Switch to 2G when connected to Wifi - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

hi,
is there a way that my phone automatically switches from 3G to 2G, when connected to a Wifi network?
I figured, the only reason why I need 3G, is because of the fast mobile internet connection......which I wont be using anyway, while I'm connected to a Wifi-Network
so it would make alot of sense to switch the cellular network from 3G to 2G, to save battery....
is there an app for that?

okay, well...tasker can easily do that
I think I got my solution

3G/HSDPA traffic while connected via WIFI

It looks like my TC is using HSDPA network (about 100k/hour) even during the time I am connected via wifi. Is that a normal behaviour, or can I force it to automatically disconnect HSDPA while using wifi?
It depends on how you setup your routing.
If you have your wifi network set as your "work / business" network and hsdpa as your internet access. It'll ofcourse route all trafic over hsdpa.
Check your wifi connection and set the appropriate network type. This setting is done for every access point. It's not a global wifi setting afaik.
The wifi connection is setup as internet, so that is not the problem.
What I find is that both wifi and 3g are active. I can turn off 3g by turning off data connection in the comm manager, leaving me with the sole wifi connection (and internet access of course). However, as soon as the TC goes to sleep it will come back with both 3g and wifi. What I found also is that it is quicker to initialise the HSDPA connection than to wifi one.
Is there a way to force it to check it for wifi connection first, and then only connect to HSDPA if no wifi is available?
Sorry, that I don't know.
And I can't be bothered by it here in NL. As we've got flatrate utms/hsdpa here with a number of providers.
At home I only turn on Wifi if the umts/hsdpa connection is instable.

Only use 2G when connected to WIFI

Hi Forum,
I have a really bad Network and in buildings I am constantly low on 3G reception. When i switch to 2G, it is way better. At work, at home and at my friends, I have WiFi, so I don't need 3G for a fast data connection. On the bus, however, I do use 3G and it's working fine.
So, what is the simplest way to automatically switch to "GSM Only" when I connect to a WiFi and switch back to "GSM auto (prl)" automatically when I disconnect from a wifi?
I tried EasyProfiles and UltimateJuice so far, both are too feature-rich, but I failed to configure them properly (and for EasyProfiles, the feature is still too bugged)
Thank you in advance
in Leedroids ICS rom there is a box to tick to activate this in settings-power

WiFi won't disconnect when out of range

Hi all,
I have HTC One S from T-Mobile and noticed a big problem with my WiFi connection.
My phone will connect automatically to the wifi network in my home/work correctly, but when I leave and am clearly out of range of my wifi network (say, a km away), the phone still claims to be connected to the network, but I of course have no actual connectivity. The signal strength it reports has varied, from full strength to just a few bars.
I try giving it a minute, but it seems stuck and refuses to officially disconnect from the network. The only way to fix things is to toggle my wifi on and off, at which point it goes to mobile data since it can't find any wifi networks to connect to.
The thing is that I use Wireless Bluetooth headphones and since I started using my new phone, the signal drops (I believe it is because of the Wi-Fi not disconnecting from the network and is causing disruptions to the bluetooth connection).
Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Phone Showing Wifi AND Cellular Signal

Hello, If my phone is showing both a signal to Wifi as well as 3G/H+ etc, what connection is it using? Im assuming its to do with the smart switch between Wifi/ Cellular on which is stronger, so in theory it uses Cellular data? Anyone with any ideas?
Cheers
If your WiFi is working fast your phone always goes for the WiFi, and the mobile data is not used.. You won't get an h+ when you get connected to the WiFi as it will be on standby while the phone users WiFi as primary network!
Hope it helps!

Question regarding WiFi and Cellular connection.

When my mobile phone is connected to WiFi is it still accessing 4G, 3G or 2G?
I'm asking as ive been having an issue where my phone signal is really bad when I'm connected to Wifi at home or work and my network (Vodafone) has advised me to switch to 2G when this happens. But if I'm connected to WiFi will this have any bearing? As from my understanding the phone is actually downloading data from the WiFi not a cellular network?
Thanks.
