[REQ] Clockworkmod for Olipad 100 - G Tablet General

hey folks,
wanted to ask if someone could make CWM for the Olipad 100. hardware seems to be the same as the viewsonic g-tablet.
I flashed CWM 8 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844088
but after that my tablet couldn´t boot into recovery.
I ended up flashing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
but still, I can´t boot into recovery
so, is someone willing to do this? I´ll help however I can.
thanks in advance
Ro.

update
just flashed the CWM image for the Viewsonic G-Tablet from here:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html
and ... I does boot :-D
oh yeah, I´ll test flashing another system.img later. got to get to a costumer right now
Ro.

folks,
I got a question, does the G-Tablet have an input for SIM cards, cause the Olipad does.

OK ... so does anyone want to help make something good from this thing ?

You might be the future modder for this device.
It looks like a GTAB, but it could have some differences on the inside. Given that recovery doesn't work and that it has a SIM slot, it probably is.
Suggestion: If you can get a boot.img out of the device, you could alter clockworkmod to at least boot. I had to do this for TNT Lite 5.00, as the kernel / bootloader are different. But, without a boot.img, you're probaby OOL.
Is there a firmware update file floating around for this thing?

When Olipad come back from service, I have a lot of question for you.
I would try to load a tnt rom if it is possible...

Thread closed, as this is not the correct section. Thank you.

[HELP NEEDED] Magic Value Mismatch

Started reading the forums a few days ago, already planning on getting a gtab for x-mas. So got one at Sears today and went home confident I would know what I am doing. Well I was wrong !!
First mistake: My assumption that this will be as easy as my SGS with clockworkmod. For one, there are apparently CWM versions floating around that are known to cause issues - hence that is the one I ended up with. It installed the CMW fine and went into recovery just like I am used to. Tried to apply the ZPAD 2.2 rom and as soon as I rebooted got the 'Magic Value Mismatch' error at the top of the screen.
Mistake two: trying to fix it by finding the correct CWM called .8 which seemed to make things worse. I got a screen now right after the power and Vol + key that shows alternating black and white strips.
I had this thing only for 3 hours and I already managed to get way past my expertise on fixing this.
What can I do to get the tab to load a recovery image so I can boot?
On the internal SD card there is the folder called 'recovery' with the command file that points to the update.zip on the external sd card. I imagine that is correct. However it did not matter what ZIP file I place on the SD card. For example I renamed all the exising rom's one by one to update.zip to see if one of them would take and no luck.
I am sure someone with more experience can point me to how to get back to normal. I would appreciate some help.
Try This
I had a similar issue with mine about 30 min after I got it. Use your external SD and but the vanilla tnt update.zip and the recovery folder on it. Edit the command file in the recovery folder to say sdcard2 instead of sdcard. This worked for me , Good luck
Thaks for the info.
I created the recovery folder with the command file this time on the external SD card (preped this on the PC) and made sure the vanilla update.zip was on the root of the SD card.
I got a new error about a kernal having a critical error, but I was so frustrated that I did not write it all down.
Then I tried another rom (gtab lite 2.2) and I get the Magic Value Mismatch error again.
It seems like it does not even attempt going into recovery now, because it does not matter if I press the VOL+ and PWR key together. It has the same effect as if I press PWR alone.
I really don't want to give up just yet. If anyone else has any suggestions I am willing to try, plus this experience might help others in a similar situation down the road to recover instead of having to return the device.
I saw a post about some PC based update, but I also seen comments that that could make things even worse. Any ideas?
In the mean time I followed the NVFlash instructions and there is some success and also some loss.
The success is that I no longer get the "magic value mismatch" error. The loss is that my tablet still does not boot and now I have a Nvidia boot screen which will most likely raise a flag with Sears when I return it for an exchange.
I don't want to give up yet, but I really could use some pointers on what else to try.
Here are the instructions I followed for the NVF...

and

and

All I get is the Nvidia logo. The tab has been on for more than 10 min and there is no change.

My nvflash won't help you, at this point. You want bekit's nvflash recovery -- http://forum.tegratab.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8 I know you used mine because you have the Nvidia logo.
The difference between bekit's recovery and mine is that bekit's flashes EVERYTHING, at a low level. Mine isn't that extensive. You definitely want to try Bekit's flash before throwing in the towel.
As for SEARS, I wouldn't worry about it - they probably won't even notice. When I returned my first one, they didn't even open the box. Seriously.

The link you provided (I already went there before) had a link inside to download the necessary fiels but all it did is link to the main forum page. I never was able to find the correct files until this morning I believe. I found another post on these forums that had 'dropbox' links to several files that I downloaded.
So now I ended up with 1) the Tegra MSI installation file 2) the g tab image files and 3) the windows script files with the batch file. I will attempt these tonight and report back.
We are in the middle of moving - finally home owners again at last ;-). I have no internet connection at my new house yet however my SGS and tethering are my friend right now, so I can post and download at a lower rate.
Thaks for the help!!
I wonder what came of this! A feedback would be nice.
Thanks!

