is for you. Its called Agile Lock and it has tons of options/settings for things such as changing the font of the lock screen, of course being able to have the 4 app shortcuts on the lockscreen just like Sense 3.0, and much more. I spoke to the dev/one of the devs behind this masterpiece (Bo Zhang) and he seems pretty cool and he said if I/we have any ideas to help improve this app then feel free to email him @ [email protected].
This app can be found in the Android Market by typing in "Agile Lock". There is a free version and a paid version, but I definitely recommend buying the paid version.

Why doesn't it work? Try emailing Bo and tell him. I'm pretty sure he'll make it work. He seems very understanding. I emailed him about 2 ideas and he said one of the ideas will be implemented in the next release and the other will be in the one after that. I just finish emailing him. He's awake!
Edit: I just caught on to what you said. Sounds like its an issue with CM7. Maybe you can contact one of the devs and ask them how to make it work. They should be more than willing to make it work since CM is about personalization.

yea its a really nice app i just restored my ota (2.3.3) rom and it works very nice with it, so it works great with anything ota based and im assuming froyo cuz they have the same lockscreen

Did you restore specifically for this app or you just like the stock rom? I'm on the stock rom also and I personally don't have any issues with it. I honestly must of had one random reboot in opposed to 5-10 on Froyo.

restored to try the app out but i will say cm is my home but on the other hand stock ota is imo pretty effin fast ,it might be the same kernel build (number) as froyo, its not the same kernel if u think about it tho u know? u cant use fauxs stock lg kernel on it and i know its gb, but i think they did things to it cuz its definitely the fastest rom out. u touch and it goes, so idk i might give this a shot now that kingdavid63 has a nice theme for it and this lockscreen its pretty sweet

I agree. I love the stock rom minus not having the LG camera and the radio needs to be updated. Places where I used to have signal I now do not have signal at all.

Love having the sense 3.0 lockscreen, however I have a quick question. I'm on CM7 and i have it applied but the CM7 lockscreen still appears also. I looked in system/apps but did not see a lockscreen apk. How can I disable the CM7 lockscreen?

XDA member Sarni84 mentioned that same issue. I'm on the non rooted Gingerbread OTA so I can't check right now plus I'm at work, but when I get home I can extract the CM7 file to my computer and search through it. In the meanwhile go to the CM7 posting and see if anyone has found a solution or can find a solution. I usually get home around 5-6pm Eastern.

Thanks, I wish I created it. The benefit about this lockscreen is that you still maintain the speed of Gingerbread or Froyo and the beauty of Sense in your lockscreen.

Ya I've tried disabling through cm7 settings with the power notification setting, and through no lockscreen app from the market. Still a no go... I get both lockscreens no matter what. If the issue is fixed that'd be super sweet! I love the lockscreen!!! So nice and pretty

CM7 Launcher

Does anybody know which launcher is cooked into cm7? I thought it was ADWlauncher but it must be highly customized cause the version on the market sucks compared.

It uses AWD Launcher, but I don't know if it makes the EX version feel like crap because when I first flashed CM7 which was in nightly 124, the menu was real laggy, which made me try out AWD Launcher EX and after that it was running perfectly smooth.
I've had both and imo the paid version should have features the included version has like hiding the background on the main dock or removing the ALL catagory or even swiping side to side to change catagories while in the app drawer. CM7 version has these, ADWlauncher Ex does not (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm on Nightly 154 and everything runs so smooth and fast.
CM7 is only steps from becoming Stable. Nightly 160 will be up tonight which will have A2DP enabled.
I prefer to get launcher pro because its smoother for me and try to make it look exactly like the froyo launcher that comes with the phone. Does anyone know how to get that launcher on cm7?

Best Launcher

What' is the best launcher for lg g2x that won't mess up cause lately I have been getting google errors and by contacts lose the name and it just shows the numbers and I will have to reboot my phone then it will all go back to normal but then my launcher messes up like adw for instance I turn my phone back on then it's all weird everything starts back over and my theme is gone?. So I was wondering why the google thing does that and what may be the best stables launcher.

