Is there a way to use tv-out to connect to a pc monitor with a special micro-usb cable? If so, what are you experience using it this way?
There are some threads about this that can be found by doing a search.
probably would of been quickier to type "yes" or "no"
I did a search and did not find anything for captivate
Bump for this.. Would definitely like to try that out!

Try searching in the Accessories subforum.
Sucks because Samsung was planning on making a MicroUSB to HDMI but scrapped the idea.
That would have been really cool!

RCA cables *shudder* didn't think I would ever have to use those damn things again. Wish they would have came out with the mini usb > hdmi cable oh well.
now the thing is... is there something like a composite to rgb adapter? for most modern tv/monitors it wont be an issue because of multiple input alternatives, but if the only input is rgb (vga), what can be done?

Looks like this is just the interface that allows tv, power, and audio outs at the same time through the mini usb, i'm still trying to find this out myself but i'm fairly sure thats what it is
Obviously I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I'm running a custom rom, the valhalla final. I recently purchased a tv out cable from samsung. It doesn't work on any tv I have. Is it because the tv's I own are older? Or does it have something to do with my rom? If this is the case can anyone suggest a rom whrere tv out works? Please help me!!
Did you go to display settings and turn on the TV out option? If so and it still doesn't work, it may be a TV issue. I've been able to use it on all the TV's I've tried.

You need to switch the yellow (video) input with the red (audio) input when connecting to TV.

I've actually found that only applies to certain TV's for some reason. It's weird. But good point, I forgot about that.

Typically this would be reversed, meaning it would depend on the cable used. The phone sends the video signal on the same output.
I tried any color combination possible. NOthing work. My guess so far is the tv that stoned yoda was talking about. And yes, to answer your question, I chcked tv out. I get a bad picture with static and stuff. By the way, after thinking about it, the switching the cables wont work. That only applies if you don't buy the samsung cable, which I did. The samsung cable has a converter in it. Samsung switched the terminals to give you the illusion you had to buy from them. So I guess Im gonna find a newer tv and try it.....stoned yoda do you run a custom rom?
Mine work on 15 year old anolog television. How much older could your tv be?

Why not use one of these? I use it all the time when I'm in hotels that don't have wireless.

The screen is matched only by the Retina display. Best Android screen on the market. We've had 4 or 5 updates so far, including JB as one of the first non-Google companies.

I have some friends that work for the government and their in the same boat as you. They aren't even allowed to use wireless when their traveling and it's available.
Thanks for this, sounds good. Only thing left to work out is line in then i guess, if someone could test this for me it would be really helpful. Its the last piece of the puzzle i think.
One other question, i take it the only "pairing" the tablet does with the keyboard is just being plugged in? The reason i ask is that if i buy a couple of tablets and keyboards (me and the mrs) can we just swap the keyboards round without any pairing faff?

As far as I know, you can interchange the docks. There's a driver for it installed in Android from the start. There's no personalized settings or anything stored in the dock itself. Plug and Play.

If you are located outside the US in Europe this would be your answer.
If you're a US user then your stuck with the complex USB adapter scenario it seems.
perfect, that actually looks just what im after, simple easy and with cat5 in built. shame it doesnt have line in then it really would be ideal!
edit: just need to find someone that will actually supply it to me now!
Okay this may sound strange, but is it possible to connect my galaxy note to my sony tv? Is their any way?
You're being very vague.
If you mean via HDMI then yes, it can be done.
This has been covered before dude, use the search button.

Hi,
I know it's a too general and broad question, but I was hoping to get some clues or facts. Googling wasn't exactly fruitful with keywords like these.
I'm thinking of a project at my uni, and I kinda need to know would an average andriod phone be able to charge other devices via its USB port? Of course, if the answer isn't affirmative in general, maybe I could get some tips as to how could I find out which specific android smartphones are?
In any case, thanks for you time.
Cheers!

I'd also like to know. I'd like to power a secondary low-power (OLED) display, with data coming from the phone as well. Can it power an arduino?
Yes. Sometimes I charge my HTC one x+ using my nexus 7.
I use an OTG Cable (USB ON THE GO). I put the OTG cable on my nexus and connect my phone to it to charge it.
Please press the thanks button if I helped!