I don't know about the other guy, but I borked the Tab tonight, and these instructions worked flawlessly. The links to the apps were stale, but the IRC channel pointed me in the right direction.
Now back to to the Tablet to find out what I need to put back on it.

Hi,
I am just wondering if you can provide a more detail instruction on how this can be fixed? I am a new android user, I am not very knowledgeable. If you can provide some more information, that would be greatly appreciated!
I beleive what you are looking for is in the link posted.

I finally did the nuclear option to get my tablet back. I was in the dummies site when panicking as well, read mismatch was to be a welcome...

[Q] Malata T2 (New)

Here's my question. Being new to this whole tablet scene, I bought a Malata Zpad T2 from China. Of course the first thing I do when I charge it up is to get all the Chinese stuff off of it, so I installed CWM and first installed TNT and it worked great. I couldn't leave well enough alone so i thought I would try another firmware and I think it was Vegan and ran into some problems. I tried again to install it but when I went into the files on the SDCard there was quite a bit of stuff missing. I'm thinking the whole Android 2.2 needs to be reloaded but I'm not sure? Also I tried doing a recovery when things started going screwy but CWM said there was no back-up to recover. (I know I did a back-up). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Howie

I have one of these picked up in Guangzhou recently. Really like it a lot. Based on what you've said, you may have wiped out your backups in the process. If you are unable to boot into clockwork, or get a ROM to load on to the internal SDCard, you may have to use nvflash to restore bare metal.
This may help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
The only concern I would have with that is the ROM listed there is primarily for the Viewsonic version. It should still work. However, if you want to use bits more native to our tablet, you can go here: http://2.hot12.115cdn.com/pickdown/...gIdeas_XL_3.rar&key2=32342e3137392e39332e3536
I believe that you can use that package with the same instructions in the previous link. Let me know if this is over your head. You did say you were new to this.
Also look at this thread:
http://android.modaco.com/content/a...zpad-t2-development-should-also-work-on-vega/
zPad v2's are not the same as the GTAB (or the zPad v1's) in that they have 1GB of RAM. Using straight GTAB ROM's could cause issues.
That "Big Ideas 1222" is an nvflash image - I know this because I've actually used pieces of it in my own ROMs, for the performance enhancements.

Roebeet,
I am currently using a grab rom on the ztab... do you think that the performance would be much better if we moved to the bigideas rom? Also, got a weird issue with the dock status being backwards. Thinks it is docked when it isn't and vice versa.

Finally got BigIdeas installed. Not sure how, as the first time I installed it it came up Chinese? After a reboot it came up in English. Then USB through my laptop wouldn't work so I went into CWM and mounted or unmounted USB, rebooted and now that works. I think my next dilema is I don't think it's reading my 16GB INTERNAL card as being 16GB. I'm at work now but I'll be checkin when I get home. Thanks, Howie

Hello,
Many of us (Malata Zpad T2) still have problems implementing Gingerbread on their tablets.
All the builds i found here are based on the partition-structure of gtablet.
You were gone an other way with new FW TNT V5 based one big idea1222 ROM.
Is there a change to implement this new GB-ROM's on this base.
For Malata Zpad T2 it has the big advantage of having 1Gb RAM and better performance.

Help! NookColor bricked?

Alright, I'm in some really hot water now. The site won't let me go into the proper section because I haven't posted 10 things yet. I believe I've bricked my Nook Color. I had it rooted (1.1) and I wanted to get it back to stock. I tried the 8 failed boots thing, but it only brought up ClockworkModRecovery. I was in a weird half-root stage, so I tried to erase and de-register. I read up on some of your forums, so I tried formatting my /system and /cache from CWR, but then it wouldn't boot past the "N" thing. I went back into CWR and formatted /boot. I thought it would bring /boot back to stock settings and bypass CWR, but instead i think my Nook is bricked now. Should I take it back to barnes and noble with a BS excuse saying it wouldn't turn on today and get a new one? Is there any way to fix this? I feel like the biggest idiot for formatting /boot.
you can post in general in the nook color forums, development is not where you should post
get a bootable cwr sd image and put the stock image on it, then put it in the nook, plug it in
well first thing, answer 10 posts in the next hour, and say "i agree" or "wow that's interesting" Second thing you should read up @ this website first :
http://www.nookdevs.com/Portal:NookColor
This has everything you could want also there is a irc site that is good can't remember what the name is something like nookdevs or something like that in that site there is another link that is a irc dedicated to just helping people with problems. If these 2 resources can't help you fix it then Yes, you may need to return
Well, I rooted my nook FROM the nookColor portal from the start. Where do I get a bootable CWR image?