No lag here. GO is super smooth for me. Do you have your phone overclocked or underclocked/undervolted? Or have you installed a custom kernel?
Sounds like your phone is having issues that run deeper than your launcher.
I've tried a few, but I've stuck with GO. Every other one I tried was just disappointing...
and yea, that sounds like a phone issue, not a launcher issue.
No my phone is not rooted at allbits in good shape and the launcher I love and chose is launcher pre its really smooth and very nice but thank you for everything for the opinions appreciate it

I tried it and um its okay but this is off the topic but I wanna know what phone is better in yalls point of view LG g2x our HTC sensation?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'm gonna go with the G2x, I no longer trust in HTC's reliability or in how they put thier stuff together after owning a HD2. Plus, I like the Tegra 2.
Its about preference. If I could go back I would change a thing. Well I would stop the part of dropping my phone and scraping it lol. Other then that I would not change a thing
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I would have probably not dismantled my HD2, you can get more for ones with a cracked screen on ebay than ones that have been completely taken apart, working or not. Plus I hate the fact that HTC tapes their digitizers to their phones, seems kinda hillbilly'ish if you ask me.
The stock launcher from Froyo!
i use go launcher and i think it lags a little but maybe it is just my phone. i still like it though
Thank you once again and ill give go launcher a.second change and I would try the stock froyo ha and LG g2x Tegra is Raw but I hate how this phone reboots by them self it gets annoying at times

Where is it?
Edit: Oops, nvm found it.
its crazy fast and everything seems to be working.
Tried it briefly. Butter smooth.
Wifi calling didn't work. I depend on it now with the crappy dead zone I am in now.
Also miui. I didn't give it a fair chance never tried miui before. I hope it gets ported beyond miui.

Working terrific so far. Looks absolutely identical to regular miui. Except keyboard which is a tiny bit smaller I believe. Also noticibly faster in general. I do recommend it from my experience so far.
been running ICS build since it's availability and everything has been smooth and stable. it "feels" faster than any other MIUI build i've used, but could just be placebo effect unless ICS' hardware acceleration is really working.
i even had wifi calling working a couple times, but this has not been consistent. sometimes it worked and other times i had the "invalid sim" error.
can't really comment on battery life as i'm still re-calibrating.
the only issue i've run into is a Market FC only when i try to swipe through the screenshots for apps...weird.
other than the issue listed above, this rom has been great and error free for me.
tried it out.... hated the Ui would much prefer weapon x ui with ics improvements and toggles going back to weaponx 2.8.
Been using the ICS build. No crazy real world speeds were felt by me. Only going to keep running this build if the battery life is better than the regular one.
Missing extended power menu. Might be missing gps.config fix & APN fix files in this ICS build.
Looks & feels the same as any other MIUI Whitehawkx has ported over.
Installed just now...works great and benchmarks return 2700+. Also, I was having terrible problems with Youtube before with any other MIUI version (very, very, very, verrrrrry slow loading). Now Youtube is faster to load than when it was with Gingerbread.
THANK YOU Whitehawkx!

I've been having problem with galnet video app. It sends me to the market to download an app. When I tried to install the app it gives me an error. Anyone else has the same problem?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I had that happen but only because miui considered it a favorite app and wanted you to submit a rating.
That's the only thing I found impressive was the media player, galnet player. I'd love to see it in cm7 or in a market.
Playing with miui on my G2 just to get a feel for it. Would have moved it to g2x but I need T-Mobile wifi to work
@miuiandroid MIUI Android
These ICS framework MIUI ROMs are a disgrace to the name of MIUI, its not official MIUI ICS so really, why bother making such crap kangs?

Something weird just happened when I installed CM - it installed all my apps for me

Hi
Just flashed into CM.
I don't know how, but it auto downloaded all my apps for me!!!
This has never happen to me before (even thought I have flashed like 10 roms - with vibrant and MIUI).
HOW DID IT DO THAT????
Also, since now I have 3 launchers, I wanted to ask which is the "stock" launcher that CM comes with, and whether I should use it or is it just based on what I like

that probably happened cuz you enabled Google's auto sync which reloads all your apps contacts and so forth.
