[Q] Is there a VNC SERVER App for Android so I can control my phone from my Mac? - HTC Inspire 4G

I know in the past there have been threads on this, but they're all 1-3 years old. What's the best client I can use on my handheld?
I just came from iOS, where I had a client that allowed me to control my iPhone's screen from my computer (MAC), so when I'm sitting at my desk I can send\receive text messages from my phone without having to pick up the phone.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I can't believe it's been 24 hours and nobody has replied
I think it's actually a VNC SERVER we need... to view your desktop on the phone, you'd install a CLIENT on the Inspire 4G, but to view your Inspire 4G on the desktop, you need a VNC host\SERVER on the inspire.
There's several options on iPhone, and whatever iPhone does, Android does 10x better, so there must be server apps available for Android, I just wish someone would tell me what it's called.

Pocket cloud supports vnc but it isn't free.

From what I see, PocketCloud is like GoToMyPC, not really a point to point solution like I'm looking for. I just want to VNC\Screen share my android within my home network.

Yeah this is a CLIENT app... in other words, it allows me to control my computer from my phone. I want the other way around. I want to control my PHONE with my computer.
I want to be able to leave my phone in my pocket, VNC into my phone so I can check and reply to a text that comes in from my computer's screen without having to take the phone out of my pocket.
Make sense?

Searched the market and found a VNC server app, but I'm having difficulties getting it to work, it's buggy, hopefully someone knows of a better app.

I use WebKey https://market.android.com/details?id=com.webkey And it works beautifully. Its not quite a VNC app but it does what i want it to

This looks REALLY promising, thanks! I'll play with it but I think it'll do the trick

I use Teamviewer and it's awesome! Best remote utility i've used in ages and I've been using them since the dawn of time (ok.. maybe not that long but hey.. a long time)

Thanks for the tip, but like I said I'm looking for a VNC SERVER (so I can control my Android from my computer), not a VNC CLIENT as you suggested. Thank You!

May want to change the title for this thread then, it says client even though at least to me what you want is clear, I don't know of any offhand though.
Which one did you try already?

WebSharing app = awesome!

Just wanted to share. I decided to pay for the WebSharing pro since I've gotten tired of all this usb mounting error garbage. Its AMAZING. Works fast and simple over wifi or 3G. I may never use a usb cable again. TWO THUMBS UP!

Add adb wireless to the mix, and you really don't need the cable. Now if only they had some sort of wireless charging...
Dropbox seems to work well for, in regards to sharing documents between my phone and pc.

I was really wanting this until about a week ago when I realized. Hey I enjoy using my phone while it charges and not just have it sitting on a mat mostly unusable.

May I suggest an ftp server, like swiftp (free).
Websharing compare to an ftp server is like comparing the flintstone to the jetson.

+3 i use dropbox for all my mod downloads.... db plus bit.ly address shrinker... awesome. keeps track of how many downloads, were they are downloaded from, and even what country they are being downloaded from. pretty cool!
Guess I didn't describe it enough. Its not really just a drag and drop like Dropbox. Its a wireless file explorer. Think: AndExplorer on your comp only with a windows look

Mesmerize as a bluetooth keyboard

Was wondering If there was a program that lets u use a android device as a bluetooth keyboard. im looking to use my mesmerize as a bluetooth keyboard with my PS3.
Just a thought. Check out unified remote in the market. I use it as a wifi keyboard on my computer. They have a version 2 out but its not in the market. You have to go to they're website to get it. Its in beta right now and I keep getting kicked off their server but they'll get the bugs worked out

I haven't been able to find one yet.. Several XDA members have been looking into writing an app but to my knowledge nobody has gotten far with it...
If you find one that works please let us know!!!
I'm wanting one to control the blu ray player and everything a normal remote would do...
I just saw an app for that in appbrain, also in the market. It's called PRemotedroid. Its says its a wifi/Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I've never used it but it might be worth a shot

That is correct, for the PC. Has to have the server software installed on the PC.
Has anyone had any experience with App Inventor for Android?
If so maybe you should read up on this..

Wonder if we could make our own ps3 bluetooth remote

PhoneMyPC works flawlessly any time i use it. I got overly frustrated with all the other programs out there. Sometimes i get lazy and I use it as a mouse when i'm lying in bed.
The pc software has been running in win7 for months and it never seems to conflict with any other programs.
get it
I have used Unified Remote with good success on several android devices with my multimedia pc that's hooked to the TV in the living room. My wife likes me using my tablet or phone better than the wireless keyboard.

App to control your computer from your phone?

I remember seeing an app where you can actually view your computer's homescreen directly on your phone and control is. What app is this?
Also, do you need to be on the same wifi to control it or could I be away from my house and still control my home computer from my phone?
TeamViewer is your answer.
You can find it in the Market.

Sweet, thanks! How exactly do you set this up? And can you control the computer when you aren't on your home wifi? And does anyone need to be at the computer to "activate" something?
Splashtop hd.. Install app.. Install program on computer connect them up and bobs ya sister lol
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
You go to their website and download the PC or MAC or Linux client. Then you set up an account from the client and make sure under settings you tell it to allow all connections and tweak the settings to your liking.
Then go on your phone, log in to the app, select the computer and boom! Your desktop shows up.
I'm not sure if it works on 3G/4G since I don't have a data plan but its flawless over wifi. Anf it does work outside of your home wifi network.
And no, if you tweak the settings no one has to be at the computer to "activate" it.

Sick!!! Good to know, now I can access my computer anywhere....
The best one is Logmein
It even supports my dualmonitors. Definitely worth it for this app guys.
I use team viewer, i have it controlled on my netbook, desktop and phone. and i use a common password so whereever i go I can always access all 3 things
very useful.
also, choose the setting that doens't give you a new password everytime you end a session.
do they have gotomeeting or citrix?

I'm fairly certain the remote desktop protocol in newer MacOS revisions is based on VNC.

it is. that being said, i tried to set up android vnc viewer to work with my infuse/macbook pro running lion, and it made my computer go nuts.
even when i wasn't using the app, it ate up all of my system resources. it made my computer pretty much unresponsive, and it made my computer heat up to 200+ degrees F. this persisted through several reboots. i still cannot pinpont how i fixed it, but eventually i was able to get the computer back to normal.
haven't been brave enough to try again.
Yikes! Mac is not fun for interfacing with my infuse. I guess Ill just keep em apart. Thanks for the feed back¡
