Hi everyone,
I do apologise if this has come up before, but I couldn't find anything through searching. Basically I did a factory restore on a Star A3000 to try to cure a problem with the touch screen calibration.
When it restarted I realised that it was not detecting the SIM (which works in another phone). Being new to Android I had assumed that doing a factory restore would be much like on a Windows Mobile phone, but it looks like I have got more than I bargained for!
Can anyone tell me what's gone wrong and how to fix it, please?

You will need MauiMeta software and "Flashing cable" to write IMEI back to the phone.
Look for "After a factory reset, both IMEIs are invalid. site:china-iphone.ru" in Google (without quotes, first link, i cannot post direct links, sorry)
This thread definitely contains instructions needed by you, but in Russian -- "Прошивка Star A3000 (Android2.1, GPS,WIFI,TV,FM,MTK 6516,25)" in Google.

3) Perform same action for SIM2 Detect
4) Do not power off phone yet, but go to Version menu and then leave thid menu.
5) Exit from Factory Mode by selecting Reboot menu (just disconnecting battery is not preferred).
6) After normal rebooting phone should ask, what SIM do you wish to use. Select both SIMs."
After these actions IMEI may be restored, but I did not tested this personally.

Thanks again for your help. I tried this as it looked simpler than a flash cable, but the phone keeps locking up. I don't think it is very happy at the moment! It doesn't want to do the SIM test so I guess I'm back at the start.
Concrete instructions for creating and using flashing cable (in Russian, sorry. Use google translator):

On found page (china-iphone forum) you need to perform steps 1. and 3.
Before modifying "regular" USB cable (from phone's kit) to Flashing cable installing MTK-modem-drivers for "regular" USB cable is MANDATORY.
USB-COM converter for cable modifying can be given from USB cable for Simens C60 and many other mobile phones.
Cable pinout for Star A3000:
4 -GND
8 - Tx
10- Rx
Contacts for pins 8 and 10 can be reinstalled by tweezers from unused pin positions
Archive with MAUI META program contains video-instructions. Follow them exactly.
MAUI META program will prompt for 20101224_e1000_klx2(recovery") file. It can be downloaded from www . us . ua / 147373 / (without spaces).
If you, for some reasons, cannot register on "china-iphone" forum and therefore cannot download attachments from there, contact me and I will repost them for you to some file-hostihg service.
P.S. Don't be confused by the fact, that mentioned instructions are for H6 phone. Star A3000 and H6 have _very_ similar hardware and can run firmwares from each other.
P.P.S. If you cannot create flashing cable at the moment, I can send to you full backup of filesystem content of my Star A3000 phone. (~130MB in archive).
There is no guarantee, but restoring my content of /data partition ("Restore to factory settings", as I know, wipes /data partition only. If I am wrong, correct me.) to your phone may (or may not) restore _my_ IMEI to your phone. If it works, it will be great.
Some additional unconfirmed info for "regular" USB cable -- changing IMEI via AT-commands:
Brief translation:
IMEI 1 change
AT+EGMR=1,7,"IMEI"
(in place of IMEI - real imei digits).
Second IMEI change
AT+EGMR=1,10,"IMEI"
(in place of IMEI - real imei digits).
By the way, first command's parameter: 0-read, 1-write.

1. Для смены IMEI 1 и IMEI 2 через программу гипертерминал
Смена IMEI 1
AT+EGMR=1,7,"IMEI"
(вместо IMEI - реальные цифры imei).
Второй IMEI меняется командой
AT+EGMR=1,10,"IMEI"
(вместо IMEI - реальные цифры imei).
Кстати первый параметр команды: 0-чтение, 1-запись.
at+egmr=0,7
+EGMR: "135790246811220" - просмотр первого IMEI
at+egmr=0,10
+EGMR: "135790246811220" - просмотр второго IMEI
2. Попытка смены ИМЕИ через Hyperterminal:
1) подключай аппарат в режиме ком-порт к компу через стд шнурок (тот что с ним в поставке идет),
если используешь виндовс - вызывай hyperterminal - выбирай вирт.порт на котором висит аппарат,
подключившись набирай AT - в ответ должен получить OK в окне гипертерма. - т.е. через компорт подключен, далее
2) набираешь тестовую команду (определяет поддерживается ли смена IMEI)
AT+EGMR=?
если поддерживается (ОК)- вбивай новый
AT+EGMR=1,7,"IMEI"
(вместо IMEI - реальные цифры imei).
p.s. *#06# на клавиатуре аппарата - посмотреть imei.
3. Дополнение к п.2.
а)Если двухсимовик - второй imei меняется командой
AT+EGMR=1,10,"IMEI"
(вместо IMEI - реальные цифры imei).
Кстати первый параметр команды - нолик-чтение, единичка-запись.
at+egmr=0,7
+EGMR: "135790246811220" - просмотр первого IMEI
at+egmr=0,10
+EGMR: "135790246811220" - просмотр второго IMEI
Если они различаются то по *#06# на клавиатуре аппарата отображаются оба, если совпадают - только один.
б) Проверь команду at+elnvrm=?
если ответит +ELNVRM: (1) значит кто-то выдал команду AT+ELNVRM=1
это блокировка записи в NVRAM. Она действует до отключения питания NVRAM и выскивание акумулятора не помогает - говорят на плате есть батареечка.
У меня была такая ситуация, помогли танцы с бубнами, причём теоретически мой результат необъясним.
Имей менялся для неактивной СИМ.
Оключаю СИМ1(режим 2СИМ - только СИМ2), ставлю шину uart на СИМ2(Установки телефона-настройки UART), меняю имей для СИМ1.
Оключаю СИМ2, ставлю шину uart на СИМ1, меняю имей для СИМ2.
Попробуй разные комбинации, можешь вообще выдернуть Симки может что получится.
If MAUI META method fails for some reasons, try this trick:
Восстановил сегодня "трупик" А3000, скончавшегося в декабре прошлого года - проблемы с NAND памятью: перепрошивался легко, но при попытке восстановления IMEI с помощью программы MauiMeta (и других) кроме перевода телефона в режим Meta mode больше ничего! :-(
Попробуй - может и у тебя получится с твоим аппаратом. Вот последовательность моих действий:
1) Flash klx2 version with modified recovery

