Samsung Galaxy S - General Questions and Answers

Hi. newbie here..
I successfully flashed darky 9.3 rom..bit here is the problem...I can't access my internal SD card and external SD card. they dont show up on the phone and on the pc if I plug it in.. why is this so?
I tried to restore to my custom rom using clockwork backup/restore and it is successful..after rebooting it gets stuck on the galaxy s logo..
Can anybody help me?

You mean access from your computer or access from the phone itself?
I doubt the phone would boot, if it couldnt access /sdcard.
Did you check the Settings?
Try to select 'Ask on connection'

Same initial problem
I have the same problem. After connecting phone to pc no message on pc nor on phone itself.
While connected to pc phone windows shows something like "one of the devices plugged to usb had a wrong behavior and Windows cannot recognize it"
I wondered why the phone doesn't show the usb connection option anymore.
I tried switching all options (kies, massive storage, ask on connection), reflashed the costum rom and restored factory settings. But no way to establish usb connection.
GT-i9000 with 2.3.3 custom rom since april 2011

Well, suddenly my phone works again. I have usb connection back... I can' t explain it.
But I can flash roms again!

[Q] Boot Loop. USB not recognized. SD Card won't mount

Essentially What's wrong:
My phone is stuck in a boot loop, computers won't recognize the usb connection, and my sd card won't mount. My SD card is, however, recognizable if I plug it directly to my computer using an adapter.
What Happened:
I rooted my phone using CWM and Odin in order to remove bloatware and enable tethering. After enabling tethering, my computer stopped recognizing my phone. I tried everything to fix it including factory resetting my phone, formatting cache, data, system, and sd card all under the CWM boot menu (hold volup+home+power). Soon afterwards, my phone got stuck in a boot loop. On startup, it hangs on the white "Samsung" logo. While trying to fix the issue, I noticed that my sd card won't mount.
What I've tried:
I've tried this method, but it requires that I either have usb access or access to my phone. I've tried reinstalling the Samsung driver fifteen times. I've tried formatting the SD card in my computer. I've tried using different computers. I've tried using different usb cords. I've tried clearing the registry on my computer, I've tried scouring Google and these forums for a solution. Maybe I'm blind and missed something.
What I'm trying to do:
The way I see it, I need to figure out a way to flash the stock rom back to my phone. In order to do this, I need to get my usb to recognize. If I can do this, the rest is easy. Does anyone has any ideas on what can be done?

The phone not connecting: I have had this issue before. If you go into the device manager on the computer and show all devices, you can remove all the samsung usb drivers and the root usb drivers from the computer. Reboot the computer and leave the phone unplugged. it will reinstall the main drivers. reboot the phone and hold the buttons to enter recovery, it should still work even while stuck on samsung logo. connect the phone to pc and it should reinstall the drivers and connect properly.

Do you remember at all the name of the drivers that need to be uninstalled? When I plug in my Droid Charge, the computer attempts to install the drivers but it always fails. Under device manager I will then see "unknown deviced" labeled with a yellow exclamation mark. I uninstall that, then plug the phone back in but the same error occurs.
If there are other drivers that I need to uninstall, then I don't know what they're called. None of the devices in the manager say anything referring to samsung.

go to device manager and choose: view >> show hidden devices
then under the usb drivers look for and uninstall the SAMSUNG if any and uninstall the : Generic USB Hub if any, and uninstall USB Root Hub if any, and reboot computer.
THANK YOU
How don't know how I managed to miss this when trying to fix this over the past week+, but it worked. Getting rid of those root usb devices got my computer to recognize my phone, then I was able to easily use Odin to boot it back to the stock rom. Thank you so much. Crazy how such a simple solution can be the answer.

Hello, have tried uninstalling the USB drivers but Windows 10 re-installs these drivers upon restart. My Samsung SM-N750 is still not detected on via USB, and therefore cannot proceed with Odin firmware flash. Do you have any other suggestions? Many thanks.

[Q] Need a Rom to flash in Android System Recovery

Hello. Newb here so sorry if i make lots of mistakes.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) n8010 that is stuck in a boot loop, only flashing up the Samsung note logo then rebooting.
I am able to get into Android system recovery and Odin mode on the tablet.
It reads the SD CARD.
I have wiped data, factory reset and wiped cache partition.
It will not connect to my PC (tried 3 different ones) via the usb cable. I have the drivers installed via the Samsung_Galaxy_Note_ToolKit but the PC's just say USB Device Not Recognized unknown Device Hardware device not connected to this computer (Kies is not installed).
So i cant use the PC to connect to the tablet to use the tool kit or ODIN to flash any recovery.
Does this mean its most likely a hardware problem?
Faulty cable?
Is there a STOCK/CUSTOM ROM that i can install using the ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY via a .zip file that i can put on the SD CARD that will pass the signature verification to set it booting normally?
Thank you in Advance for any advice or suggestions.

I have seen this condition a lot lately.
How old is your Note 10.1, do you have the original factory cable and what condition is it in?
Not being able to connect to your computer is not good.

I bought it 0ct 2012 so its passed the 1 year warranty. Haven't contacted Samsung yet.
If it becoming common then is a mass complaint of all the effected units in order?
The cable is the original factory one. Seems fine on the outside. It charges normally and the PC sees it connected but just as an unknown device.
Tried to connect with the Kies (after downloading and installing) not still no connection.
Might try connecting it to my sisters Mac book tonight.
Buy a new cable?
Any repairers in the England sussex area to fix if worst comes to the worst?
Thanks

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy s2 GT-i9100 Bootloop not recognized by odin

My sgs2 is stuck in a boot loop, computers won't recognize the usb connection, and my sd card won't mount on philz touch 5 V6.0.3.7 My SD card is, however, recognizable if I plug it directly to my computer using an adapter.

I tried everything to fix it including factory resetting my phone, formatting cache, data, system, and sd card all under the CWM boot menu (hold volup+home+power). I need to figure out a way to flash the stock rom back to my phone. In order to do this, I need to get my usb to recognize or manage to have phil touch 5 v 6.0.3.7 mount the sd card. If I can do this, the rest is easy. Does anyone has any ideas on what can be done? please please assist!
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. With the device booted into download mode and connected to the PC does anything show up in device manager? Possibly an icon with a yellow exclamation mark. Use USB 2.0 ports in the back of your PC and try different cables.

[Q] SM-G920F hangs on startup

Hi,
My Phone is now hanging up at the ":
"Samsung Galaxy S6 powered by android" screen
I can still get into recovery and downloadmode.
The pc "sees"the internal storage, but it wont allow me to copy a rom or anything to it,so that i may reflash a rom
Also if i use the "kies"or "smartswitch" programme, it says it cant connect to the Phone.
if reinstelled the samsung driver via kies
Also i have tried deleting the kies and driver from the pc, rebooting and reinstalling kies and driver, bit still the same result
It seems to me that if i could get a rom back on the internal storage i would be able to flas a new rom and get things working again?
Can anyone assist?
thaanks in advance