there should be one there at that site. Remember, on the nook you need CWR installed on the nook but you also need a sd card formatted for CWR image for CWR to work if I remember correctly
its not hard to fix. most likely your boot partition is fubar & you need to repartition it. there's a zip file u can flash to do that for you. feel free to hit me up if you need help

[Q] Help with ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4

Can someone help please? I installed CWM Recovery thru ROM Manager. Rebooted in recovery to back up my ROM and now I can't get out of recovery. Every time I select Reboot System it reboots me into recovery.
Try here (if you can use NVFlash)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519635&highlight=boot+into+cwm
Like many others, When I saw the thread over in the Dev section about the 5.5.0.4 recovery, I jumped right in and fired up Rom Manager before reading any further in the thread.
Unlike many others, I don't get the same results. My TF101 reboots to the OS with no problem. However trying to reboot to recovery from recovery doesn't work. I have to hold the vol. down button just like a cold boot into recovery.
The only difference might be, that I had stock recovery prior to installing 5.5.0.4, due to having to recover from another soft brick condition after trying to install the CM9 Nightly that is now available over on the official Clockworkmod site. That one had failed miserably for my device.
Good luck with solving your problems with the new recovery. Wish I could explain exactly why mine seemed to work as advertised when most others didn't. But I don't know.
I do have the problem with the Removable MicroSD not being visible. Only the built in "Fake" SD Card.
Update:
I now have the reboot into recovery problem. I used the wipe data option from the VOL DWN/PWR button start up, and now have that annoying boots into recovery problem like everyone else. I hope that and the SD card problem gets fixed in the next version.
Thanks, got everything back to normal with NVFlash method I found by watching this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VMHXeYMgPy4
Lesson learned!! :/
Curious where the thread in the Dev section went to, I cant find it this morning...
Unfortunately, some of us cannot use NVFLash to fix this problem.
So, is it too much to ask that the Dev who wrote Rom Manager and CWM actually look in to this for us?
I too installed the newer CWM through Rom Manager and need to cold boot to get in to the OS otherwise it recovery boot loops.

I read the whole thing and apart from NV Flashing the was no other solution
How do you know you can't NVFlash?
yea , this morning the thread in the Dev section went to general , and now closed.
Perhaps we should follow this until everything is clarified.
the nvflash only work for b60 and some b70 tablets , most of b70 and b80 cant be flashed with this tool

too late for us
I was up until 1am following the thread and posting my process, specs.
I am even more curious as to how the thread which was still pretty calm turned in to something that deserved being deleted.
In any event, I think we all understand that what we do is at our own risk. But CWM and Rom Manager have been the gold standard of reliability for quite some time. Once something is a trusted means by which to do something its even more disappointing to see that it no longer works.
the first post was moved because it was not exactly a development post
then, in the general section, I do not know why it closed, there is no explanation

[Q] Tf700t update help

Hi, guys and gals!
I'm new to the forums, I had a question to ask and I apologize now if this might be too broad or maybe just a stupid question(s).
So, I have a ASUS transformer infinity, the Tf700t tablet which is on the 10.6.1.14.4-20130329
And i've been looking around to figure how why the hell this thing is so slow!, And over researching everyone seems to ultimately point to downloading custom roms like updating the tablet with these i guess jailbreaking methods.
A couple months ago I managed to unlock my device (when I load up the tablet, when it says ASUS on the top left if says this device is unlocked).
Now my question is, I found this CROMI-X, forum on this website that tells you how upgrade the device, and it keeps telling me to root my device, which I can't seem to find anywhere the most recent on for the build that i am on (10.6.1.14.4), also I've downloaded TWRP and i was suppost to make a recovery img or something a ".blob" and it was asking me to write down the exact name of my tablet and I can't seem to find where that is, and i guess you can say I got cold feet to accept since it said that my device can get bricked, SO my question would be, is there any kind of guide out there with the latest updates i'm assuming kitkat? for noobies like me or maybe a video tutorial on how to do all this.
Cause i literally only have my device unlocked, I don't think i've actually rooted my device.
But yea that's about it, sorry if im asking for too much i thought this would be my only hope on making this tablet worth my while, cause this thing wont stop lagging (i've tried cold booting and restoring this thing like 10 times nothing seems to be doing the trick).
Thanks again

The Solution
So here is what we did
@duperdavid has his tablet unlocked already....:good:
All I did was help him install fastboot, adb, and Windows drivers which can be tricky.....
We than installed TWRP with fastboot
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob
Than we got him a ROM and a GAPPS
Made a backup with twrp.... Than did a full wipe of internal...
Than he did not have a sd card so we pushed the rom and gapps onto the tablet while it was booted into twrp
Code:
adb push nameoffile.zip /sdcard
Than we flashed new rom & gapps
booted into Rom !!!!! Win
We backed up his Nvflash blobs also