WARNING! Before flashing this firmware these steps are needed:
- unpack archive, containig firmware;
- using program SP_Update_L1048_V3.1.1 ( http://us.ua/158039/ ) load firmware's scatter-file and select correct driver for your phone's camera, OV3640 for 3.2Mpix camera, SID130B for 2 Mpix camera.
You can also try updated version of this program -- SP_Update_L1104_V3_2_4 http://us.ua/173145/
2) install update signed_031311_041020- http://us.ua/180198/ from SD-card
3) check SIM-cards in Factory mode ('Test item' and 'Version') - all, except IMEIs, should be OK
4) Using program MauiMeta 6.1032, restore IMEI in 'IMEI download' mode (you may perform multiple tries for 'Meta mode' entering)

Virtual COM-port for these commands appears only for few seconds after connection battery to the phone.
same problem with a3000 and a5000. is there an adb command that can write imei?
I was surprised that moderator Mr.Madnish suddenly closed a thread on China iPhone Clon H2000 calling it IMEI spoofing while there was never an exchange of any IMEI numbers between any of the contributors but the thread to which I am posting is still alive. Wonder what made him close it? All the contributors to that forum faced identical problem faced by those in this thread. Well...only Mr.Madnish knows perhaps!!!

I was on the right track but did not get it to work.
Finally after reading some more on the different forums, I found a suggestion that got me very close to success.
Since vramool has a cable that combines COM and USB in one cable, it made good sense to set the USB ports for both cables for me to the same port.
That made is easy to switch from flash cable to normal USB cable for the download part. Now I also understand the "Flash + USB" setting in the multiportflashtool...
I also found that the backup files that I made with ADB do not work for flashing the phone. For this purpose I used the files that I downloaded from Zzappo some time ago.
Thanks to all for the suggestions and the help. My phone is alive and kicking and IMEI's are also back

Well discussion on CLONE PHONES/IMEI ( even if you don't disclose it ! ) IS NOT ALLOWED on XDA.
If you had an issue, there is a PM button for you to hit and contact me rather than post in a section.
If you make another section about clone phones or IMEI discussions it shall be removed/shut again and you could earn yourself a vacation from XDA.
Next time, use the PM button - shall be a better medium to communicate.

so, i eject SD-card, worked on notebook, all was good. when I insert a card in my S110 - no happiens. The card was not finded by PDA. I eject and insert again - PDA don't see the card. When SD card inserted on slot and i press "power-off" button - PDA freezed, need "reset". i was inserted another card, but problem still there... Hard reset and flashing not helped... please, help me!
в общем, вынял я флэшку, нужно было на ноуте ее использовать, все было прекрасно. когда всунул снова в кпк - ничего не произошло, он ее просто не видел. я высунул и всунул ее снова - тоже ничего не изменилось. когда нажал на выключение экрана - КПК просто завис, пришлось перезагружать. решил сделать хард-резет - это не помогло, так же не помогла перешивка... помогите пожалуйста

Is that SD card a plain memory card or SDIO that has other functions (like wifi)?

1. bad backup battery (that be under speaker)
2. bad battery signal button (that is small lever under cap)

About: This simple utility is used for converting between

1.Скачать и установить драйвера ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows.rar ( 8,78 МБ )
2.Скачать ADB adb.zip ( 1,04 МБ )
3.Распаковываем архив ADB Например: c:\adb\
4.Настраиваем телефон.
Для этого в телефон->настройки->для разработчиков- помечаем Отладка по USB.
При подключении USB-кабеля выбираем Только зарядка.
Проверяем соединение на компьютере.
5.Создаем в распакованной папке adb файл devices.cmd (проверяем что .cmd это расширение файла а не его имя) и пишем туда:
adb shell
sm list-disks
pause
6.Запускаем созданный файл
7.В запустившейся командной строке пишем
sm list-disks нажимаем Enter
Появится disk:NNN,NN
8.Пишем sm partition disk:NNN,NN private где NNN,NN цифры из предыдущей команды после двоеточия, Enter
Всё готово,отключаем телефон от компьютера,проверяем на телефоне во вкладке хранилище,пользуемся

Once your phone is rooted, the app "Root Essentials" has a tool to turn an sd card into "adoptable storeage" i.e. format the card to make it part of system storage.
1. on the phone, enable debugging mode by checking the box next to the item "always allow work in debugging mode"
2. Run notepad and open VoLTE-OP 7. cmd in it, put down your operators. Save. To run.
3. wait for the installation of the oemlogkit_1.0-1 package and without disconnecting the phone - enter on the phone via numpad *#800*
open Function Switch - check the boxes VoLTE Switch + VoWiFi Switch + VT Switch (ignore questions about rebooting)
4. go back to the window on the computer and press any key
5. wait

открыть Function Switch - проставить галки VoLte Switch + VoWifi Switch + VT Switch (вопросы о перезагрузке игнорировать)
4.вернуться к окну на компе и нажать любую клавишу
5.ждать
