Hello
I just started getting a "USB device not recognized" error when I connect my Gtab to my PC. I have tried 2 different USB cables, and 2 different PC's, still getting the same error. I flashed it back to factory settings, thinking it may be a software issue, but it's still doing it. I managed to get the "USB connected" message 1 time on the tablet after many reboots and unplugging and plugging back in, but when I selected "turn on USB storage", it never showed up on my PC, and it's back to giving me the not recognized error.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
same thing here on Vegen GB

I've had my g1 for about 2 weeks. I have root. I have the RC33 update. I was able to connect to a pc after this update then one day I tried to get this song off of the computer so I plugged in the phone and it said "found new hardware"....I have tried everything different pc's different usb ports, different storage cards,....I tried the anycut app method....failed on one pc it opened on my laptop and then shut off again....I've soft reset, hard reset...removd the card and put it back in...no luck...any one with the answer please help...I will love you long time!
And the pc does recognize the phone is plugged up because its charging...
Hi,
Found new hardware means it was trying to install the usb drivers for your g1.
If this was not done correctly, than several things won't work like adb.
So that's what that message is.
But unplug your phone and go into settings, applications, development uncheck the box that says usb debugging,
Exit out and connect your cable, mount you drive and you can transfer files back and forth again.
Ok I did that but the box was already unchecked...so I plugged up the phone...and nothing happens so I check the box and the g1 acknowleded the pc and vise versa....and the installation wizard is for Android Phone...and is asking for an installation disk...so now I'm back to square 1...
Once you have plugged in the USB cable and Windows has recognized your phone (i.e. no new hardware found dialog anymore), you need to pull down the notification bar of the G1 and click on "connected to USB" or something along those lines. The phone will then give you an option to mount the SD card for read/write over the USB cable.
I was recently staying with some mates and tried connecting my HTC Legend to their laptop to transfer files, but the Legend did not recognize it was connected to a computer, just had the charging icon as if the cord was plugged into power.
I have the 'Default connection type' as Disk Drive, 'Ask me' each time option enabled.
On the computer, no autoplay or anything happens like it used to. I can see a removable disk drive, but it has the "Please insert a disk into drive X" error when I try open it.
I can access the SD card and everything fine through the phone..
Anyone know what's up?
Cheers
EDIT: Stock unrooted Legend
EDIT: Nevermind, rebooted phone and it works now.. sorry
This exact same thing started happening to me last night as well. I can see the drives in "My Computer", but they are greyed out and give me the "Insert drive to continue" error message. What gives?

I'm having an issue where my thunderbolt is not recognized by my PC any longer. I used to have it set up with pdanet and everything worked well for about a week. All of a sudden, any computer i tried to plug the device into, wouldn't detect the phone. A friend of mine has tried his thunderbolt on my computer and it detects it.
When plugging my phone in, it pops up an error message with "USB Device not Recognized." In the device manager, the phone shows up as Unknown Device. I have tried this on 3 different pc's, using 3 different data cables. No USB symbol displays on the taskbar of the phone when I plug it in, however, it does charge.
What I have tried:
Changing data cables.
Using another PC.
Uninstalling device drivers and letting windows re-detect and install.
Downloaded HTC Sync and ran it after uninstalling drivers again and re-plugging the phone.
Changed different Connection settings on the phone, such as USB Debuggin on/off, and changing it to HTC Sync Mode, Charge Only, Disk Drive, etc
Mounted and unmounted SD Card in the phone settings.
OS: Windows 7 x64
Is there anyone out there that can help?
Thank you for any information you may provide.
I remember that one of my friend's desire cannot be detected by the pc before, he search the forum and find out that he need to change something in the driver files before installing the driver. I'm not sure if that will work in your case thought..
I am running Froyo 7 with Glemson's latest build (9/14) on my HTC Touchpro II. When I connect my phone to my computer, the computer recognizes the phone as a mass storage (the popup on the computer indicates the device driver is installed and the drive appears under "Devices with removable storage",) but when I try to browse it, I get the famous "Please insert a disk into removable disk X".
The phone says "USB connected" and sometimes will periodically pop up with the message "USB Connected" and a button saying, "click to turn on USB storage". When I click the button, the spinner starts, but nothing happens.
I have turned on "USB debugging" on android.
I am able to use the same cable/USB port for data transfer between my computer and phone (when the phone is running windows mobile 6.1) In fact, this is the only way I am able to transfer data to my phone. It works, but it is a pain in the butt!
I have Googled in this forum and www, but have not found a solution yet. Any help would be most welcome.
no-one has any suggestions?
This has been driving me crazy for months...
Am I the only one with this problem?
hmm. interesting
Out of the blue my phone can no longer get recognized by any of the 3 PCs that I have, getting a message "USB Device Not Recognized".
The USB connection mode choice window on the phone does not pop up. The phone does go into charging mode, with LED and taskbar icon working.
Things I've tried:
1. Multiple USB cords (original Sony one, cheap Amazon one, bunch of others). Nexus 4 gets recognized instantly using all of these on all 3 PCs.
2. Multiple PCs and multiple USB ports on different hubs.
3. Restarted the phone and all PCs to no avail.
4. Factory reset the phone.
5. Tried manually setting the MTP mode in settings prior/after o connecting the phone.
Any other ideas?

This issue is in PC side
it means you should reinstall drivers on PC
first install PC Companion & if nothing changed try to install drivers manually
